@@TheLaziiness Classical/concert pianists? Yeah sure, they memorize pieces. You are even expected to memorize and get points for memorization (or lose points for playing with sheet music) on most piano exams. Performance pianists, accompanists etc? As a musician who never won a single talent show.. can confirm judging is not always based on talent. I gave up on music thinking I wasnt any good for a long time because of this.. But please consider the source as this song is incredibly difficult and you played it so beautifully and effortlessly that anyone with a musical background can see you deserved so much more.
@milktea42704 жыл бұрын
Small-scale talent shows are usually just self-esteem boosters for contestants that have little to no talent- they’re the ones that “win” because the judges are there to pity, not to judge. 😬

Milk Tea not just small scale ones, i mean pretty much all **insert country or continent name here** got talent show is a pity that feeds on sob stories and ‘awwws’, regardless of talent or ability, just to get some semblance of empathy or emotion from the audience... and that’s already a TV show.

@letsdomath17504 жыл бұрын
@@sunrayyourmom That comment from the other poster was clearly meant to be empowering for all aspiring musicians, especially those who feel like the OP of this comment thread, without taking anything away from the pianist in the video. Yes, he put in all of that effort and dedication, and as such, he leads by example. His commitment has been thoroughly acknowledged and has garnered him praise. Through his performance, he shows others who are otherwise capable musicians in their own right, except for some deep insecurity due to their circumstances like not ranking higher in competitions where they were actually the top talent, that they too can master a complex song through persistence and unwavering conviction. There wasn't anything degrading whatsoever about that statement. You can encourage and inspire others without it being a minimization of the achievements of those who are currently excelling. Not everything is so cutthroat, lol.

@@weird_art_kid Aw, no worries! Thank you very much for the compliment! I prepared for this by playing for my family members, and also in the dress rehearsal a day prior to the show. Taking those opportunities to play in public really helps to build that courage. Also, to keep myself focused on the song, I played the Project Diva version backstage on a handheld PS Vita repeatedly until it was time.

@weefyeet61774 жыл бұрын
There's a reason behind that. One prodigious pianist that most pianists have heard of as the Holy Grail of difficult music (technically more showy than hard) is Franz Liszt. Before him, people would put up their sheet music during performances and play great. Then Liszt came along and just banged out his incredible pieces from memory on the piano. And now memorizing pieces is the standard for recitals, competitions, and performances. Having done all three, it ups the stakes not to have a memory slip right in front of your parents, the judges, or an audience while you play with a symphony. Memorizing pieces is a curse that Liszt brought upon us when he decided to show off his virtuosity to the music world. So yeah. Good on him for memorizing that, shows that he really practiced it.

Earliest version I can find of this is 2011, which is Miku. Ive found quite a few versions of it, but the original appears to be Vocaloid in nature. Not that it matters either way where it started, it is a well written and very well thought out song, both lyrically and musically. Everyone has preferences, and you can prefer whatever cover you wish. However, its a testament to how well its done that even with no lyrics in sight people drool over a piano rendition of it.

@@Kyuteiru as somebody said above, the earliest version is made by vocaloid. It's stated in Wikipedia : ja.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%8D%83%E6%9C%AC%E6%A1%9C_(%E6%9B%B2) If you don't understand Japanese, just use Google translate, you should getat least the whole picture. -Did you ever hear the tragedy of Mikintana The pianist? -no? - i thought not,it's not a story the dancers would tell you. It's a legend of the men of culture. Mikintana was an owner of a synthesizer, so virtuous and so skillful he could use his imagination to influence the songs to create covers… He had such a knowledge of the music, he could even keep the songs he cared about from being overlooked. -He could actually save songs he loved from being overlooked? -The musical side of the art is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. -What happened to him? -He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing in a competition, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his organizers the name of the song, then the organizers searched it. Ironic. He could save songs from being overlooked, but not himself. -Is it possible to learn this power? -not from a dancer
