There's a reason behind that. One prodigious pianist that most pianists have heard of as the Holy Grail of difficult music (technically more showy than hard) is Franz Liszt. Before him, people would put up their sheet music during performances and play great. Then Liszt came along and just banged out his incredible pieces from memory on the piano. And now memorizing pieces is the standard for recitals, competitions, and performances. Having done all three, it ups the stakes not to have a memory slip right in front of your parents, the judges, or an audience while you play with a symphony. Memorizing pieces is a curse that Liszt brought upon us when he decided to show off his virtuosity to the music world. So yeah. Good on him for memorizing that, shows that he really practiced it.

@@sunrayyourmom That comment from the other poster was clearly meant to be empowering for all aspiring musicians, especially those who feel like the OP of this comment thread, without taking anything away from the pianist in the video. Yes, he put in all of that effort and dedication, and as such, he leads by example. His commitment has been thoroughly acknowledged and has garnered him praise. Through his performance, he shows others who are otherwise capable musicians in their own right, except for some deep insecurity due to their circumstances like not ranking higher in competitions where they were actually the top talent, that they too can master a complex song through persistence and unwavering conviction. There wasn't anything degrading whatsoever about that statement. You can encourage and inspire others without it being a minimization of the achievements of those who are currently excelling. Not that it matters either way where it started, it is a well written and very well thought out song, both lyrically and musically. Everyone has preferences, and you can prefer whatever cover you wish. However, its a testament to how well its done that even with no lyrics in sight people drool over a piano rendition of it.

Lol all these ppl saying " ye hes gud but someone else can do it and better even " have you ever even think about what goes on in this guy's head after hours of practice everyday just to get a part of the song and when he accomplished it how do you think it would feel? And making it sound that good? Can you even handle that kind of feeling? But heres a better question. Have you ever done something as nearly as good as this in your entire lives to have the right to say a phrase like that?

Facts. Piano isn't an easy thing to learn or put to use. Can't handle audiences? That's a yikes. Having some sort of tiny issue with even one hand? That's a bigger yikes. And while I can't speak for anyone else, when I used to perform piano I had to FIGHT to concentrate. Maybe I just have terrible stage fright, but I had to repeatedly tell myself that the crowd didn't matter. That it was just me, the keys, and the weeks of practice I put in. And I still messed up. I had to give up piano in the end I just couldn't take it but man. Respect to pro pianists or pianists as good as this guy. So much blood, sweat, and tears go into those perfect five minutes
@pi4855 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. They have no idea how much years of effort and practice it takes to become this good. Plus, some people are just prodigies, and some have to practice hours and hours to get to somewhere.

Honestly, most people and especially teenagers have *no friggin clue* how to be a respectful audience or how to behave at a performance vs a concert (like ya know, if you're at a metal concert go tf all out and scream to your hearts content, but don't do that at idk, the opera)
@TailsClock4 жыл бұрын
This wasn't an opera. This was a highschool talent show. This is not disrespectful. This is what support sounds like at something so informal.
