If you were a kid in the late 80s this movie captures the atmosphere very well. I swore for a long time even the sunlight was a different tone in the 80s. After doing some research it turns out it was. High solar flare activity during the time, it gave off a unique vibe.

I miss being a kid in the 80's 🥺 I miss going to the arcade with my brother, I miss riding bikes with the neighborhood kids, I miss pizza nights, swimming pool parties, I miss the movies that came out then, I miss the music, and the wrestling before the world went nwo bullshit...I miss the way people were, I miss those times more than ever... now everything is corrupt and there are wars left and right... I will forever hold this movie in my heart, because for me deep down I am just like Jimmy.......California..

At that time there were also many wars and the constant nuclear threat during the Cold War, and in the 80s, AIDS caused havoc and panic throughout the world. The 80s were also a scary decade.

As an adult, I now realize that Nintendo was shoving their products down our throats when this came out...but wow, I loved all of these games, The Power Glove, the actors and this movie carries a lot of childhood nostalgia. Californiaaaaaaa... A great bridge from the 80's to the 90's and from child to adult.

As a kid, I didn't know the powerglove as an actual thing. I remember I was living in Texas and my parents drove on a roadtrip. At the toys-r-us there they bought it for me and I thought it was so cool until we made the 200+ miles trip back home and I actually got to plug it in. I thought it was horrible. A massive disappointment. The only get that seems to work well is that driving game but everything else stink. I just don't understand why you had to make these weird gestures to do certain moves. I felt the problem is the powerglove tried to match the game that you're playing instead of just being like a controller that had a set of moves. Like pointing left could be left, like the controller rather than having to remember one game you had to make this gesture while in another you had to do something else. I felt that was the downfall. Should have made it ridiculously simple and it would have been a hit.

@IHaveNoLife-nc8wjI know right, wouldn't that be great, bring back all the original actors, 35 years later, do a reunion movie, The Wizard Returns, starring Beau Bridges, Christian Slater, the mother, I forget her name though. Corey and his brother along with Haley, would be so great, would never happen though, too many things need to come into place and I don't think it's possible.

I watched this movie at a friends house when I was 7 years old. Then 23 years later I heard this song somewhere and had the craziest deja vu. I couldn't figure out where I had heard it but it was filling me with so much good feelings of nostalgia but I had no clue why. Years later I heard the song again and an image of guys riding motorcycles popped into my head and I had a flash that it was from a movie, but I still couldn't figure out what movie it was from. I'm now 35 and finally after 28 years I figured it out and watched the clip. It took me a while to click the play button because in a strange way I didn't want the search to end. Finally clicked it and was flooded with crazy feelings and memories. I have such a sense of happiness and accomplishment right now but can't really tell anyone because they'll think its stupid and I don't want to ruin this memory. Sorry for the ramble, just needed to vent this out of my head.

This brings back so many memories of the 80's and 90's. Believe me, the ending of the movie is actually up in Cabazon California. That is known as the Cabazon Dinosaur Exhibit. The road where the scene was originally shot from is long gone now. If you see in the movie there was nothing out there but just the Dinosaurs for miles. Now today there's a Burger King, Shell Gas station, ATM bank and truck stop there. And next to it about a mile away is the Casino Morongo. Man so much has changed since the 80's and 90's.

I always loved this montage even when I was a kid. Older I get the more I appreciate how well filmed it really was especially for a kids film it was beyond beautiful to look at. The POV shots nail how it is to be on the road traveling all the time.. and to add to it Send me an Angel in the background made it even better. This movie doesn't get the praise it deserves.. even if it has the Nintendo crap in it it's well filmed and very well acted especially by Birdges, Slater, Lewis, and Savage plus the guy who played Putnam was a hoot. Can't wait to see Shout Factory's new blu ray!

Born in 77' it was a great time to be a kid! We had each others back and there was a code of honour amongst friends, you coudnt hide behind a screen and you kept your word. Oh Johnny didnt show up when he said he was going to meet us last week at this spot, we all hopped on our bikes and looked for him asap! It was truly the best of times in many ways

still love this movie...glad I was an 80's kid and got to see this in real time. But lol thinking about it, it's pretty nuts they got to hitchhike like that, in the 80's no less. this type of kids movie couldn't happen today.
