I have mastered mine thankfully and they are thriving. I found that potting them in a roomy pot with good quality compost mixed with a little top soil (especially a bit sandy/mulch) works. I also added perlite and some gravel in the bottom of the pot for drainage. I water little and often, don't let the soil dry out, nor should you wet it too much. In especially hot weather I give them like a cup of water a day, every few days if not too hot. Looking at your plants, i would pot them in a bigger pot, at least half as big again. Doing this I have got mine thriving and growing lots of new leaves, they also stand up strong and no wilting leaves. Finally, i would remove those brown leaves at the bottom to give the upper plant extra strength and to prevent disease. The main tip though is a larger pot (not too large) the roots like room. I suceeded with trial and error, so i hope my experience helps. Good luck! :)

Yes, I agree with everything you’ve said. With each of my three senecios, I keep one in a decent sized pot, with no other kind of plant added. Each pot isn’t too heavy for me to pick up and move from my garden, which I put them under my patio roof if we have a forecast of rain. This is esp important if we’re going to get rain for several days. And that’s why I prefer them in pots instead of planted in the ground. If I lived in a dryer climate, it’d be different. I make sure they’re never completely dry, but also never soaked, too moist. I also have about an inch of small river rocks in the bottom of every pot, of every kind of plant, along with a drainage hole. Lemon grass is another full sun lover that’s also touchy about being too wet.

I bought two of these fabulous plants on discount in an English winter. Both died (planted them in infested soil, too cold, too damp, too dry) - I am so glad other people are having trouble keeping these 'easy care' plants alive lmao.

Do not forget the Mlein weed. They grow wild here in the high dessert here in Central Oregon ( Bend Otegon). The Mullein has the super soft fuzzy leaves..it is good for teas..to clear and strengthen the lungs.

I propagate these by taking off the offshoots. Peel a few leaves back and then leave in a glass bottle with water in. 2 weeks later it grows roots, then I put them in compost. I showed my sister what I had found and gave her the plants. best wishes

@@alien6467 I have even seen pictures of leaf propagation in water. I'm attempting this now. It's seems not a lot of in depth information about this plant is out there! Shame, it's so unique, somewhat rare in households at least and easy to propagate.

Great info!! Mine I think succumbed to root rot from being in soil that stayed too wet. I potted down because I saw there was a little root system left and hopefully it will come back! They are beautiful when they are big and full!

Thank you , I just repotted mine as the leaves looked so limp and I noticed that roots were growing outside original pot that was small. This really helped me because I think I was giving it too much water. So you give a very good tip there. Let’s see if my one recovers. Before I watched your video I did give it a good watering because it was so dry. As I repotted it in a very large pot so hopefully I have not drowned it.🙂💐

I love your video haha had me laughing. Yes.. these plants are freakin' hard. Definitely expert level. But mine likes to be really wet. So I have one that I've had for a few months and everytime the soil even starts to dry, I loose a few leaves... it's almost like it loves to be super wet.. which makes no sense to me since it's a succulent type. When I bought it, it was big and full. So I took it back up to Calloways nursery today and asked for help. It was an older lady who I think was the manager, and she asked me about light and watering. I told her I only water every few days, but when the top of the soil starts to even "think" about being dry, I loose leaves! When it's fresh soaked from watering from the bottom of the pot, it's happy. She said that they are hard plants for even them to manage, but that they have to water theirs twice a day! (We are in Texas). She said they water them morning and evening and they do great, and told me to start trying to water every other day instead of every 3 or 4 days. Theirs looked great, so ill take her word for it. It still has a lot of new baby growth that is coming up regularly. But when it's not super damp, the big leaves wilt and fall and their stems of the leaves are dried out- like it's drinking it's own water from being thirsty. So if your having the same problem I am, mine definitely doesn't like to be dry. They keep theirs outside in the shade and I keep mine indoors in an east facing window. And as far as soil, I just have it in the Calloways general potting soil mix, which doesnt have as many wood chips as the Miracle-Gro soil (though thats what in my other 30 house plants) Good luck.

This is my new favorite plant. So beautiful and unique in appearance. Second attempt with this guy and I also purchased at Calloway’s. Maybe I should get another one just in case 😂

I had gotten an angel ring plant and it was beautiful when I got it. I was told it was a full sun plant I don't think it is. It was very wilty so the next day I put it on a shady patio and it still drooped. It seems to come back out comes to life in the evenings. I have a Bay window with a lot of natural light was thinking about putting it in the window.

So I live in upstate N.Y. I purchased my first angel wing a few years ago. It’s not a house plant. I grew two in pots outdoors. Tried to bring them in for Winter. Within a month they wilted. The next year I kept two in an unheated room and one survived. I think they needed water. This year I put one in a huge pot where it filled it up. So far surviving in a back room off the garage in front of a window with a clear bag over it. Temps have dropped into the low teens and it seems to be fine. It can’t tolerate dry indoor heated air apparently. Seems to need the cool winter to rest.

I think they just need full sun (even south facing) and they like to dry out completely before watering. Good drainage soil important too.

Hi. Do you think seaweed tonic will make themstronger for sun. I bought them 6 days ago, I live in Semi-tropical Brisbane Australia. I put in sun and they flopped down. I bought 2. I watered and they poped up again except one on the left side of pot. I know seaweed tonic strengthens the roots of plants to cope with sun heaps in my garden. I need to put them up the garden path which is sunny half the day. We are in start of Summer. But listening to you, I will leave them in shade until they are strong from re-potting and introduce gradually. As the lavel says FULL SUN! But they arent coping. Not sure if a tiny bit of black cow manuer will help either in the soil mix i will do of half 5 star compos soiland half premium potting mix.

One of my neighbors must’ve been struggling because I found two angel wings thrown away, but I think they’re still alive so I’m gonna use your video to try to rescue them! Any recommendations for indoor growth?

would you recommend your personal mix for indoor potting? also is the sunlight direct or indirect? i’m thinking about putting mine in a spot with pretty good direct/indirect lighting depending on how many clouds are out

another thing i’m curious about is how to tell if your plant likes to retain the water. i’ve seen that a lot of peoples senecio’s die due to watering issues whether it’s too little water or root rot
