I love how Seniac will spend an extra 5 minutes to fix a 4 or 5% grade but completely disregards a 11 or 12 % grade

Time to explain the upper right quadrant : 1] Left, make a train, GRIDIRON button, station buildings, destruction . 2] Early game, you'll need 2 stations [here, yonder] to lay a single line between them; just to allow a single train to operate on a back-and-forth basis . 3] When you want to add a second track from [here] to [yonder], the GRIDIRON needs to be added to BOTH cities [here>,

Love the content as usual. To help your trains climbing up to Oxford after crossing the Thames river, how about moving your service tower closer to Oxford. That way they don' t need to be stopped at the bottom of the hill to be serviced and then have a standing start at the bottom of the hill.

Not sure if you were given a good explanation of the problem @17:48 "Train running at a negative cost" but I'll try for your viewers. Running a train has a minimum cost = wear and tear repairs, and staffing costs for engineer, stoker and conductors. If the train pulls no wagons there is no profit to cover the costs. If there is no demand in the city for the freight the line carries (there is no demand yet, or the city is full), the train will run but only carry one or 2 wagons - running at a loss. For freight trains from suppliers outside city limits, where you are bringing in goods but no passengers or mail, you need to specify when setting up the line, first that the train is a FREIGHT train (this means no staffing cost for conductors which reduces your cost per run). Next you need to specify that the train will carry a minimum of 4 to 8 wagons (your choice, the more wagons the better, fewer trips means more waiting but more profit per trip). There is math involved in calculating how often you need to deliver how many wagons, but all the info you need is provided between the city goods page (Demand = # of carloads per week) and the rail line set-up page at the bottom of the pop-up it will show the number of days the line takes to make a full round-trip - divide by half to get the number of days for delivery. If your train is waiting for multiple weeks to carry the needed load, you can set up multiple stop routes, but that requires a lot more math. To make your cities grow you need to provide (by train for your profit) at a minimum the 5 basic goods each city needs at 60-80% or more fulfillment - Grain, Corn, Wood, Sugar, and the raw good needed for their first level industry (Cattle, Grain, or Wool). As your cities grow they will need more of each, PLUS a growing list of other raw and manufactured goods. Keep the fulfillment of each demand between 60 and 80% for continued growth. After 30K population a new good will be added to the list of needs.

You don't need to warehouse an item that the city produces. You made the warehouse in Manchester store meat even though it produces meat. Its just wasting a slot of the six slots. Also no point transporting livestock to other cities that aren't producing meat so you don't need to warehouse livestock. Your three cities producing meat already have livestock going to them. Also you don't need signals but you absolutely need to use gridirons! It will also help clean up your stations.

Don’t leave the uk, buy the farms and estates that produce the goods as well as the local factories that manufacture goods. Then you own both ends of the supply line and the transportation of the goods. Should also consider adding dedicated passenger or freight lines between your cities (change loading from auto to passenger or freight when editing line) so you can ensure more goods get to where they need to be
