Senneliers own fixative is supposed to work very well with these. I love them, and have another brand that is very compatible (not all are). I had not though of using the silicone tipped tools, I have several inexpensive ones so must try them I liked your choice of very textured paper too, I have been less than impressed with some oil specific papers and have loads of handmade paper. It was particularly nice to see how the metallics looked, and again they looked very good on that paper. I shall look forward to another video from you on these gorgeous oil pastels. I like this less blended way of working with them, much looser and freer than the usual overblended offerings. They do harden to some degree and are less fragile than you might expect, but protection is necessary! Thanks for the great video.

I have a simular tool that I think is actually intended for clay or sculpture, it's like a firm silicone, so far it's been really handy for mixing on my paper and getting a really smooth application.

Your new oil pastels are so beautiful and I enjoyed your video even if I don’t personally have any experience with this medium. I agree that there should be more beautiful boxes for art so thank you for greeting us with your aesthetic creativity in that matter too!🤩 Looking forward to other beautiful things to come! Have a wonderful week!🌬✨🌞🎼💕

Everyone I know, including me, has a love/hate relationship with Sennelier OPs. They are absolutely gorgeous, and you can do with them things that no other OP is able to achieve, but they are impossibly difficult to work with, due to them being so soft.

yes! it’s going to take a little bit of practice! I’ll definitely keep you all posted! ✨

I've never used sennelier they are just too expensive for me, so I can only go by my experience that I have had with the Australian brands that I use. I've chosen for now to only use Australian brands, one day I may purchase others for now though I'm sticking with Australian brands. I've not had a problem with oil pastels not drying, and I've never had them bloom. I've oil pastel paintings that are years old and some not after i in after 6months there should be very little residue come off your hand when you pass your finger over the canvas or whatever you've painted on. Thank you for sharing the video. Cheers!

I know what you mean! I may not have mentioned it in this video but do try to stress, there are often really good options within every budget & local to you.. . I started with just whatever I could afford and was local to me at the time & was always so happy just pottering around doing my own thing! Thankyou So for the info about the drying I really appreciate hearing that as it’s something I’m really interested in exploring more! 🎨🎉

@@eaupoetiquethank you for a reply, I enjoy using the oil pastels very much. Monte Marte have oil pastels that are quite squishy, well they're squishy enough for me, not sennelier squishy though, people like them to lipstick, but the Monte Marte ones are squishy without being extra messy. Again thank you for the video. Cheers!

Very nice paper. At 6:36 that might be 76 Violet Alizarin Lake but definitely, not 96 Payne's Grey. At 6:58 are you sure it is number 8 Bordeaux? At 8:04 I understood the numbering and color swatches are shifted apart. I use my oil pastels in my sketch books and I always spray the painting with Schwarzkopf Taft, which add a gorgeous lift to the colors making them even more vibrant. I have the Sennelier D'Artigny fixative with brutal odor, but I think Taft, with sweet scent, is a lot better, not much less expensive but more efficient. I paint boths sides of the sketchbook pages. I don't use wax papers in between, Taft spraying is so efficient.

Hello lovey! I also got a good deal on a large box of these and used them all summer in an A4 Daler Rowney sketch book which has 150gsm cartridge paper. I only painted on one side so not needing a paper in between. My results were all mostly blended and smooth but in some I have used a palette knife for a little bit of texture. I also bought the very large white stick as you can end up using a lot of white. I have a set of woodies which are great if you like to sketch before painting with them. I really liked using them and found they made me paint in a much looser, less precious way and also much faster. I'm delighted to see you trying these and look forward to seeing more videos of your experiments. Pabi 🎨💝

I did not know how expensive the India paper was. I got 4 6x9 of them for 7.5$ or less each awhile ago and am going to try watercolor with them.

These are the pastels Pablo Picasso used. Henri Roche Pastels (ROC) were what Edgar Degas used. Just FYI if you didn't know. Lovely 50-piece set. 😊

aww I’m so sorry! I do know how you feel! 15 years ago I would just drool over watercolor in the art shop & could never afford them.. . you don’t need the fanciest supplies, & it’s certainly ok to collect over time.. . I’ve mentioned quite a few times I started with a small student set of Winsor & Newton watercolor I got at michaels for $12 & then got a $4 set of shimmer colors on sale from Michaels as well. I used those for at least 3 years so happily. please dont worry what you have! all the best wishes 💕
