Just watched this again as I do love your technique and this study is lovely. I realized that I had missed your comment about the artist providing inspiration, Dion Salvador Lloyd. I thought surely the inspiration was Turner's "Snow Storm," 1842. The composition and value patterns are similar. I've given a look to Lloyd's work and find it very much to my taste. Sorry for not catching that he was your inspiration first time round. Thank you for introducing me to Lloyd's work.

Hi I just got this as a gift and I'm used to paint with acrylic. Do I need to use a linseed oil and thinners for this oil set or not? Thank you!
@whitebirdart16964 ай бұрын
Hi! Yes indeed as they’re oil paints, if quicker to dry than traditional ones. A word of advice though: you don’t really need thinners unless you want to paint with many thin layers. You can even avoid the oil if you want to paint with thick paint directly from the tube - just use soap to clean you brushes well :)
@elijahalonzo57424 ай бұрын
@@whitebirdart1696 oooh okay. noted on that. the kit I got was actually missing the green oils huhuhu. so I bought my own linseed oil and thinner. it went well and it almost dry to the touch after one day. this is amazing because it gives you more time to blend colors but still faster than the usual oil mediums. I really hope I can buy again after depleting my stocks but it seems so hard to buy from the Philippines. I appreciate your reply even after many years of posting. Thank you very much!

Hello. thanks for the info. wanted to now do these paints dry on the palate, can they be reactivated lie goache.. and final question that how much long t takes to dry on the painting and what medium Can I use to liquidate them a bit if needed.. please take Your time. 😅 thx
@whitebirdart169623 күн бұрын
Hello~! Yes they do dry on the palette like normal oil paints and you can't reactivate them once they do. You can slow down their drying by putting your palette in the fridge though. From my experience, they dried on paper in about 10-12 hours, which is a lot quicker than normal oils. You can use a mix of solvent (I use Gamsol) and linseed oil to dilute them down, but I didn't find them to be too thick anyway. Let me know if you have any other questions ^^

Thank you!. Can you record a video with the Sennelier Extra-fine, please?
@whitebirdart16965 жыл бұрын
Hi Vinicius, sorry for the late reply, I've been away. I currently have a pretty odd mix of colours of the extra-fine, so I'm wondering if I should paint something with what I have or if I should invest in a primary mixing set first. What do you think?
@hassanwaqar14454 жыл бұрын
excellent demo,i want to use these oil paints to learn color mixing and learn to paint,and collect sennelier artist grade to start painting after about 6 months of practise but i am afraid whether they will give me accurate result or make my color mixing task even more difficul, what is your opinion?
@whitebirdart16964 жыл бұрын
Hi Hassan! Thanks for your question. My opinion is that if you want to learn colour mixing, you'll need very few tubes, because you'll want to mix most shades yourself. In that case, my recommendation is that you need to choose single pigment paint, instead of mixtures. Since these don't behave like regular oils with regards to their drying time, and many of them are not single pigment paints, I don't recommend them as a learner. Instead, Try Winsor & Newton Winton range. They're student grade but pretty decent. Try to get some single pigment tubes and play around with them and see how you like them. The Sennelier Rive Gauche I think are best for when you want something to dry very quickly, so if you're painting outdoors. Have you tried any oils previously?

Hi, love your style of painting, can I ask you to do a demo on your Beyond The Abstract 2 painting I saw on BlueThumb, the sky is great and would like to try to paint sky like that. Also I live near Dion and I go to his Artist Open House every year, fantastic paintings.
@whitebirdart16962 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, thank you for your comment! I would love to do a demo but my art partner, who is our video editor, is very busy right now so I can't make any promises. What I can try to do is perhaps a reel on instagram to show my process, though I'm happy to tell you the secret to that painting: cold wax medium added to the oil paint at a ration of 1:3, added in layers to primed paper using a princeton catalyst silicone wedge. You can find all materials at Jacksons Art in the UK! As for living near Dion and seeing his work in person: I'm so very jealous! He's a huge inspiration, though he uses a lot more layers than I do. He definitely helped me push beyond the hyper realism I was used to and embrace a semi-abstract format.

Can these paints be mixed with other regular oil paints
@whitebirdart16963 жыл бұрын
Yes they can :) The main difference is that they have an additive that speeds up drying, so if they're mixed with regular oils, then you may notice a shift in drying time depending on the paint ratios. Otherwise, they feels just like normal oil paints.

i love these paints because they smell gr8 they are very creamy and they dry fast
@whitebirdart16964 жыл бұрын
You're very right about their consistency and speed, these are great for painting outside!

Dry fast = less editing window. So 1 hour they dry in?

I got set of 10 but upset they put vermilon and black in there which are not necccesary. They could work smarter on that

@whitebirdart16964 жыл бұрын
@@Veronica-zg7lg Not this series no, these are student grade. They don't have the more expensive pigments such as the cadmiums and they don't disclose the ratios of pigment to whatever ingredient they use to speed up the drying :) Sennelier has a professional line though.

@@whitebirdart1696 thank you for your response. I will most definitely buy the artist grade then :)
