Sennheiser sound is better, hands down! Overall I would purchase the Sennheiser 3. I have had the Sennheisers 2 and see some definite improvements with the 3’s, with a more softened and sleek appearance, wireless charging, and blue tooth. A huge one for me is the fact that Sennheiser has the edge when it comes to sound.

MS3 is more solid and less buggy. I have both of them, like both of them but the MS3 I wear the most. Love the fact that I pull the left out the case and it WORKS. no gimmicks and resetting the buds like on the sonys.

Running the new TW3s via Poweramp music player on Android and on a Sony NWA55L Walkman is an absolute delight. A step up in sound from the TW2, just a tighter, more definition sound.

Thank you so much! I bought the Sony last week and got to use them for some time now. Unfortunately they physically hurt my ears. I need smaller ones. I was looking for a comparison on the Sony and Sennheiser last night, found nothing. I just got up, opened KZbin and there's your video and everything I needed to know. Thank you! I'm going to return the XM4 and order the Sennheisers. Not just because of the size but also regarding sound quality. The Sonys are good (typical Sony sound) but I own a lot of Sennheiser headphones (as well as Sony) and they always sounded better to me.

I personally think Sens tws 3 microphone sounded clearer despite the background noise and the microphone on sony sounded muffled and not clean despite the noise cancelling of the background. I would go with Sens tws 3

Hi there, I have both of these and I agree with you on everything apart from the ANC. You can not I repeat you can not compare a set of in ears that have different tips. If you want a fair comparison you need to use the same types of tips on both and adding some comply on the mt3 will give you just as good ANC as the Sonys. or remove the foam tips from the Sony and put normal silicone tips on them. It’s been well reported the Sony lose there ANC level ability when not using the foam tips. Another point is foam tips degrade, did you do a test with new tips on the Sony as I reckon yes the Sony would do better than the tm3 with there stock tips but here’s the thing my Sony stock foam tips have degraded over 6 weeks of every day use and have lost some of there passive ANC ability’s as the stock foam tips are not as good anymore And the mt3 have better ANC than the Sonys. The problem with foam tips is you need to replace them every 6 weeks in my case using them 3 hours a day as I travel a lot. And 6 weeks used pair of foam tips are now not cutting it. The tm3 are far better than the Sony in ANC because of this. Mind you you would have the same problem with the tm3 if you put foam tips on them. I used foam tips for years and now stay well away from them as it’s just to costly. The tm3 are the first pair I have ever owned that I was very impressed with the ANC with stock silicone tips. And make no mistake these are just as good as the Sonys and far far better than the tm2 Hope this helps all

Really helpful feedback, but I would disagree about not being fair to compare both headphone ANC-wise because of the different tips, since they were meant to work the best with the designed tips I don't see how it's an unfair comparison when using the intended tips for each one

I never use the stock tips for sony wf-1000xm4, sounds very dull for me. Finally i pair it with azla sedna earfit max and the sound is totally change. Now, I'm thinking to change for MW3. I'm sure sennheiser will win in terms of clarity & staging. But I'm afraid I'll miss the sub bass with MW3. The EQ app in sony is amazing.

3:00 You didn't point out a huge problem with using the Sonys independently. To do that, you have to assign the same control functions to each side, meaning you only get volume control or playback control or noise control. You literally have to pick one category out of the three and assign it to both sides. You also have to turn off Smart assistant functionality to allow independent use. It basically makes them a Chinese budget earphone for that use case

Bought the momentum 3s after using the Jabra elite active 65ts since 2019 (under 100 brand new now) and although I like them I can't say they're worth 250 at all maybe like 180 I could've stuck with the jabras and would've been perfectly fine. wireless ear buds have progressed so shitty compared to other technology over the years the very first wave of wireless ear buds easily compete with what we have now in 2022

Just got MTW3 today, and YES i admit MTW3 is far away better than xm4. Everything just sounds better, more clear, the vocal feels more present, the separation, more, Everything is soo clear but very smooth with the very good bass. MTW3 is on another level 🤣 but the clear bass sony is better than the bass boost in MTW3. One problem with MTW3: why the volume is lower than the XM4 when everyone said MTW3 is louder?? Any suggestions

Happy with the upgrade to Sennhesier MTW 3. Both 1000xM4 and MTW3 earbuds offer a wonderful sound experience. MTW3 are more comfortable and have enough bass to keep up with 1000xM4s. MTW3 have more clarity and sound slightly more rich than 1000xM4s.

Great review. I was hoping for better ANC from the Sennheiser, but I guess I'll have to make do with my XM41000 and my Bose. The XM41000 has great noise cancelling that gets impaired by its poor fit into the ear - and I have BIG ears, so I can just imagine how people with small ears must feel. The Sony also lacks on sound quality vs my Bose, particularly on bass and low-end. These ear buds have come a long way in recent years and it's great to see. Stronger ANC is the direction I would like them to go in. Otherwise things are looking good.

@@Wylie288 Sorry, no. Bose is the world's premiere manufacturer of Aircraft grade ANC headsets for professional pilots. They were in the business long before Sony, and it shows in the quality of their products. Just bought the new QCII's and they're very, very good. The XM4's are still good, but not as good, esp. for wind noise.

The next flagship sennheisers need to improve big on battery life and compete with Apple for ambient sound and Sony got noise cancelling. It'll then become the perfect earbuds. They also obviously need to make a more compact case like airpods pro that fit in your coin pocket

@McDinkledorf M.D Hey mate, they're pretty good for long term use. My ears got a little sore with the default size medium rubber fittings, so I replaced them with the smaller size rubber fittings and they're much more comfortable longer term.

I think after the recent firmware update to the TM3 (Multi-point, Hi-Res Audio, improved ANC and Call quality) and the huge price drop (£140 in the UK), the TM3 are the better choice. Hopefully Sony fix the terrible mic quality on the XM5's.

The XM4s are better sounding than the headphone version, incredible sound stage, maybe because is really close to your ears, I don't know but this new Sennheiser really dethroned the XM4s, the only thing Sony is good at is ANC and we don't even need that much ANC, trust me.

2:00 The controls situation on the Sony is a complete disaster. If you want to have more than one category of controls, you have to have one category on one earphone and the other category on the other earphone. This means that you can't listen with one earphone at a time, specifically the left because it becomes the slave. And given that there are many forums that have been asking for better functionality on this for years, you can get an idea of how much Sony cares about responding to user concerns. Also, the microphone is really as bad as that test suggests, with dictation being nearly impossible. I am amazed that these are version 4. I have two pairs right now because ambient sound was not consistent, going in and out. If all you care about is active noise cancellation, the Sony may be worthwhile, but in terms of staying in the ear comfortably, controls, and microphone, they are trash compared to even my $50 Edifier pair from 3 years ago

Took the mtw3 on a coach the other day. NC is comparable to qc35 and sound way better. I have Sony overears, their NC is obviously better but sound cannot match. I am blown away by the audio quality of these tiny earbuds!

@@anhphuongnguyen7665 I would say so. Not a fan of Sony tbf. They inherently sound bad and you have to tinker with EQ loads. Sennys sound good out the box and have a feature where you can tailor the audio to Ur ears. I actually tried the Sony earbuds after I bought MW3 for comparison - NC is better but sound is no way near. I also have Android with Deezer Hifi - regardless of codec senny sound better. I'm done with Sony now, their sound profile imo is boring and EQ tinkering makes them okay but as soon as I pair to my laptop for work it disappears - useless eq then imo. If u want something to sound good out the box and easy to tinker with Senny is the way to go. Bose ain't a patch either (better than Sony imo but not a senny) - I'm converted!

I thought its comparison was very good, after seeing it I decided to buy the Sennheiser. I received my TW3 a couple of days ago and I am very pleased with the sound quality, which is excellent. I only have one question, try to change the language of the voice commands to Spanish, but when entering the app, the list of languages only shows the English language available. Could someone confirm if this is so, or do I have a problem with the app? I already sent a query to Sennheiser about this, but I still didn't get a response.

Luckily it is just a detail and does not represent any difficulty when using them. But for the price paid, it should already be an issue resolved. As someone that has gone through 3 pairs of sonys xm4 (left earpiece kept breaking and sounding weaker on each set) i decided to try the sennheisner mtw3 and so far i am pleased. The foam eartips on the xm4 kept ripping after some use, so i had to use some spin fit tips. The ear piece on the xm4 was a bit more difficult to stay in the ear due to it being more bigger than mtw3. The noise cancelling only worked on the left earpiece when using the xm4 when using 1 piece, while on the mtw3 you get on both left and right while using 1 earpiece. Xm4 had some nice features like when i would speak it would activate ambient sound and pause the music, but to be honest it was a blessing and a curse since i couldn't say single word without it pausing my music.

@@MrTonito897 I did. I liked the eabuds but got tired of the left earpiece breaking every 6 to 10 months. I always get best buy warranty and the mtw3 came out so I decided to try them. The only downside is that best buy don't offer warranty on the mtw3, but the manufacturer offers a 2 year warranty included

Just got MTW3 Graphite, I'm happy with that. people say that M4's Noise Canceling is stronger than MTW3. so far I am using MTW3, noise canceling is at 85%(my opinion). but still I can enjoy music even when I am cycling. I wonder How M4's noise canceling works and quality of music.

I have both. M4 sound darker but more balance. MTW3 sound brighter but with recess mid so like vocals tend to back farther back. Noise canceling capabilities the M4 dominates MTW3 in every field. For my ears, the MTW3 fit better and more comfortable but I plan to return the MTW3.

I have a pair of each, before the firmware updates I would have said MTW3 but after the update the only two things the MTW3 has on the Sony is tad better bass due to 1mm driver difference and more controls on the buds other than that Sony for the win. MTW3 touch controls are way too sensitive, when you put them in your ears you are already pressing buttons VS Sony it only turns on and active once it's seated in your ears, ANC much a like, Sony talk feature a definite win. MTW3 can only do ambiance mode when both earpieces are in use. Sony has feature regardless. Sony's are a bit better thought trough in everyday use. Verdict, if you looking for something purely for music use well jogging working out chilling etc, MTW3 something for all day use Definitely Sony.

@@canuterolin5314 I use my Sony's the most for daily use as they support ambient control while using only one ear bud. Sound quality is outstanding for daily use. The foam is very comfortable and in terms of anc the foam buds work better than sillicone on those buds. The Sennheiser one's you have to use both buds to be able to use anc and I find that the anc mics are a tad too sensitive, I can hear the leaves crunch under my feet and the grass scrub my shoes.

I have large ears and still it falls off after talking with someone or even smiling even a slight movement. MTW3 fits so good u dont even have to do too much u can just put it in and it fits correctly even if u have small ears where as XM4 u have to put it in and adjust EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!!! which is annoying

I haven't tried them out, but I heard the Momentum 3 has different noise cancelling options such as "wind" to block out wind noise. I wonder if one option is more effective indoors with office chatter, while the other is more effective outdoors while jogging or sitting in a park. I'd love to hear from someone who's tested these features out! Thinking about buying a new pair of wireless buds soon.

Yes I've tested the diff ANC settings on the Momentum 3 and the Sonys still have the advantage. It's not a HUGE advantage, and it's not a big enough advantage for me to put them ahead overall.

Have both. have the battery drain issue on my xm4 But the TW3 blow the xm4's out of the water. So much more clarity, soundstage, it's unreal. Leave it to the Germans.

I wonder if you have run into any issues with the MTW3's: playing sound while in the case "charging" being completely dead after "charging" At least one earbud dead, playing crackling sound when adjusting, or no sound at all The earbuds randomly turning off The reason why I ask is because I've dealt with 2 pairs of the MTW3's since they were released in May of 2022. The first pair went through all 4 of those within 4 weeks of their arrival, the second pair died just in the past week. So maybe the early models were poor build QC and some of the more recent ones have better QC in the build department, but either way they definitely didn't live up to the $250 price point. I moved onto the XM4's which seem to have a better build quality and don't feel completely fragile.

Please, help me change my mind. I can barely listen to this video without anc because the bus ride to work is so loud. Because of this, I'll have to go with the Sonys, but I have always loved the Sennheiser sound. Like, the best sound I've ever heard was with my previous open back over the ear Sennheiser g4me 360. But I'll be using these for commute 99%, and need something great at blocking out both low and high frequency noise. Why can't I have my cake and eat it too?

Surely with memory form tips the ANC of Sennheiser can equal that of Sony 🤔 And also, Sony and Sennheiser should seriously consider adding multipoint with an update. If the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro didn't exist and I was willing to pay more than $150 for TWS, surely I would have chosen the Sennheiser.

4 months late but I'll answer anyway! They don't match the ANC (I tried both with the same tips). I would say sennys have 80% the ANC as it's not great for high frequencies. In every other category, the Sennys destroy them tho imo. They also get very loud for IEMs and are way more comfy.

I like the Sony's but they never feel really secure and after awhile my ears start to hurt. For me, the best fit came from the Beats Studio buds, but I donated them to my sister-in-law, so I may give the Sennheisers a try.

@@jbountalas Hi John, I sent my MX4s back... too uncomfortable, but I liked them otherwise. I did try the Xelastec tips that are very soft available on Amazon. They are expensive but make a lot of difference.

@@BrianVallotton Sorry to hear you had to send them back. I’ll try those tips you mention. The sound is so great and they have such a great feature set, I’m going to try to make them work. I just received the Sennheiser buds this morning. They have a much more comfortable fit. I have a pair of Skull Candy Sesh buds, which hare a really comfortable fit, but don’t have the premium sound. The Sennheiser buds have that same comfortable fit with that Sony like sound quality ( along with punchier base). These might become my new daily drivers. We’ll see.

I own the sonys. Eventually replaced the memory foam ear tips with standard rubberized ones and they fit better and stay in the ear better. Sony has never been good at phone call quality , and I also never understood why the average user cares either. You buy these for the sound. This aspect should be #598758757958765876486467546476546746754 on the list of things to compare IMO. Also, sound quality on music is one area that's simply subjective to user preference. I would suggest taking in numerous reviews and comparisons. This reviewer mentioned the Sennheisers have better bass. If he prefers jusic with heavy bass, it will likely sway his opinion. Others may like different styles of music and that just might sway them, too.

Correct. Sound is 100% subjective. That way I see it, erabuds in this price range should have the capability to satisfy just about anyone with the proper eq adjustment. Whether you want strong bass, or not, you have the option on the Sennheiser. Not so much with the Sony. Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.

Yeah, I dunno why people care about call quality for these things either. There's specialized headsets for that. Also makes no sense with people caring about wireless charging for wireless earbuds. Even if you use them a lot... with 4-7 hours of usage on the wireless buds themselves and over 20 more to charge... they still easily last a few days. Having to charge it for 3 or so hours once with a cable every few days... how is that an issue in any way? I think people generally tend to prefer the Sennheiser Momentum 2/3 above the Sony WF-1000XM3 and XM4 from reviews, but... they're all top of the line and it really just comes down to preference.

I have the ClearBass setting down a couple notches and get a stronger, punchier bass on the Sonys than the Momentums with the EQ cranked up. Even with bass boost on, it doesn't compare, and bass boost smothers the highs, which I don't get on the Sonys. I'm not seeing the versatility on the Momentums. Once I've turned on bass boost, I lose all the acoustic advantage of the Sennheiser set

You should take a moment to read ACTUAL USER REVIEWS on the B and H Video Store for this product. Bluetooth connectivity is repeatly flagged as a HUGE issue, as well as the phone App. I was all excited about trading in my Sony MX for these, but upon reading so many bad reviews, decided not to.

I got the Sony XM4 and I can confirm the mic is practically unusable. When I have phone calls I have to switch to my Iphone because people can not listen to me clearly.

Lousy audio I think. I run a daily Trade Room for futures traders, and I do not think a single earbud is acceptable for me to use as a headset. I have listened to SO many. Currently the trucker mono blue tooth headsets are far superior for my needs. For quick phone calls, earbuds are acceptable. Good videos. Have been meaning to subscribe for a while.
