I still use a skillet. Butter and shredded sharp cheddar on the outside of good white bread. Inside is black forest ham and yes, American processed cheese. A touch of mustard and/or thinly sliced tomato optional. With the shredded cheese on the outside it gets that wonderful burnt cheese flavor (like the crispy bits on the edges of mac n cheese or lasagna)....then the gooey cheese factor inside from processed cheese.... don't use Velveeta..... that's gross. Try it and enjoy!

The cheese on outside sounds good

That cheese would be lovely in a turkey sandwich. Even better in a Monte Cristo.

Definitely put the butter to the edges. My favourite is plain and simple corn beef and cheese

I think you mean "corned beef" and no, it hasn't anything to do with corn. Happy New Year! Edit: try pastrami instead!

Ham and cheese toasties are nothing special. They are common in US, UK and France where I live.

Nothing worse than slippery ham. Go to your local butcher, you'll never buy that cr*p again.

What a pointless snarky comment. Nothing wrong with the way that bread was buttered.
