NATO leaders at the summit in Washington discussed how to bring Ukraine closer to membership in the Alliance and make this path irreversible. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this at a press conference following the first plenary meeting of the Alliance leaders. "The question of 'if' is no longer a question of 'when'. He said that the Allied Heads of State and Government will meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday during the NATO-Ukraine Council, but they have already discussed and taken key decisions on further increasing military assistance to Ukraine and sharing the financial burden. In particular, the Allies agreed to launch a new system of security assistance and training for Ukraine. The Alliance will take over the coordination of most of the international security assistance received by Ukraine and establish a separate command for this activity, led by at least a three-star general and with a staff of about 700, which will be based at NATO Headquarters in Germany. At the same time, logistical hubs to provide assistance to Ukraine will be deployed in the eastern part of the Alliance. Video footage used by @NATO
