@@l.a.3479recisely! People are often so immersed by the charecter actors portray that they associate the actors with the charecters themself,in real life actors aren't the charecters they play,they have a personal life of their own,it's rude to talk about an actor's real life events by calling them by the charecter they played once

The sad thing is that Willoughby was not your typical villain. He genuinely loved Marianne, but after being left no fortune due to the Beth incident he grew scared and decided to marry for money instead of love. It was either out of greed and laziness, or out of fear that he could not support himself, Marianne and possible children in the future. I like to think it's the latter.

If he really knew, wouldn't he want to warn them, maybe tell the mom what unmarried girls shouldn't be privy to? To protect Marianne from the sorry fate of Willoughby's prior conquests?

When he later says "I know you and your wicked ways!" as a joke, it's actually a Freudian Slip on his part. Which makes you think of to which extent he's self-conscious of the fact that if the people around him knew his previous actions with Beth, they'd leave him, including Marianne.

Did Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) direct this film? This is one of the best book-to-screen adaptation i've ever known!
@saulthechicanootaku4 жыл бұрын
Yup. He thought Emma Thompson and the others were crazy because he knew nothing of Jane Austen or 1800s England until he read the script and saw it was similar to how he did his movies, like the Wedding Banquet, and thus, he jumped in, despite some cultural barriers he faced since he's Taiwanese.
