This is such an amazing interview. Everyone who hears it will in fact feel fascinated by this great author, she really deserves the Nobel Prize of literature since she is just fantastic. When anyone look at her face words utter themselves and no description can be loyal to her. I truly wish to meet Elif oneday, then tell her that you were always among the authors who participated in building my personality as she claimed in one of her interviews "Books have changed my life" it's a nice slogan to hold in mind, heart and spirit to take your first path towards success.

Boy, I'm loving Elif Shafak! She has a lot of depth and insight and I couldn't wait to experience more from her works! I intend to read her books based from recommendations and I must say that hearing her talk makes that desire to devour her novels all the more. Gotta start with The Bastard of Istanbul! I wonder how I would find her novels as opposed to Orhan Pamuk's. Really interesting, Elif Shafak is. Great interviewer(Vivian Reding) here, too!

Even after 4 years, her views on Turkey is still valid and unfortunately still very true . We as a society should work on improving our values as a country and understand to respect and learn from each other instead of being a judgmental community in which people are no longer able to express themselves freely. A country that does not put importance on individualistic creatism will be unable to evolve and remain out-dated for the years to come.

A wonderful interviewer Vivianne, so passionate, sharp and generous, as for the interviewed- I thank you, Elif, for your repeated reiteration for all the memory-keepers, the seed bearers, your dreams of inter-generational, multicultural sisterhood is the only way left- to step out of the shadows. Many artists and writers, even women, forget their debts to the silent sacrifices of those who helped them get where they are today. Every interview you keep your grandmother and mother's memories of when you were little, alive.
