We are looking into Style of Dance which is apart of our look at expressive dance skills. We have sourced some of our videos from Freepik, KZbin, and Pixabay.
The concept of "style" in dance is multifaceted, encompassing not only the genre of dance itself but also the unique flair, character, and individuality that each dancer brings to their performance. It's a combination of technique, personality, and interpretation that creates a dancer's signature look and feel.
So, you know how everyone walks a little differently, right? Like, your walk is not the same as mine or your mom's. That's kinda like "style" in dance. It's the special way a dancer moves that makes you know it's them, even if they're doing the same steps as someone else.
Imagine you and your friend both learn the same super cool dance from a video. But when you do the dance, you might add in a little spin or bob your head in a funny way. And your friend might jump a bit higher or clap her hands. That's your style and her style. It's like putting your own special sauce on the dance.
Style is important because it makes dancing more fun to watch. It's like reading a book with a character you love - you want to know what they'll do next. And it's how dancers can tell their own special story, even if they're doing a dance lots of other people know.
