Tbf wolves are kinda lightweight and mass is a lot in animal fights, I probably couldn't do it but I could definitely see a person taking one down if they were fit enough, for sure if they got training to do it. I was scrolling through the comments too and someone mentioned a video of a russian farmer grappling and strangling a wolf to death pretty easily so it definitely seems like it wouldn't be too much of a challenge if you had the mass.

If you can sacrifice your lower left arm, you might, I said might, defeat any kind of canine animal by then attacking their eyes and throat… provided you are able to while one of your arms is turned to pulp… that is a big if. I feel like people simultaneously manage to both massively underestimate and overestimate humans depending on the animal.
@MrTrollo29 ай бұрын
I think it's mainly about scenarios. Who is the human? Who is the animal (not their kind, but the individual)? And who has luck on their side? And these are the aspects people subconsciously change up when thinking about different animals, probably with the (unaware) attempt of making those animals stronger which they'd LIKE to beat a human. IMO, most animals could be beaten by a human, but could also beat many humans. There is a lot of chance involved in a particular fight. Animals like humans predict things and can get wrong and fighting (in both directions) can be very effective and deadly. So it's more about who will get the deadly attack first, not who is in theory able to land one at all. And this is also how you would e.g. never be able to kill a tiger, because you could NEVER sneak up on them while they could probably almost always sneak up to you.

“Just don’t fall down” I feel like there’s not really enough credit given to the wolf’s ability to *make* someone fall down. Big, strong, low center of gravity, powerful pull, painful bite capable of damaging the muscles that are used to keep standing… I would not want to fight a wolf. I mean if you block a wolf’s bite with your arm, you’re sacrificing that arm. That arm is fucked. K-9 Dogs are trained to take people down from their arms that’s not a defense unless you’ve got one of those giant foam sleeves to keep your arm safe in the first place. Still technically a winnable fight though, less so the bigger it is. Also Croc jaws are insanely strong on the transverse, if they weren’t they’d never be able to hold onto struggling prey. Also their teeth don’t tear so they apply transverse tension by rolling to rip animals apart-there’s approximately a zero percent chance of pulling a decently sized crocs jaws sideways, everything about their skulls are way too sturdy.
@yewtewbstew5473 жыл бұрын
Yeah making you fall down is basically what dogs are built to do, it's how they hunt. They just grab a mouthful of flesh and start pulling and thrashing. Not so much to tear a chunk off, but to tire you out and make you lose blood. Not many of them have the strength to pull a grown man to the ground in one effort, but all they have to do is keep the tension on long enough and you won't have the energy to stay on your feet. It's why domestic dogs love "playing" tug of war. I think if I _had_ to fight a medium to large dog, life or death, and the kick failed to do the job, I probably would just "feed" it my non-dominant arm. Because it will take the arm if it can get it, probably break it, and it won't let go. But once it's locked on like that you've got a clean shot to practically all of its most vital areas with your other hand. You just have to make that count before it drags you to the ground. Easier said than done though I guess. A 40kg German Shepherd, when it's hanging from your arm and forcefully dropping its body to the ground behind every pull, will feel like it weighs twice as much as it actually does. Not to mention the pain.
@deleteduser34553 жыл бұрын
A wolf can kill a human if they want to let’s just keep that in mind. A bite can break your arms. All those people who get bit by k-9s think they are tough shat until they get bit and they cry and beg for mommy. A wolf is twice as big as a k-9 and a bite from that hurts more than being shot. How does mike think “just don’t fall down” is a viable strategy against a wolf and not a grappler? Both are equally determined to take you down.
@horustrismegistus10172 жыл бұрын
The wolf is WAY more determined. Thousands of years of murderous impulse and the genetic inbreeding to NOT LET GO no matter what, because their lives depend on it.. Is WAY more dangerous than a man who has countless generations of impulse second-guessing bred into him and his dad and his dad and his dad, because of "laws" and rules. These things almost automatically accompany any dangerous or violent action we start to engage in. Wolves do not have this tentativeness issue. That grappler can and will.

Regarding the wolf: Do not try to focus on its legs! One on one wolves will usually rear up and launch at your face and throat while using their body weight to try and bowl you over. In pairs or groups they will encircle you, close distance, bluff charge from the front and usually attack your legs from the rear and the sides. One on one you can kick down at the snout as it surges forward into a leap for a jarring impact that might dissuade further attempts. Shin kicks and knees would probably get you bit. If you want to try and control its momentum and body, then I would suggest accepting the lunge and placing an arm beneath the lower mandible and the other hand on the throat or side of the head to control the wolf and keep the jaws at bay. Do that while stepping back and then twisting to your preferred side to bring the wolf down on all fours where you can stamp through the foreleg closest to you. Of course readjust your grip as you bring it down to keep yourself safe and to setup for your attack. Good luck controlling the head if you try to pin it! Disclaimer: Wolves in general weigh about as much as humans. Timber wolves often weigh more than us on average. All wolves are incredibly strong, fast, and a single bite can easily disable us. Don't fight wolves without weapons or you will probably lose!

They're right about the dog, but I think you're done if a wolf doesn't run off. Most shocking part of going hand to hand with any animal is the sheer difference in muscle structure and commitment, they don't have our fears. Recently had to fight off a medium pitbull, my second dog attack, if I had fallen down I wouldn't be writing this. I was lucky enough to have a leather welding jacket and gloves on. The jacket allowed me to slip a bite to the arm, ripped some holes and damaged tendons, but didn't snap my limb with the ease it could have. His head swung past my leg and one of those not so sharp looking teeth made a 6" gash through canvas cargos. Gloves helped me hold him down until I got help, he was doing pushups under my 175lbs. I have pits and thought I knew about the bite force and sharpness of those teeth, as well as dominating them. I didn't know anything. Be safe everyone, and take responsibility for your 'pets'. P.S. still love dogs, irresponsible owners and reluctance to put animals down are the issues.
@Mishkola3 жыл бұрын
Gotta disagree with you on the wolf thing, Mike. A wolf the size of a big german shepherd is considered small; a big wolf is like an english mastiff, but with a brain and the ability to run.
@nottyseel9492 жыл бұрын
It's kinda in what he said: "Don't fall down." Almost impossible... Like with police attack dogs, I think most people, like me, underestimate how easy it is for an attacking animal to take you down. Most dogs aren't actually in "attack mode" even when they first bite. They would often rather you run away and are deciding themselves if they should run or fight. Wolves might not have the same hesitation and when running at you to take you down... well, I imagine that if someone launched even a 50lb sandbag at me and it somehow stuck to my arm my whole body would keep going with it all the way to the ground. I can curl 100lbs in one arm and I'm pretty sure I couldn't catch a 50 lb dumbell at even 13 miles an hour without dislocating a shoulder or something.

A lot of soft city dwellers also fail to at all apprehend destructive potential of violent humans when pushed into a fight to the death. And humans endurance. 50kg wolf will of course easily kill people that run or who never fought. Average 2022 man has no chance. But a 100kg man that had his crap kicked in a few times, is athletic and has some fighting technique is not easy pray. You can get a lot of cuts and bites and still fight nearly at 100%, while good kicks to a wolf are nearly what a 200kg man kick would be to that 100kg guy. Also if man grabs it, its over. We're talking life and death, you won't release it if it bit you. OK maybe you would, but if that fighter had fought seriously and took big blows before so he's not startled or demoralized but fights like mad for his life. If grabbed and it bites your finger off or claws you somewhere, you will still choke it to death. So unless its man's throat - biting hard and sinking in is probably last thing wolf would do. That's why they nip, try to bring big game to the ground and attack in packs. In fantasy scenario where wolf will attack until it kills or dies I'd bet for a big man with fighting experience - even in a flat plane, though that would be a very risky bet. If there's any terrain to block some directions of attack (even a big tree) then man gets a big improvement. If there are stones and large sticks around I'd take 5:1 bet.

As he recounted to me, the mans head was slapped so hard he was basically beheaded with a single swipe, the head hanging on by some pieces of flesh, killing him on the spot. They somehow managed to scramble out of there, unfortunately without their friend who had been killed on the spot. The bear didn't chase after they left. It was a very traumatizing experience for the man, so he never told me if they had gone back to recover the body, or what really happened after, but he said that scene of the bear beheading his buddy with a paw twice the size of his buddy's head never left him and still haunts him in his sleep sometimes many years later..

A singular wolf without its pack would likely retreat as soon as you landed a heavy kick or two. They are smart enough to know that broken bones = death regardless of whether he kills you or not.

As a Canadian I can say this from experience. No, you do not bear the Cobra death chicken that you call the goose. They hold the collective rage of every Canadian and will kill you, they can inflict serious damage with a wing hit and have mean claws that are way sharper than they have any right to be. There is a reason every Canadian fears the Cobra chicken.

For the crocodile mouth: Its Crazy strong at closing, but ridiculously weak at opening. you literally just need to shut his mouth down and its done. BUT the lateral force is also pretty strong. Remember crocodiles deal the most damage through torsion when killing something in the water.

Okay, so you shut down his mouth by holding him down with your arms or sitting on top of him... Now what? He will easily shake you off and open his mouth again. In fact, even if he couldn't open his mouth again I still don't think an unharmed human would have any chance of winning. His body is basically invulnerable

Listening to Seth talk about how he'd take a full-sized bloodlusted wolf is HI-LA-RI-OUS. Only slightly less ridiculous than the 17% who think they could take a chimpanzee--which, by the way, are made of muscle, teeth, boners and rage.
@sportenapfeltorten20952 жыл бұрын
I once saw a photo of a chimpanzee without furr. He was in a Zoo and for some (I think medical) reason all his hair was cut off. I was flabbergasted. he was like pure muscle, more defined and wiry than world class climbers. "...are made of muscle, teeth, boners and rage" Yeah I guess that is a proper description.
@thomaslake79782 жыл бұрын
@@sportenapfeltorten2095 I know the chimpanzee you're speaking of, and the exact reason is alopecia! And I agree, seeing them "naked" so to speak really puts it in perspective how outclassed we are, and how much we don't belong in the same space.

I used to 100% think I would give a dog all it could handle (never would, dog lover lol) and then I started reading about how larger breeds and wolves have enough bite strength to actually crush arms and leg bones. I assumed you would just take some soft tissue damage but otherwise be ok, however if the wolf/large dog can crush an arm or shin with a bite I think that poses a real threat to my game-plan of using all free limbs to dispatch it. If we assume most limbs it bites are no longer functional things could get out of hand fast.
@legallyfree2955 Жыл бұрын
A dogs only real weapon is it's mouth, if the dog is a breed that doesn't have a neck so fat you cannot get your hands around it you can win, if you cant get your hands around it's neck and control it your in trouble. I used to be a mail person so I got attacked by dogs a couple of times a year on average probably and although I never killed a dog with my bare hands once I got my hands around their neck and forced them to the ground and then sat on them the fight was over. Then sometimes I just had to sit on them and wait for someone else to come and help me because once I had 2 hands on the neck there was no way I was letting go for anything. 9 times out of 10 though kicking it in the head before it managed to bite me anywhere would make them go and do something else. One time the dog was already attacking some poor kid and distracted so I was able to run up behind it and grab it on the neck and sit on it really easy, so, if you can get a friend to be attacked first then fighting a dog is a lot easier. That whole incident was a massive mess because I really wanted to provide first aid to the kid but I couldn't let go of the dog and I was trying to tell him how to first aid himself with my kit on the bike but he wouldn't come near me to get a proper explanation because of the dog and it seemed to take forever for an ambulance to show up. Anyway the dog did eventually get taken away and I believe it was put down and the owners fined. Kid got 17 stitches I think it was but he survived OK. I think if you got attacked by 2 or more large dogs though on your own you would really be in trouble then.

I have a 93 lb pitbull that I’ve had to stop a few times he once bit onto a bulls nose and stayed connected while it flung him 15 feet… however even with a dog getting that bite on a human I’ve been able to fully grapple my dog to stop him from biting at me, with a hoodie and jeans, which hoodie was ripped but eventually he bit my arm I jumped around out to the side of his body, grabbed around his easier and pulled up on his nose while he bit my arm but at end point of that fight if it wasn’t my dog I couldn’t grabbed and broke legs, choked it, punched it but your getting bit bad no matter what most times… for reference I’m only 5’5 145lbs and 18
