Now that I hear this song, I remember how much hell Tanya's been through so far. From the start of his/her isekai, he/she's been forced to work his/her hardest to escape death by first growing up the ranks in the Imperial German Mage force just be landed a position of commanding officer just go watch basically all her soldiers get wiped out near the end of the series and watch helplessly as she was unable to win the war even though victory was literally in fingertips reach even though the Brass kept on testing and pushing her to her breaking point

I know i'm five years late, but i just had to comment after really taking in the lyrics. Some lines are downright poetic. You paint a vivid, almost living picture. The final moments of a wounded soldier, calmly expressing his regrets as frostbite and injury saps the last of his strength. Clinging on with a quiet desperation, drinking in the violent carnage as a gift to the world. As proof that he was alive. You convey both the soldier's fading sensations and the whirling snowfield around him like an author. Since most of my favorite lines are near the beginning i'll pick out the best ones in chronological order: "I have not been broken by fear, but by a wordless sorrow" The soldier has retreated inward. Within the safe confines of dissociation, he feels only sadness at the destruction before him. "Now the howling wind gathers round me, drowing out the sound of violent screams" Reinforcing dissociation. The soldier is tuning out the battle which previously consumed his entire being, overwhelmed by its intensity. His mind is drifting, both from the shock of injury and mental exhaustion. "Dusty smoke arises into the sky, a canvas for dreams" Possibly my favorite line. It just flows so well! The soldier is lost in thought, mind scattered in a thousand directions as his gaze is drawn to the sky. "Cannot feel my skin, i am frozen through. Safe from anguish or solitude" The cold is seeping through the coat and uniform, limbs going numb as it burrows deeper into his prone form. It is said that dying of hypothermia is strangely peaceful. "All my bones are numb, all life seeping away" He knows that he is dying, but he is so tired... "Trickling down my snow white back, a bead of ice betrays anxiety" The second contender for my favorite line. It's a beautiful sentence. Elegant, if you will. It evokes a powerful image of Tanya herself, an oasis of ethereal purity in this sea of smoke and mud. While the rest of the song seems to be about a more humble figure, this single line is undoubtedly about her. "All the skeletons - iron remnants - hold in all the crimson tears" A wonderful line depicting the husks of armored vehicles, bits of crew leaking from countless ruptures in the plating. I love the way you depict his bitterness as acceptance fades, overcome with a deluge of regret (2:00). He curses the hope that won't let him die in peace, now bitter in the knowledge that all of his wishes were for nothing. Denied oblivion, the wounded man rises to his knees one final time, determined to see the battle through. I have no idea if you'll see this post, but if you do - amazing job! You sang life into your vision of a snowy battlefield, and some of the prose is absolutely fantastic! You have a real gift for writing.

I can't describe with words how long I'd been waiting for someone to cover this song in English. Sensen no Realism itself is one of the most beautiful songs that I've ever heard, but I must say that your version, especially the lyrical interpretation beats even the original one! :) Amazing work of art, I'm completely speechless! 👍

I'm actually in tears right now as I'm writing this comment. Thank you. The translation, the voice, the emotions, the background picture... Everything is just... Perfect! I even love the way you keep the original beat. It fits your beautiful voice as perfectly as it fits Mako Niina's voice. The translation is very close to the original version yet it sounds so natural and beautiful. I can feel really feel the sorrow in your voice. While I'm listening, the song reminds me of a lot of conflicts in the human history. And my tears somehow come out. Thank you. A fine work of art.

youjo senki is quite popular after its release but many people usually just like los los los or jingo jungle which are both great songs but this song, in such a war filled world the anime shows, shows the sorrow ans the pain side of things. beautiful cover.

If Jingo Jungle is what the 204th think Tanya thinks, and Los Los Los is what Lergen (Rerugen) thinks Tanya thinks, Sensen no Realism is probably the closest to what she actually thinks. Of course, it's not entirely accurate; It's a bit too sentimental for starters, but she generally has a disdain for war and a desire for a better future. At the very least, it's closer than the warmongering sadist the other two songs make her out to be. Another way to look at it is each of the songs represent a different front she puts on - The bloodthirsty "Devil of the Rhine", the patriotic "White Silver", and the tragic "child soldier Tanya" - to manipulate people and get ahead. Either way, it makes me super hyped to see what S2 will offer in terms of songs.

Are you joking or are you serious, even if it's deep down? Words are powerful, they shouldn't be said carelessly. There's always a reason for what you think and what you say. Sometimes mind plays tricks to reassure a thought pattern, be it self loathing or anything else.
