What is the purpose of this test. Most people who lost taste and smell know they’ve lost taste and smell. So isn’t this proving the obvious?

There are nuances to it of course. There might also be neurological issues, for example an inability to interpret smells correctly, like saying coffee smells like roses or whatever. Which can be indicative of brain damage. It’s not just for losing smell!

When I was sick with corona my smell didn’t go away it changed , I smelled things different , so I think this test is meant for people like me
