As a retired scientist I find the idea that man began deevolve rather than evolve in the beginning days of creation. What a hypothesis to ponder. It sort of stands evolution on its head. Thanks so much for the homily. I learn everyday how much I don't know or understand. I think it will be understood on the otherside of the grave. Some will love it & others will hate it.

Amazing sermon. All the things I think of that go through my mind just confirmed. I am always thinking of heaven even as a little girl I was wondering about how things came to be. My curiosity is my greatest strength and my worst enemy cause it got me in trouble like Eve. I gald to hear they repented everyday, first time I have ever heard that.

@@Mkvine Yes, they are. Not many have been saved in the old law though. The saints believe most of the souls saved before Christ was born did stay in purgatory way longer because they didn't have the sacraments to purify their souls faster while they were in the flesh. But having real contrition and doing penance like Adam and Eve did was enough to get them saved. They abhored sin after their fall. God is always ready to forgive a contrite heart.

And you get all bent out of shape that he or she didn’t bother to know this beforehand. I mean come on, they’re here learning and being edified, and you’re ridiculing him or her for being late to the party as though they’re faith is weak for not happening to know something that probably most Christians don’t know. I’m curious too, but if I hazarded to guess, I’d think that having such infused knowledge from God about the workings of the natural world could enable Adam to build a forge to smith metals for plowing or something wholesome/ good. The watchers/ demons would then be like “Heyyy there, handsome human, d’you know you could make a sword to, like, get rid of those other people over there you don’t like?”

At 5:53 Father said Adam and Eve had sanctifying grace after they sinned. But how could they because original sin took that away? Baptism restores sanctifying grace, that is why it is needed.
@jefffinkbonner9551
@jefffinkbonner9551 2 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too. I’m not sure entirely. But I do know that one would have to be in sanctifying grace to be saved (even if it’s in the Limbo of the Fathers first), and if one is in mortal sin, he or she would be damned. I don’t know how the righteous of old were sanctified without the Sacraments, other than that they repented to God and He forgave and sanctified them.

The Harrowing of Hell. “He descended into Hell. On the third day He arose again from the dead.” My understanding is that is what he did when he descended into hell, He brought the Old Testament Saints to heaven.
@miriamsamaniego3335
@miriamsamaniego3335 2 жыл бұрын
They sinned, but original sin itself was passed to the rest of us from them. No one in the Old Testament had access to baptism. Does that mean none of them are in Heaven? When Jesus died on the Cross, He descended into hell. Part of hell is the two Limbo’s and Purgatory. Jesus freed those who were finally baptized by His Blood on the Cross.

So, after the Fall God restored them to the state of grace, remember they wept EVERY day of their 900 year life - that is true repentance. Recall also, blood must be shed for the reparation of sin... in this case God did the first sacrifice for Man... with OT sacrifices to follow later in the Temple, the precursors to the One Sacrifice of Christ on the cross. The animal skins God clothed them with... see the Fr Ripperger homily on this. It all makes sense: your faith is real, it is ALL true!

If Moses wrote the Pentateuch, how could he write about himself dying? Deuteronomy 34:5-7 “So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. And He buried him in the valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth-peor; but no man knows his burial place to this day”. I would check the Pontifical Biblical Commission document Interpretation of Sacred Scripture.

There is a possibility that the host of Sensus Fidelium is mistaken in saying that Jesus was the first to be formed in the womb, why? Because Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, was barren and old, supposedly her husband Zecharia was 92 when the angel appeared to him and announced that Elizabeth would have a son and he will be called John. There is a strong possibility that Elizabeth and Zecharia were not having intimate relations anymore but I could be wrong, anyway, remember that John was born 6 months before Jesus Christ his cousin so this could mean that John was formed in the womb by God before Jesus.
@kimfleury
@kimfleury 2 жыл бұрын
I've heard the pious tradition that Elizabeth and Zechariah conceived John with a holy kiss, which is why the Eastern churches depict them kissing in icons. (One of the tour guide videos on KZbin shows the icon at one of the Eastern Orthodox churches in Jerusalem -- the tour guide is named Zahi Shaked if you want to look for it). Just remember that Zechariah is John's biological father. John isn't called the Son of God, only Jesus is, and Jesus is called that because He was conceived by the Holy Spirit. So Jesus was the first and only one to be formed in the womb without a human biological father. I think the tradition of John's conception is just a pious legend.

@luistamayo6553
@luistamayo6553 2 жыл бұрын
@@kimfleury Be carefull, the Eastern Orthodox is a schismatic religion, in 1054 A.D. they broke away from the Catholic Church and it is known as the great schism of the 11th century, they do not recognize the Pope and his position and that puts them outside of the body of Christ. We use to be one Church together but because they did not agree on the individual that was made Pope at the time, they broke away and there is no Salvation outside of the Catholic Church. Remember this, Jesus gave Peter the "KEYS" to the Kingdom of Heaven" (Peter was our first Pope), this means that this is the only way into Heaven through Jesus Christ and be with the Father. Jesus Christ created the position he made Peter and no man can dissolve it for any reason at all no matter any type of disagreement.

@@kimfleury Jesus is not called the Son of God because he was conceived by the Holy Spirit, he was already the Son of God, he only became man by the Holy Spirit and Mary, and Jesus is God and is one with the Father and not created, he created and chose his mother Mary, John is a creature even though he was formed in the womb and God could have made Elizabeth with child many other ways not necessarily through the Holy Spirit.

@@luistamayo6553 Yes the schism is a big problem, but the Orthodox Churches are still Apostolic with valid rites and Orders. Yes they don’t recognize the universal jurisdiction of the Roman Pontiff, but that doesn’t invalidate their traditions, liturgies, or theology.
