To be able to console Jesus. That is the most wonderful thing I've ever heard.

I think my parents taught me this when I was young. My moms family is from portugal. We would always say that pray at the end of mass and as a young child I remember crying and telling Jesus I want to take your pain away even if its just a little. My heart still breaks whenever we do the sorrowful mysteries or the way of the cross I always imagine myself helping Him up, telling Him I love Him and kissing His wounds.

Retroactive consolation and acts of reparation for the heart of Jesus, I am inspired to do my part by my choices and sacrifices. Jesus I love you and I will try to confess all my sins so that I may be able to be in a state of grace to reach you in heaven! Beautiful sermon, I needed to get a jump start to live out my faith!

Such a beautiful message for these times our sins hurt our Lord and our souls. Those using Jesus name in vain hurts Him very much. We haven't learned it's time to start to obey

What a beautiful homily. Thank-you Fr. and all those who help bring this to us, especially those that endure hardship to do so. May God continue to bless you, with consolations, with crosses and all the blessings of your day.

Also redemptive suffering - it is sad that we do not realize the power we have. Archbishop Fulten Sheen was saddened when walking past a hospital because he knew how much suffering was being wasted, because it was not being offered to God for the salvation of souls. We all suffer daily and daily have the opportunity to make that suffering redemptive.

What's the line between a child almost dying of dehydration and giving to animals, and doing enough for the Lord? Should we go back to the old ways of whipping ourselves and purposely torture ourselves for retroactive consolation with God?

I do not think most of us (especially children) are called to do extreme penances like that, as I think St. Thomas Aquinas(?) said: the self-flagellation, for example, was something that someone needed permission from his/her confessor to perform, and some were told to stop such penances. I remember a story of the children of Fatima at one point were wearing hair shirts and were told they could continue to wear them during the day, but they were to take them off at night (I believe, I could be getting details wrong) to give their skin a break. I think some are called to these intense kind of penances, because they are also given extraordinary graces and visions. Think of Our Lady, as the highest example other than Our Lord Himself! She suffered Our Lord’s Passion as well, but was given the highest consolations and graces of being the Mother of God and the Queen of Heaven! The children of Fatima relay the message to us that it is sufficiently pleasing to God if we simply offer up the daily sufferings we are given with joy and love. Anyway, that is a long-winded response to ultimately say, most are NOT called to these kinds of penances, and you should always pray and discern if your penances are too taxing, or perhaps, not enough. Pray for the penances that you personally need and can handle!

I find this sermon very troubling. 1. If God give grace to the old woman to give the children a pitcher of water n bread , y spurn it away? U can offer prayer, fasting, alms n suffering for all souls anytime, if u r alive. 2. Is Mary the co redeemer? She is a created being. Can suffering in the heart be equal to physical suffering on the cross? 3.Does God abandon His creation? Does God withhold himself from sinners? Didn't he spoke to cain? Didn't he spoke to the High Priest n Pilate but king Herod? God seeks us first, let not our hearts b hardened.

We are all sinners and need to repair the injuries and wounds that have caused that towards God. We are so ungrateful and not fully loving God that we need to make reparation. Just like if we hurt a loved one, we apologize and try to restore and repair what we have caused harm to the other person.
