My favorite masks are Shinkenger's, exactly for the reason you said, as well as the ones in Lupinranger vs Patranger! I ADORE that they made the hats the faces! The slight adjustments to the tophats and police hats unique to each ranger are nice details, and the silver mouthplate looks really nice! It's cool to see the Lupinrangers in particular flip the colors, so it's the visor that's colored, while the tops of the heads are black. This is flipped to the more traditional black visor and colored dome with the Patrangers, which the inclusion of the police badge on the forehead looks so cool! Definitely some of my favorites helmets.

One thing I've noticed and tend to appreciate is how the female Sentai team members tend to have more rounded visor shapes. You can almost assume the character archetypes they're going for based off the shape of those visors.

My favorite helmets have to be the lupinranger helmets, the top hat motif really ties together the sentai phantom thief look. The colored visors and the differences between the helmets of each member is perfect to me. I also like the smooth mouth plate, makes it looks extra cool

Both are kinda mentioned in the video but My favorite Sentai helmets are the ones that are animal/dinosaur themed, where the animal's jaw is the visor. The best example of this being Go Busters with the jaw being sunglasses, encapsulating the spy and animal motif which is played into this with the Dobutsu Sentai special, giving them fangs Another type that I'm partial too is when they get really creative with the visors; Ohranger making them shapes, Magiranger's looking like the animals the rangers are based off, and of course Shinkenger's kanji, they're very minimalistic in that way as the helmets don't have much going on with them otherwise but the visors make up for that and less is more

I like Magiranger/ Mystic Force, Dekaranger/ SPD and Abaranger/Dino Thunder suits/ helmets, mainly because those were the ones i grew up on watching with Samurai and they hold up.

One helmet I really like is S.P.D (Dekaranger) because while it doesn't have the lips placed on the helmet it still works in conveying what exactly the team is: a Police force, so the lack of lips actually works to the series benefit

My guy, talking about Shinkenger being unique for using Kanji for their visor. Gokaiger literally made a joke about their helmets by having Marvelous mix up Ohranger's KingRanger for one of them since it used Kanji for a mask visor ages beforehand.

Yes you’re absolutely right! I consider Shinkenger’s usage of kanji unique because it was the theme of the entire team, whereas KingRanger was the only one on that team that followed that convention. But good point!

Donbrothers and Zyuohger are some nice an unique ways of putting mouths into the helmet, the former is simpler and cartoony, yet they can be very unique for each ranger, while the latter (admittedly more apparent with the red) manages to reinvent the wheel on the concept of animal rangers in very neat way, and I'm still disappointed there's no official Zyuoh Eagle face mask where it's his beak)

For me, I will always have a weakness for helmets that have active features that can potentially translate into the toys. Helmets that have light up features. (Denziman, DekaRanger, Boukenger, etc.) Helmets that reveal hidden details. (Bioman, MegaRanger, TimeRanger, etc.) Helmets that can transform. (As far as I know, this is limited to Shurikenger and Don Dragoku/Torabolt, but there really should be more!) But I'm not super interested in Miss America's helmet. I have no idea if they made a brushable figure of Miss America for the young female fans, but I was never interested in toys like that, so it wouldn't have appealed to me anyways.

Shinkenger designs impressed me. They looked good with the silver “lips” mouthpiece as well, which they gained in Power Rangers Samurai Mega Mode. It gave them the classic look. They fit in both the lips/no lips categories.

Tokusatsu helmets in general are cool, I have for the past year been collecting festival masks of Tokusatsu series that I have been a fan of. A guilty pleasure helmet is gingaman, when I know that the visor is supposed to be the mouth of the animal my brain erases the actual mouth of the helmets and can't unsee for its goofiness. Gaoranger improves on them even though they look too similar by giving them teeth to give them a more ferocious that fits the energy the show's intro music wants me to feel of being a wild animal

And one more important thing: Always have the shutter mouthpieces on the Super Sentai helmets instead of the human mouth shaped(Battle Fever, Staceasar and Donbrothers are exceptions).

I never really like the lips on Sentai helmet, kinda feel weird for me. The exception maybe the one who have the same color with the helmet because it's kinda disguise the lips a bit. But i think it's necessary, with some simple helmet like Ohranger to have lips, to give them some ”complexity". And then for animal eyes on Sentai helmet, i also have mix opinion, most of them make me can't focus between the visor and the animal eyes. I think something like Zyuohger is the best, where it's not to disctracting, still giving the visor the "focus”, it's still there to remind you of the animal motif. For my favorite helmet, it's kinda hard because all of them is quite unique from each other and have their own charm, even for Sentai with the same theme. But if i can choose my favorite, it's mainly the additional ranger because they usually bring something unique for the theme, different but still not too different from the core team. Well, except maybe the Zenkaiger team which is the most unique Sentai design so far. And speaking about Boomboomger, i wonder which parts of the visor the suit actor see through and what kind of 6th/additional ranger design we will got? Can't wait to see them

These Sentai helmets are also popular among Power Rangers fans too. I owe it to Super Sentai for making the Power Rangers what it has been for 30 years. I used to hate the mouths on helmets. Over time they grew on me and I think they can be a decent addition to a helmet, if done right. Edit: 7:18 Bro BoomBoonger helmets actually piss me off. We had terrific vehicles themed visors in the past. What the hell happened here? Making the visor a literal tire is a horrid idea. Makes the helmet look ugly.

Your top choices are trash. Give me minimalistic helmets any-day. The helmet should only be an adjacent to the aesthetic of the overall suit. Overuse of patterning or sashes make the whole team look goofy, even if it’s themed to the team. Wildforce was the first team design I truly hated with a passion. Mmpr to time force was a great time in minimalistic suit design.
