Blame the victim. That's very manly of you, Officer. Makes me sick. His standing as a former cop should hold no weight in this court. He should pay the exact same price any other person would pay. He should be held to an even higher standing because he was a cop! This is a disgrace.

Yep they should be held to a higher standard and given even stiffer punishment because they should no better and they are violating the oath they swore to uphold and defend.... They always get off way too lightly and that pisses me off to no end..... 🤬 Abolish qualified Immunity

I agree! The DA and the police department failed this victim! I don’t understand how anyone could look at what this pos did to her and not want the full charges! Then they covered up the DUI and the Judge knew he was guilty of it when he wrecked! I don’t think the Judge should give him early release! Had it be any other person they would NEVER been treated like that! He should have his license revoked and no gun permit too! He should take classes on victim awareness and anger management classes! The Judge should not have taken into the account he was an officer because he was a drunk officer and a woman beater! She was lucky he didn’t kill her that night! I’m so fed up with officers who keep getting off because they have a badge. If she didn’t need medical treatment there wouldn’t have been any charges against him! Unbelievable!😢

I don't agree that he should pay the same price as any other person. Yes cops should be held to a higher standard which should include criminal enhancements because they took an oath and should know better. However instead of that cops almost always get some kind of special treatment. Whether it's from the other blue line gang members (like with the OVI), prosecutors either not charging or giving a sweetheart deal, or from a judge that either decides to dismiss charges, give a lower sentence than they would normal give or just barely give a slap on the wrist. I've honestly lost count of how many news stories I've seen where a judge sentenced a cop to prison time but suspended the sentence. Another big issue I've seen happens a lot is a prosecutor not charging at all or making a deal that the only thing they have to do is give up their certification for the state their in even though they would lose it anyway if convicted (so pretty much a free pass).

ALL citizens should be held accountable equally under the law. To hold one group to a higher standard, would then demand the option to hold another group to a lower standard. Neither option supports the foundation of law in this Republic. I would agree that sanctions should perhaps be greater for those who break a sacred trust, whether public servants or those who embezzle from their employers, again violating a sacred trust.

This woman will have nightmares about what happened to her! She needs to go to extensive counseling so she doesn’t get into a relationship like this again. She has battered women’s syndrome & I know this because I’ve been there & done that…..& people ask why didn’t she leave him, why did she continue with the relationship? She was brainwashed into believing he loved her by his many apologies after the fact and showing her own Sargent what had happened in the past & they did nothing. It’s not easy to walk away when you truly love someone & then have an inner fear of them!!! I believe there are many officers out there that abuse their wives/significant others & get by with it because of the fear they instill in their victims. I know a few myself that have never served a day in jail that have abused their wives unmercifully. He should have gotten a lot more time in jail! Not trying to blame the victim because I understand that the cycle of abuse is hard to break. That being said, her and her son’s victim impact statements were a bit surprising! Yes, she stated the 12 long years of abuse she stayed through , but like the Judge said, victim impact statements have two parts….. 1) The abuse the victim was subjected to and how it impacted their life. 2) How the victim would like the court (Judge) to handle the sentencing of the abuser. When the Judge asked her about #2, she barely could say anything except for, “I guess he could get a little bit of jail time”! Her son had even less to say about it except, “I’ll leave it up to you Judge”. So, the Judge said he took the victim impact statements to heart, therefore I’m sure those statements didn’t push the Judge to increase the time he was already considering. I’m not saying her description of the abuse she suffered didn’t have an effect on the Judge, but she could have advocated for more “jail time”. Also, when people are sentenced to “jail”, it means they won’t serve more than a year. Anything over a year and they go to prison. So, if she was aware of that and she had to be because she was law enforcement, she didn’t want him serving anything over a year in “jail”! Ridiculous! 😤

The victim is so brainwashed, I hope she gets some psychological counseling because she is a victim of herself. She holds no respect for herself, when she said well "just a little bit of jail time." Say what? So all of her crying and weeping at the podium was that a show? She's been carrying on an affair with this man for 13 years and his wife is sitting right there in that court and neither one of them. Apologize to her for the humiliation. It is really disgusting, how those who work in the system, protect each other. From the DA dropping the charges down to the police, fireman, and others, who try to help this man get away with it and to the judge, who basically grovels at the feet of the police. If you work in law-enforcement and know the damage caused by violent acts, you should be held to a higher standard, when you commit those acts. Especially, if you drink and drive. Nobody should get a break, after committing a violent crime, because they used to be a cop. This isn’t the first time he abused his wife and unless she leaves him, it won’t be the last. I’m really disgusted by the judges sentence, a whole whopping two years and then he goes and offers judicial review to let him out early, all because the judge loves police officers. The judge is a joke. I think society needs to be protected from you, and jail time is warranted, however, if you ask for judicial review, I’ll let you out early. That’s protecting society your honor. The defense attorney is bordering on victim blaming!! Also - good record?? NO!! 1. This wasn’t the first abuse! 2. The officers needs to be charged by Internal Affairs for brushing his DUI under the rug!! 3. He’s not taking responsibility for his actions! JAIL!!

Now you see , no one gets past the" the good menin blue " ..They cover for one another in this case. They all should be exposed for their disloyalty to their community ! Not all police officers are like this . They do not tolerate this abuse of the badge they proudly represent 💫.. Wear it proud . Protect what you worked so hard to define it's meaning OR take it off ❤🌟

Domestic violence is NEVER ok. How did she respond to domestic violence calls knowing she was suffering this abuse at home? I know LEOs are human too however this lady is a train wreck and does not belong on the streets to protect and serve. She could not even protect herself. The defendant looks like a big doofus! The way he bullied her is likely the same way he treated suspects on the streets. She knew he was a monster and yet she allowed it and did it for 13 years. How could she say he deserves “a little bit of time in jail”. They both are a disgrace to the badge!

I cannot believe that the honorable Judge sentenced this ex-police officer for a term of 2 years behind prison bars. The ex police officer should have been sentenced to a much longer prison sentence then just being sentenced to 2 years behind bars. The prosecutor should have never made a plea deal to lower the assault physical abuse charges that he in fact, and knowingly physically abused his girlfriend at the time. This ex-police officer should have really been sentenced to about 25 years behind bars. Considering the fact that this ex-police officer seriously injured his girlfriend at the time, and where she could have died as a result of this experience officer's anger, and that he chose to harm her. The X police officer still got off from the crimes he committed against his girlfriend at the time. The prosecutor should have stuck to his guns, and refused to make a plea deal with the defendant. If it had been an average person in the community home assaulted a woman, that average person would have been severely sentenced to a long-term behind prison bars 2 years locked up, and even though he can never serve as a officer or in a curriculum serving the community never again, but he still got off easy considering the fact that he could have murdered his girlfriend if she had died from her severe injuries that this ex-police officer inflicted upon her. When he is finally released from prison after serving serving his sentence, he will recommit the same sentence of crime unless he gets some kind of anger management counseling, and a long-term counseling, but it would have to be ordered by the court, or else this ex-police officer will never succeed in any kind of psychological counseling.
@carolbecker24934 ай бұрын
It is a devastating disgrace that a ex-police officer is a deplorable, and poor example to society. Government officials whether it be state officials, or federal officials, but nevertheless, they all should be held to a higher standard, and their punishments for committing a crime of any kind should be handed down harsher sentences then that of average citizens whom they are supposed to protect Karma and treat equally according to differs of situations. It is apparent that this a police officer is a angry man, and his punishment for abusing his girlfriend, and attempting to murder her, and it was attempt of murder, even though he physically abused her, but he inflicted not just simple mean words to her, but he overpowered her physically, and this man whom served as a police officer, and whom almost murdered his own girlfriend, had she had died from her injuries regardless, he would be looking at life without parole, if not the death penalty. It doesn't matter whether one is a police officer, a congressman / state senator, or a Federal Senator / congressman, all officials should be held accountable regardless regardless. It doesn't matter if one has a mental disease or not, this should not be an excuse to have been overlooked, and disregarded. This ex-police officer inflicted extreme physical abuse / emotional abuse upon his girlfriend, and he did so knowingly what he was doing was wrong. For the safety of the public this ex-police officer should be sentenced to a harsh sentence of imprisonment to be determined buy a parole board as to when a parole board fills it is deemed that this ex-police officer is able to be released back into society. The judge May set a term line of years imprisonment, but a judge should also add to this next police officer sentence, is determined by a parole board feather down the road after serving x amount of years behind prison bars. All honorable judges needs to make examples of federal and state government officials when they commit a crime of any kind. We the public, and in the legal system as well, state and federal officers whom is supposed to protect Society what's, but rather of one's own decisions, goes down a different Road of his or her own will. There are absolutely no excuses to abuse another human being, or as like any other crime, as this ex-police officer physically and emotionally abused his girlfriend. He should count himself blessed that his ex-girlfriend did not die as a result of her extreme injuries. He has severely injured her Beyond emotional repair, and as well, Beyond physical healing. In fact, her emotional and physical trauma will take many years to overcome, as she will find it difficult to put her confidence in other people, and she will find it difficult to pursue in other relationships down her Road 2 a successful healing process.

Wow just f’n wow the badge even saved him from the Judge sentencing him. Judge what if it was your daughter or granddaughter this now convicted VIOLENT offender was beating on? I get there was a plea deal of up to 11 I say it again ELEVEN years incarceration but you’re the Judge who DOES NOT have to follow or even give the lowest amount of years and you was in the Gallery listening to your daughter give her impact statement and you hear with your own ears the judge sentence a Convicted Violent Offender to only TWO freaking years. How is that sitting ok? To me as a domestic violence survivor 😢 listening to this Judge in a way praise this convicted criminal for the 27 years on the force! Uh excuse me judge your honor did you not hear he was abusing the lady for 12 yrs of those 27 yr while on the force? You not hear the abuse she took from him out of those 12 yrs and how he would drink at the bar uh this man had ppl covering for him he had put a disgrace to the badge he honored long ago. The bartender at the bar should carry some kind of punishment for serving a policeman in his bar who was on duty wearing that badge and uniform It must of been a reoccurring thing to happen for bartender to serve him while in uniform there should be an investigation into the department now that he has been caught. Rest assure I bet he’s not the only cop drinking on duty at that bar if One is getting away with it there is definitely more. Your honor if this violent criminal is getting a low low deal such as the sentence your laying out. Best be ready to have it thrown back at Cha down the line from other woman beaters violent offenders to bring it up during their sentencing. Just saying be prepared to give others the same leniency. Good grief I’m just at a lost for words how this Judge sentenced this guy. Clearly this ex cop has many influencers behind the closed doors so much so this Judge is going along with it. Smdh smdh dv victims aren’t worth the air they breathe at least in front of this judge that is. 😮🤔😳😬 sorry 😞 I’m calling like I see it. Don’t come for me this just imo again imo imo imo 🤟🏼🤔👌🏼
