Pinky is capable to assess distances between towers as there are tools that measure the distances but only the crows eye can be measured accurately. It's also critical for the defense to seek a full map to assess the sites network coverage as a phone can be right at the edge of the network foot print and that would make it probable that the accused was kilometers from the scene.

At what point did the phone pick up the other tower. We have to remember that tower covers a radius of about 2km and plus . Lets assume the tower was picked up at least 3km on average from the actual tower. Now what is the distance from the tower to the khumalo residence it might be another 24 minutes.

All these are nearer Alberton, that is to say, on the other side of Spruit/Katlehong, about 5 to 6 kilometers from Spruitview houses. However, there is a river between Spruitview and the main township of Katlehong. The river (or die spruit) between Spruitview or Vosloorus and main Katlehong is also known as Natal... I have listened again to the recording on 18 th June . Sibanda is using the time lapse between calls from 17:45 to 18: 07. The challenge here is that the phone was not moving from the physical tower but through the are covered by the tower which could be a radius of between 2 to 5 km. At what point did the phone pick the other tower and when was the device coming from. It is not a simple matter of calculations but there are other factors involved. 1. At what point within the spruitview radius did he make a phone call. 2. Which part of the Hout street was he when he made the first call. 3. What is the distance of the Khumalo house from where he made the spruitview call. Which means we have to add time to that or reduce time if he had passed the house.
