Can we just stop with this stereotype of having the main lead end up with the female lead and all? I mean we won't mind a plot twist where it's important to have one. We all want the writers to surprise us because c'mon we all know Ji Pyeong is the one Dalmi loved all the way. It was him, in the letters. She loved the boy in the letters who is technically Ji Pyeong minus the name. Ji Pyeong always had her back and will continue doing so, his small gestures for her. Everything.

I dunno honestly i think this drama go against the trope, Han Ji pyeong seems more like main lead to me, we got his backstory he was explained more than do san and his actions are always shown. He just doesnt feel like main lead because main girl doesnt like him, so.... I personally like it, no childhood fated bs, just an unexpected love, just like real life. So many dramas like to portray that you need childhood fate and this drama doesnt seem too be going down that pathwhich i like. It is more realistic

it's not impossible. i think in the end dalmi will choose jipyong. cause she trust him and she also have said before that she will still choose the dosan who wrote letter for 15years ago because it make her warm and comfortable. logically no matter how far she go she will definitely miss her home that makes her nice and warm. so i think in the end dalmi will choose jipyong. then dosan back to america :)

You guys wanna know what went wrong with Start-Up? >Lengthy post ahead< The writer chose the underdog as the lead. He/she wanted us to root for the loser instead of the successful character. The audience needed to pity Nam Dosan. It was intentional that the writer gave Han Jipyeong everything in the BEGINING: connection with Dalmi, career, wealth, looks, good relationship with parent figure, and a reason to succeed. On the other hand, Dosan didn't have any of that at the start. He was a loser who couldn't get a girlfriend, smart but also stupid, he had no money to run his business, he has issues with his parents, he didn't even know what his dream was before meeting Dalmi. A lot of people are like this these days and wroter wanted to resonate with them. I am certain that he will gain everything the end, turning the story upsidedown. Start-up is a story about gaining everything you want if you are determined enough to go for it, and not hesitating multiple times when you already had a chance (carpe diem, something like that). I think that was what the writer is trying to tell, similar to Reply 1988. Also, the story revolves around the start-up business world. Its a new and unique area to work on. That itself is interesting, so I think the writer only added the romance to spice it up a bit. The romance was only secondary, and that explains why the writer opted for the less interesting romance route with Dalmi and Dosan. But sadly, they made a mistake with Han Jipyeong's character. He was supposed to be another side character whom the audience can emphatize with, but his story became so concrete and sturdy that it outshined the main character's arc. I think the writer also loved writing his background that it went out of control lol. It also didn't help that they revealed Dosan's backstory later. Although it made sense that it was timed when Dalmi found out about the lie, it was also too late because the audience is already rooting for Jipyeong. To me the script was not the problem. It was the execution. It also didn't help that Kim Seonho's acting outshined Nam Joohyuk's. A lot of unexpected things happened. I honestly feel bad for the producers of the show. They must have been stressed because of the pressure from fans and management 😅 Sorry for being too lengthy >_
