This is a super informative video. I actually used most of it in my SEO report. It's really helpful insight because, until now, I've never used data blend and had no idea how it's done or what it will show.

Great video thank you, being new to Looker Studio are there some templates I can play around with?
@apothecamarketing17 күн бұрын
There are a number of premade templates from Google on the Looker homepage and a link to the template gallery that will give you a place to start.

Top KW(1-4) should really be Count of Clicks for KW in Avg position (1-4), the metric selected in blended data is Clicks.
@apothecamarketingАй бұрын
Average position is also available in GA4 via the GSC integration. The "clicks" from the GSC table really weren't necessary in this example.

Thanks a lot! Learned many things. Is there anyway to list down keywords based on position range?
@apothecamarketing4 ай бұрын
Glad it helped! You should be able to list keywords by rank by creating a filter for query position above "x" rank. You can also just sort the query list based on highest rank first.

very informative. is it somehow possible with crossfiltering to display keywords in each keyword group? e.g. clicking on the 1-10 and the second table shows the keywords for the selected group. That i only need 1 extra table instead of multiple with different filter on it.
@apothecamarketingАй бұрын
Possibly. We haven't played with that yet, but I'll check it out and see if it's something we can do a video about in the future.

Great video - but I can't see Add a Field in my data column - any idea why this would be?

You may not have the correct access for your Looker dashboard.

I came across this video and I thought it would be the answer to my problem but alas it was not. The keyword buckets make no sense to me. It is showing majority of our keywords are in the 1-10 keyword bucket when I know that this is definitely not the case. I suspect that the data is being sampled here and is causing the strange result outcomes. I think this solution is better suited to smaller websites that have a couple of hundred/thousand ranking keywords and not something that has hundreds of thousands. I'm not sure connecting GSC directly to Lookerstudio is the answer to this (for me). I think I need some ETL directly on the GSC API.

Yes, data coming from Google Search Console is generally limited to a sampling of 1,000 keywords. This is generally fine for the large majority of sites, but can be a problem for larger sites. One workaround for this is to use the GSC API and export your data to Google BigQuery. That data can then be pulled into Looker Studio from BQ. We don't touch on this in the video, since it's a bit more advanced, and isn't a free solution.

@@apothecamarketing In this case it might be a solution to change the groups? So, 1-3, 4-6, 7-10 and then the rest above 10? It will give you a hint about how these keywords are performing?
@apothecamarketing2 ай бұрын
It really depends on your business and how you'd like to see the data. That's why it's helpful to be able to change the filtering based on unique need.
@Yanik-t1gАй бұрын
The reason most keywords appear in the 1-10 bucket is that Google Search Console only tracks impressions and clicks when users interact with search results. If a keyword is ranked lower, say at position 45, it won’t be measured unless someone scrolls to page 4 and generates an impression or click. This means keywords that seem to be underreported in lower positions are simply not being seen or clicked on by users. For larger websites with hundreds of thousands of ranking keywords, this can create the perception that the data is being sampled or inaccurate. However, it reflects actual user behavior. You may know that you rank for a keyword at rank 35 but as long as nobody is going there its not been tracked.
