When I first heard this and read the lyrics, my mind kinda connected the beat changes as the uncanny emotions and creepy tendencies Sunmi does here. She meets this stranger and begins to be interested in them but she doesn't know how to approach them and is conflicted between two sides of herself. A pure one but fake or someone a bit eerie but also interesting. She makes an image of herself that represents her other way of approach to see the difference. Only to find out that neither of them will ever work. Her mind, the beat changes, they're all her internal emotions to this stranger. Yet what she thinks will never work out because she looses herself in the process (like what's shown in the MV where her other self is taken away). The entire ordeal is her "trying to find herself" because she's the only thing she has for now.

Based on the MV and the way she is creating and seeking out her "best self," maybe Mr stranger is the thing that takes her away from herself. Like her BPD. Something like a monster, hiding and waiting to snatch her up when she is least expecting it. She is searching for the answers in the darkness but only finds herself again. Her imperfect self, loose screws and all. But that almost "unhinged" quality is what makes her "Sunmi." Someone unique, someone captivating. She can't help but film her movements, appearing mesmermized. She becomes beholden to her own condition.

Trying to understand the significance of the figure she runs away with. Especially when you consider, there's no male dancers. She talks about "Mr" Stranger yet only the only "man" who appears in the entire MV is the figure she ran away with. Every other scene is just her (and her back up dancers who otherwise have their identities covered, making them more of an extension of Sunmi). She's only concerned with "fixing" herself or crafting a "best version." I think the short film provides a lot more context and story! She released the director's cut today. I don't have time to think on it too deeply though lol I hope other people can analyze it for us 😅😂

Coming back to this bc wow. I’m not one to give critics on music bc im truly not that talented like the rest of you all lol but i love when kpop songs accurately incorporate concept within the sound of the music. To me the video screams creepy chilling uncomfortable disturbing and the music gives you exactly that! The beat changes is one thing but the choice of beat as well is so sublime ahhhh. The identity of Sunmi the human being, which was created by all of that has been gradually rejected. What is left? The Stranger ie Carl Jung's archetype, the Shadow Self. The dark side of the personality that everyone has, but do not want to acknowledge. The part that is not imposed by society, but comes into the world with us buried deep in the most ancient part of our DNA. It's powerful, dangerous, and exciting. By removing most of what society tells us we are, you will inevitably come face to face with the Shadow self, because it cannot be banished only suppressed. That is what culture is for and war is the ultimate expression of when culture fails to suppress the Shadow. Sunmi seems to be struggling with that and we'll have to wait to see what she does. It's not over.

Came here after watching Eunchae star diary. Sunmi seems like such a laid back person and listening to her was so relaxing. I'm tired seeing those delusional Seulgi stans disrespecting SUNMI the Queen of Concepts everywhere. SUNMI's concepts always inspired by her own life story, her past works, some movies and Miyane. The audicity to claim she's inspired by or copied 28 Reasons acting as if 28 Reasons was too original when even some concept photos/scenes from 28 Reasons have similarities with (or should I said copied) same shots in SUNMI's previous releases like Siren, Noir, Pporappippam, Tail, Oh Sorry Ya, Heart Burn and even one part of the dance also similar to one part of Gashina.
