6:29 and 8:20 those are high bush blueberries. The ones you mentioned back in Canada are Low bush blueberries, which are common in the wild down the East Coast. We have low bush down in New York too. From my experience growing the two low bush are sweeter, but lower yield in fruit and good eaten fresh. When compared to high bush which as a ton of fruit but not really sweet, it's good for baking. Low bush survives the cold, and high bush dies from the cold. Low bush is good for your balcony space because it can take up less space, and you can leave it in the same pot for year. High bush will take up almost a meter in space when it's fully mature.

Ohhhh, thanks so much for the info! I just knew they were different from what I was always accustomed to seeing back in Nova Scotia! Maybe we wouldn’t have room for one of those after all 💦

@@2hearts1seoul You can technically prune a high bush back in height , once a year. But from what I read high bush is the common one they grow in Korea. The other problem is it needs 3/4 a day of full sunlight. No wonder I see them growing abundantly well on the mountain top trails in New York.

I appreciate the partying in your 30s comment, as I'm a *sings in Jenna Marbles* 32 year old ladyyyyyyyy. My life is also basically consumed by my plants (I grow orchids as a hobby and have two 8x8 raised garden beds, blueberry beds, currants, blackberries, apple trees, a tea garden, etc on our property)... COME TO THE DARK SIDE, BECOME A CRAZY PLANT LADY LIKE ME! Make some pesto with your basil, Sarah! The view from your friends' building was awesome! And happy belated Canada day, from a 'Murican who just celebrated the 4th of July! ♥️

I’ve been growing basil myself and just to give you a heads up you can freeze the leaves if it over grows too much. Also if it starts to flower you can cut that off and use it for a tea the taste is AMAZING and really good for you!

Plant both basil bushes in a large soil filled bucket. It will grow much bigger. The small pots dry out and restrict the root growth. The best thing I’ve found to do is have 4 or 5 plants in an XL bucket. Then you’re not harvesting off the one plant and you’ll have the bush for months, if not the year.

seeing the plant stands on your verandah + covid boredom inspired me to try to grow an indoor herb garden. i don't have a green thumb so a few weeks ago i decided to just get a few basil plants to see if i'd kill them. i managed to keep them alive so i recently bought a plant stand, some proper planters and a watering pot. now i just need to get some potting mix and more plants. i'm trying to pace myself because i can see how easy it is to get addicted to plant shopping.

Hi guys!! This is a tip I learned from my dad. Use an ice cube and place it on the base of the plant. The plant will absorb the water much better. I kill everything lol but last year I decided to buy a mint leaf plant and I put an ice cube every day... so far it’s alive 😅 - I tend to put two small ice cubes at a time and let it melt.

@@2hearts1seoul Oh well darn! Even in my rural American city it is hard to find apartments with yards if you don't have lots of money. I have a tiny yard I love so much. It is wonderful you have more space now and can use the veranda as more than storage. Also the basil probably should be repotted soon into bigger pots otherwise it will get root bound which stunts the growth. My cat Bella leaves my plants alone since she can eat grass and I hang the poisonous ones from the ceiling just in case.

Easy recipe... i don’t use exact measurements I just eyeball it..lol. Combine about 1 to 1 1/2 cups basil leaves. 3 cloves of garlic ( or more I love garlic) most people use pine nuts but you can and I do use walnuts. I usually do a good handful. Then about 1/3 cup of Parmesan cheese. Salt and pepper to taste. Then start with 1/3 extra Virgin olive oil. Blended it together in food processor, blender, etc if you want it less thick add more oil, play around with ingredients. Enjoy!

I had no idea blueberry bushes could be grown like that! Also, just a thought on the blueberry bush though is I would assume they have flowers which need to be pollinated to make blueberries, so you'd have to expose them the bees and such. I don't know if you can open y'all's veranda, but just a thought before you by it. Perhaps that bush is somehow modified so that isn't necessary but for $25, I'd guess that isn't the case; definitely ask the shopkeeper because you never know. Happy Dominion Day! Love the video xx

You can mix basil, tomatoes, a little garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper. Put it on toasted baguette. Bruschetta, Yum!

Cute veranda garden. Just FYI. Herbs do best in direct sunlight or at least the brightest light possible. They may enjoy being closer to the window.
