I'd be cool if one day this could be in the Olympics. This sport is really physically demanding and looks really cool and complex. Should be in more countries.

In my Muay Thai gym we used ST Balls on a rubber band with a weight as moving target practice for punching. They really hurt when you punch them. Can only imagine how it feels if you get them bycicle-kicked in your face. Much appreciation for these two sports and the sportmanship expressed in this match!

You know, besides the amazing kicks that these guys do, another amazing aspect that most people don't know is when they are using their heads cause these ST balls are as hard as a rock. Takes a lot practice and a lot of KO's before you can get used to it. Trust me, I know, used to do it as a kid and the first few times I tried it, I tapped out like it was an MMA match.

As cool as it is, defending those smashes or whatever you want to call it seem impossible in this sport. If you're serving you're almost gonna lose the round it seems like.
@saltylemonz2584 жыл бұрын
This game is usually played in 3 vs 3 so defending those rolling kicks are not that impossible but it sure is super hard. I played the sport until highschool and I can't remember how many times I've broken my wrists both left and right and sometimes at the same time while trying to land safely.
@221BBaker4 жыл бұрын
Is this really a fault in the sport though? I think this is a goal that the players will have to develop a strategy to play against making the sport that much more competitive.
@kellymckinly19364 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is part of the game. You have to develop the skill and a plan on how to receive and control the ball. It's kind of like volleyball and passing in that since. Going along with what you said, the servers do lose the point a majority of the time, excluding aces. That is why the server changes every three points. To give the opposing team a chance to gain points. So with this being said, in order to win it is a good strategy to try to win almost all of your receiving points and then to win a few serving points as well. That way the point percentages are not equal or against you, but in turn in your favor.

@jesserondinelli51603 жыл бұрын
i think it remains uniquely southeast asian, i don't think it's caught on globally just because if bigger (heavier?) players tried a lot of the demanding aerial techniques involved in this game, they would probably hurt their knees and dislocate their elbows coming down a lot more than these guys. it's still pretty awesome, i'd give it a more casual try for sure.
This sports should be more popular than it is. It is just that no country is able to play it because of the amount of skill it demands.

@brisaoliveralana88243 жыл бұрын
Agree. I'm a volleyball player and if anyone did that at least once in a competition the person would surely be punished. I watched the women game Thailand x Vietnam and that's the usual way they react after a point
Is it just me that loves the idea of the sport and got super excited and then realized it's not a well thought out game because there is too much of an advantage on the offensive compare to defense. There's almost no back and forth, feels alittle dull. But this is just my 2 cents, it seems like a great athletic sport nonetheless
