In example 2, if we solved for the constant beforehand, how would we know to not accept the negative version of the solution?

Hi Farhan, Solving the constant earlier would still give you c=16. That doesn't affect our choice for the plus/minus. What makes us choose the positive version for the function is the initial condition itself. If we have y(0)=4, that means our y value is positive 4. Later on you would still have to choose the positive root function for the graph to go through the point (0,4). If our condition was y(0)=-4, then we would choose the negative root function, since we would then need the graph to go through (0,-4).
