Phenomenal Video. FYI, in the final battle with Aerith during The End is Nigh phase, I would stagger him then use Ascension and a couple Bravers but still kept getting wiped by an instakill Octoslash. Instead, I repeatedly used Spellblade the entire phase through all the chaos. Not only did it keep Aerith alive, but I easily killed him in one attempt without even staggering him. Highly recommend this strategy for those struggling like I was during that final 10% of his health.

That phase goes super quick with finishing touch +/- aga spell depending on sephiroths health at the start of the phase. Just conserve the atb bars and full limit when you reach the threshold health. I personally have enhanced expeditionary medal and limit siphon on cloud. It also makes the earlier fights go quick since all the party members start with a full limit just use cloud to siphon off them. Having gotterdamerung on Aerith you can do guaranteed at least 3 finishing touches in that fight with limit siphon

Thanks again for your hard mode boss guides. I went into this fight with what I thought was a bad materia setup. I had Healing-Magnify on Cloud instead of Aerith because I was getting wrecked in the very first phase where Cloud and Zack are fighting together. I had Healing-Auto Cast on Aerith and boy did it surprise me how useful that was! Since you're controlling Cloud most of the time, the auto healing spells coming in after taking some damage was so helpful. Your guide was especially helpful learning how to dodge all of Sephiroth's moves. What I would do after pressuring him by interrupting his Whisper Cannon with Spell Blade is immediately use Focused Thrust with Cloud, then switch to Aerth and cast Fira inside of Arcane Ward (if she wasn't inside the ward I would ward shift her there first), then use Focused Thrust with Cloud a second time. If timed correctly, this is a guaranteed Stagger. Then when I had him staggered, I'd use Spell Blade twice and finish with Braver unless I had the synergy ability that would raise their limit level. Getting them to Level 3 limits before the final phase is crucial, and I suggest saving Aerith's limit for the end in case you get there and Cloud doesn't have his limit. In the endgame phase I had Cloud at about 90% limit but Aertih's was full, so I used hers, then got Cloud up close to Sephiroth and used his. This brought Sephiroth to like 1% HP, and I had 2 ATB so I immediately cast a Firaga with Cloud to finish him off. I'm mildly upset Sephiroth robbed me of a level 3 limit break finishing move but I'll take the win. Glad to be done with hard mode, it was so challenging but so rewarding to have completed it. You aren’t forced to play as Barrett vs Bahamut Arisen. I got Yuffie and of course had no barrier ability since it was on Barrett instead.

If one really wants to play it safe and not restart the hard mode gauntlet after difficult fights you can do the chapter in easy fly through it and see the order then restart it in hard. I think it’s based on character relationships so if you restart it should be exactly the same. It wouldn’t change unless you went through the story and changed those factors. I did chapter 14 hard 5 times last couple days and it was always the same order.

If you suck at dodging (like me) Aerith’s Planet Protection level 2 limit is great for the final fight. Nothing funnier than getting hit by Skewer just to see the sword impale you with “immune” popping up. The protection doesn’t last very long though.

Bro thank you so much for the guide. It took me about 3 hours as I somehow forgot to put revive on Cloud for the final fight. I kept losing due to Heartless Angel and then his follow up attack killing Aerith. No way was I gonna go back through all those fights to change martia. Somehow got super lucky on the fight i did win, as I used Aerith's limit Break just as he cast it, which made her immune as she was in the animation. Then followed your advice for the octoslash move. She died during the final move, but Cloud has enough ATB to use Inifity's End once he staggered and that was it. Oh and one thing, during the Bahamut fight, I had Cait Sith instead of Barret. Didn't matter too much as Tifa is my main so this stage of the fight was a breeze. Just though I'd mention it in the future in case anyone wants to put magnify-barrier on Cait Sith as well as Barret, in case it happens to you too. Thanks again bro.

agreed, apparently he stops casting gigaflare during the cast if you hit him enough, completely baffled on my clear. And that was after going back to the zack/cloud fight so I could add barrier=magnify to someone. The group seems to be static to your save file, so you can prog it with some foresight once you've seen it. It's just kinda frustrating not being able to swap loadouts until after you know and having to do other fights again leading up to it. I thought for sure the gimmick is to stagger him before he gets the cast off, which gives you maybe like 20-30s depending on how much shit he does before gigaflare, but yeah no clue he just stopped casting it midway through me punching him and shit and then just started doing the dive attack again. I'm like whatever I just wanna be done with this roller coaster of a fight already lmao. Jenova was bad enough with sheer randomness of the attacks, just random lasers throughout the entire fight, I've still no idea how to dodge some of the red death laser attacks, the camera is awful in that fight lol.

Hi. Sephiroth's beam slashes are counterfire-able. Works in the Zack or Aerith duo fights. Thanks buddy. The breakdown of the moves really helped. For the next installment, I hope we can get a combat sim function that lets us fight against a single boss just so we can study their moves. Barret was my last man standing in the elemental wing phase. I had 1k Hp left Sephiroth went into his spinning hadouken mode. Had to pause and watch this part in your vid, then saw I had two ATBs and I can focus thrust 🤣 Nail-biter. Haha. Once again, thank you man!!! On to the last Chadley mission for the Plat! ❤

Imho, the final set of Sephiroth fights are much easier than the Legendary VR Bouts w/ Cloud + Zack. And you cannot edit materia from the Jenova fight onwards.

You can also counter fire during the end is nigh. It does a huge amount of damage and makes your character immune to projectile damage. I didn’t know you could double thrust him. That was super cool. I kept getting hit by the upwards shooting beams but the main horizontal one which does huge damage, I counter fired it twice and it did enough to kill him. Super nice. I never thought about using spell blade, that was great haha. And strangely I only saw him using Octoslash after the end is nigh, never just randomly. It was a good boss fight. Not too random as you said and challenging without being cheap and unfun. What an end to an amazing game. Platinum trophy after 195 hours finally haha

Very well made guide. I’m gonna be honest, I forgot to put a heal on Cloud, so I kept dying to the second phase of Sephiroth Reborn. 😂 This was super useful for dealing with him during Bahamut. I usually keep barrier on Barret or Red, but I’d have likely kept dying to Gigaflares and trying to raise my way through it. My tifa build was broken though, so as long as I got Unfettered Fury off, I’d break the wings in one Divekick each. Also really nice use of spell blade. I never really used those ones much because of the charge times, but they are very nice damage when you can find an opening. Thanks for the tips! 🫡 Hard Mode done! Last two Legendary Bouts to go! 🎉

Grats. The Sephy one is pretty easy, but the Zack took me several attempts. I also favor Spellblade/Powercleave since it does about as much as Braver, but w/ 0 ATB cost. It actually builds almost 1 full bar on Cloud + partner.

I conserve my atb during the fight and wait for openings like whisper cannon whirlwind or octoslash to pressure him. If you don’t have the atb it’s tough. It’s super easy to do it this way. I do double fira for octoslash I have swiftcast plus fire and fire plus magic focus on cloud

Stomping other than the last fight nothing is difficult. And if you fight 2 enemies that is rude and elena for example just use sleep on one of them easy and go by the enemy intel every time. And as far as fighting enemies are concerned just run past them in most of the game I had to fight enemies like 3 times only other than bosses.

I think those bahamut/seph wing fights are semi preformed, tifa/cait for the 1st and red/barret for the 2nd seem to be static and the 3rd member seems to be whichever one you took on a date or possibly next highest excluding the 2 that are already there. Maybe not the date, but it seems to have something to do with affection in some way. Either that or it's completely random and a coincidence who I got on multiple playthroughs.

The final phase is honestly such bullshit. It took me 9 attempts and on four of these attempts, he used Heartless Angel and IMMEDIATELY used a move that would kill me before I could Curaga. I began just saving my stupid limit for the stupid attack so I could be immune and survive and Aerith could heal herself. Dunno how this fight is doable without Gotterdammerung, good fucking luck cause I needed every single limit for immunity.

Dodge (circle) and push attack (square) and repeat after 3 wind slashes. If you keep mashing attack after the 3rd projectile, Cloud does a gap closer.

It took me about 5 hours to clear Jenova and Sephiroth. And 3 of those hours were the final phase of Sephiroth. Hard mode kicked my ass and I had to dig really deep as a gamer to clear some of these bosses. In a way I'm proud of myself for pulling it off but not gonna lie it was a lot of stress. Gi Nattak, Galian Beast and Rufus really frustrated me. A lot of times I got super close to winning and but was so low on HP I got one shotted. Just wanted you to know you're not alone in taking a long time to KO this boss, it's super tough. Hopefully you beat him already but if not good luck and you got this!

I do double firas for octoslash on masamune and wing. I think it’s easier to do this fight saving your atbs in anticipation for the whisper cannon or whirlwind or octoslash. I did chapter 14 hard 3 times last night

You can restart from the segment you died in without going all the way back to the Cloud and Zack one.

If you pick the top option when restarting it takes you to the cutscene where the group kill bizarro Sephiroth and Aerith appears for the duo fight. Stupidly you can't skip the cutscene, but you shouldn't have to redo it from the Zack bit at all.

Fuck this fight, it’s super cheap, I didn’t have issues to the last part of the last form, it took me a good 3 hours and not in a fun souls/Sekiro type way but a bullshit why did I keep getting 1 shot. I had to turn my power bar into 3 forms and then just hit I’m with soul drain 3 times healing wind to heal both of us and finally braver and firaga to finish them off. Fuck that shit.

I'm sorry but 1 those 3 are not who you get for bahamut, and 2 having to know ahead of time to bring barrier on the random 3 people you don't know you're gonna control ahead of time is just bad game design. The boss looks like he can be pressured before doing the gigaflare, but you only have like 20 seconds to do so. I can get him to about 4/5 on the pressure gauge at most out of yuffie, tifa, and cait sith which is the 3 I had for this. I would've loved to have barret because he can actually push the pressure gauge very well. But if you're telling me the mechanic is simply "use manaward on everyone and tank the attack" 3 bosses into the gauntlet with random people in the group then yeah that's just a poorly designed fight. I wanna enjoy these games but man they are dropping the ball hard on some of these fights with the randomness to the fights. Jenova had a barrage of completely random attacks with just laser light show dodge fest I never knew when something was gonna shoot me. Some attacks I can dodge but others seemed completely random. And you don't know who's gonna be in your team. It's just poorly done, but man this "use manaward" is just ass I'm sorry but it is. Edit: After having finished this fight (initially came looking for help to beat the bahamut portion), apparently bahamut just decides to stop casting gigaflare if he's hit enough during the cast, actually no clue at all why that happens. Surely the gimmick is to build enough pressure to stagger him within the 20-30s time limit before he casts gigaflare, or rather before it goes off. In my clear however he just kinda stops casting it mid-cast I was completely dumbfounded, this was after I went back to the zack/cloud fight so I could reset loadout to put barrier=magnify on someone, and didn't even need it apparently lol. Who knows, some shit they do in this game just baffle me, makes absolutely no sense, love it and enjoyed my time but good god are there a lot of glaring issues lol

Bro i really strugle the firsts phases, my team composition was diferent and i get caitsit twice when he was the one with less materia equiped x_X ... glad that after zack everything was fine >0< Zack phase is almost free, next i get yuffie barret and red, 2 tanks for yuffie... and for the final phase i had both over equiped xDD I had cloud with the amulet to max his limit, and idk how but i used it almost at the end to prevent his death, during the animation cast meteor with tifa, and when sephi enter in his damage check last phase i had the 3º limit again with cloud ... not sure why but thanks god :)) Thanks fo the tips!

Yeah the last part of Sephiroth isnt that bad. Its mainly just remember to have ATB to heal. The End is Nigh phase had me shook so I just saved my limit breaks and ATB so that I could triple slash 2x and then Finishing Strike LB to guarantee victory. Its almost the same in yhe simulator from what I can see. Gilgamesh looks qay tougher

I kept getting to Bahamut but I keep getting Red and Cat. Why did they destroy this FF part so brutally? As far as I'm concerned, they can add a hundred characters that you can control yourself, but what's with this crap with the trust %? Just leave it out, I can't finish the game because of it. Above all, Cat doesn't even have a trust %, so why does he appear, wtf? Was the creator high? I'm finishing it from Bahamut. Since this game is a terrible failure, I'm leaving it at that. I'm definitely not going to spend my whole life trying to get Barret. I don't have enough material to fill 7 characters and I don't want to take a chance on the hope of getting the right one. As far as I'm concerned, you can do it all like that and I would overlook it if you could change your set up before the fight. But since you're playing on luck here and don't even get a gold trophy for it if you play on hard, that confirms my theory that this game is crap and there are no more capable developers. first game in which I invested so much time, nerves and above all hatred. I even bought the €400 edition. I deeply regret it and will sell it again. For me, it is by far the worst game of all time. For me, the first part is and was the best and for me it stopped there and will remain that way. For me, there is no sequel. And I won't even watch the third part. It will probably be structured like Mario Party, with mini-games all the way through. Sad...
