Well technically, the first canonical time Sephiroth showed an interest in his mother in the timeline was Chapter 5 of the First Soldier I think where Sephiroth just shows Glenn and the gang a picture of Lucrecia and asks, “Do you know my mum? Hojo says her name is Jenova.” And he was only sad when the P-0’s didn’t know her 🤓

Good ending: Beyo feels bad that he is an orphan, adopts him by technicality and helps be better. Bad ending: Sephiroth gets very angry at Bayo using that move against him, goes into Safer form and uses Supernova 500 times in a row

You didn't finish. Bad ending: ...and then Bayonetta summons Sin Gomorrah, absolutely destroying him. Both the endings depend on her + she'd just dodge all of his attacks in the worst case. In the best case, those wouldn't even scratch her once delivered upon.

Yeah, I think there's only one and a half characters in the entire roster who still have a named mother by the end of their games. Ness (who the taunt is still effective against because he actually gets debuffed if he goes too long without calling her), and Lucina (who has basically every possibility depending on player choices; the most hilarious in this context is probably a female Robin who's present in the same fight).
