Sephiroth is nothing short of a walking tragedy. A man that never lived life freely and was constantly under the abusive cowl of Hojo from the time he was born to the time he went insane. And has been living nothing but a lie, falsely believing his mother is JENOVA when in face she was just some equally fucked up doctor that was supposed to have gotten with Vincent. I genuinely believe if Sephiroth was born under Vincent's watch he'd be the greatest hero in the history of Final Fantasy. But of course Hojo ruined everything and fucked everything up for everyone.

You can tell it's 012 because it has the "Assist" mechanic that isn't present in the original game. Additionally, 012 is an expansion of the original Dissidia more than a sequel, so all of the original content from Dissidia is also present in Dissidia 012, including this story.
