As someone who is a few years older than 10, i apologize for this behavior. I went into a Sephora like 2 weeks ago and I was the only one there. I was looking at products that the employee was recommending for my dry skin and being polite. Then a group of teenagers walked in and were like side-eyeing me. I was being very polite in my opinion, thanking the Sephora employee. Then the employee told me I was one of the nicest younger persons she had all week. How terrible is that. People should have basic respect for others.

Hello, I am a 13 year old who has just recently started shopping at Sephora. I have NEVER touched a tester for skincare. If I do, I grab the tiniest bit with the swabs they provide. I wouldn’t destroy products ESPECIALLY if they aren’t mine. I also only shop there when I am with my mom. She educates me on what is good to use for my age and what I can wait for. Parents should be with their kids in more grown up stores like Sephora. I don’t think we should ban kids, I think we need to educate them on how to use everything properly. I’m not defending the kids I’m just stating what we can do. This is just my opinion and my personal opinion!! Thanks for reading all of this if you did

The problem is that allowing some kids means that all kids have to be allowed, including those who have disrespectful parents who never taught them manners. I don’t blame the children, they’re being raised by their phones and iPads as opposed to being raised by their actual parents, who are meant to set a good example. I’ve found that the rudest children are those of millennials, which checks out, they’ve had a rough life lol 😂😂 I certainly think that they have to enforce some sort of age restriction, parents have to monitor their children at all times, and if a child is found alone or is destroying products, the child and parent are to be removed and banned from the store, whether it’s temporarily or permanently.

I think that there needs to be a rule in place, like- kids under 13 have to shop with an adult. This is not because I hate kids, but if you look at the prices of some of these makeup and skincare products, they are not cheap. Definitely should also have the rule where if you ruin the testing products, you have to pay for it, because Istg these kids are doing this to the test products because they can’t afford to get their own and that is NOT acceptable!

I think we should enjoy our childhood as a 12 year old girl like we are blessed with soft baby skin! I get we are growing and getting older and we all have acne, but that when all we need is a gentle face wash and a moisturizer! Like we don’t need plumping lip oil with serums and toners!!! Never in my life have I visited, nor even been in a Sephora store. After viewing many of these videos, mainly about 10 year olds in Sephora, I certainly think that I never will. Sephora is also very expensive, and I could easily get a nice skincare product or makeup product from a much more simpler and cheaper place, such as a local walmart or target. The Sephora kids also appear very terrifying, in which they probably are, which is another reason why I'll NEVER go to Sephora. EVER.

As a 12 year old, I first want to start by first off saying this is absolutely disgusting, the way young adults, and older teenagers are handling this. If you do not feel comfortable in a Sephora store with a younger child that has the same interests as you, leave. I’m sorry hun, but you don’t own the world. You’re not the queen of everything. If you’re bothered, honestly just leave. Nobody is hurting you, just looking up to you. It is very disturbing how you’ve made it your mission to shut down young children’s hobby’s with makeup. Nobody really cares what you think about their decisions, or what products they buy. It is none of your business and dose not apply to you. There is nothing wrong with a younger audience being interested in the same products as you. Yes, they may not need it, but they want it. I get it with retinol, but otherwise everything’s basically out of jealousy. I’m sorry that when you were a kid that was not popular and you did not have an opportunity to afford nice makeup products like younger children can now. Please stop this. It’s unfair.

If you pump the cream out, at least put it on your arm or something. Don't just leave it to dry up. I was definitely using skincare at 13, but certainly not retinol. I had cleanser, toner and moisturizer. 3 products by clinique that my aunt had bought for me. Glow recipe and drunk elephant have super cute, colorful packaging. So of course kids are drawn to them. I don't use DE. They were cool back in 2016 until we all realized the products were overpriced and no better than other products. Kids made it popular now because paid influencers are telling them it's cool. But I guess it's better than experimenting with drugs or something 🤷♀️

Serious question. Why do people just call it “skincare” like “I have skincare” instead of “I have skincare products” or “I use skincare products” Do kids think this stuff is new or something? Skincare isn’t a thing you own, skincare products are. Skincare isn’t something you have, it’s something you do. But every young person I see on here commenting keep saying “skincare.” Please enlighten this confused millennial.

This is incredibly sad but I must say that this out of control behaviour isn’t just limited to Sephora. It’s happening literally everywhere. I used to work for Spirit Halloween and this past year I declined my position because I can’t handle being around the out of control kids who behave this way because their parents either find it funny, or just straight up don’t care. Expensive items completely destroyed because of kids and parents filming them doing it. I now work for The Home Depot and I gotta say, your kids don’t belong there if you refuse to pay attention to them. It’s not a playground. A stack of 2x4’s is not playground equipment! So many injuries because of parents not paying attention or simply not seeing a problem with their children climbing on home improvement materials. If we say anything, the parent gets mad, says we have no right to tell them how to parent! We’re not telling you how to parent, for f**k sake, we’re trying to prevent serious injuries! Stop taking your children to retail stores and treating the store like it’s a playground for your kids!

I am an 11 year old who has hit puberty and has gotten their period at age 9, and I think it’s fine to wear a bit of make up at our age like maybe to festive events or really big things like my brothers graduation, but otherwise I don’t think people my age who haven’t hit puberty should be wearing and using all of that stuff, no one else in my class has hit puberty and I’ve told my classmates that sometimes less is more but they say it’s “fun” when in reality they don’t know that they’re ruining their soft skin. I for one, just use a cetaphil cleanser which is gentle and for sensitive skin and for makeup I just put on some concealer, blush and tinted moisturizer, and for lips a lipgloss and lip balm before it. Do you think this is ok for my age and the stage of life I’m in?
@mamsy116910 ай бұрын
Totally fine especially if you already have your period. And the acne that comes with all that. Oh I don’t miss it whatsoever! BUT at 34, I have zero issues now. Less is more in my book. Puberty wreaked havoc on my forehead but once I got older I grew out of it. I even think some foundation would be appropriate given the circumstances if you’re having acne problems too. I don’t remember when I started wearing makeup but I BEGGED my mom to at least me wear concealer at some point in 6-8 grade because I have olive skin and dark under eye circles and was self conscious about them

I’m a 11 year old who is pretty new to Sephora. My mom says I’m not allowed to use drunk elephant bc they have bad ingredients for kids. When I go to Sephora I buy perfume, lip balm’s or lipgloss. I would NEVER touch a tester and ruin it. I only go to Sephora with my mom so she can limit me of what I buy. And I would never steal something and if I did I would kill my self. 10 year olds has to understand that their ruining their skin at such a young age. My mom has always told me if I use retinol and ingredients for adults at my age my skin is gonna be ruined by the time I’m older. No hate to the 10 year olds but they don’t need retinol at such a young age.

Your mom is right. Retinol is meant for 25/30+ year old skin and is a harsh ingredient, but if you have acne during your teen years you can use adapalene (differin) which is another form of retinaldehyde, but it’s specifically meant for acne.

But some girls my age or older need to be using these products for their acne or skin problems and that’s ok , but if you have perfectly fine skin you don’t have to be using these stuff. I personally am so angered by these girls and especially spending lots of money on unnecessary stuff for their skin?? At least use a sunscreen a serum to be a bit extra a cleanser and a lip balm / lip oil that’s it! And Ty for reading this , it’s no hate and I’m just expressing on how they should be more clean and stop being rude to the employees.

This is gonna be super long so apologies in advance. I was just at Sephora yesterday. Now I was there with my best friend and she takes forever to shop so we were there for like 3 hours…..not only was the Drunk Elephant section perfectly okay, as well as Glow Recipe but there weren’t any kids in Sephora at all while we were there, and the only people checking the products out were college students and grown adults. I think a lot of us need to stop acting like Gen Alpha is the first and only generation to be into skincare, makeup, and luxurious items because they’re not. Literally us Gen Zers were going crazy in the early 2000’s for Victoria’s Secret and Juicy Couture, and then the 2010’s it was Too Faced, and Clinique…almost all of us were into makeup as teens and even kids, whether it was stealing makeup from our mothers’ makeup bags, playing with play makeup from Claire’s and Limited Too, having those kiddy styled makeup vanities, or going to CVS to buy some makeup….almost all of us have had an intro to makeup when we were younger, we’re just shocked to see Gen Alpha being way more into it. Now do I think little kids need to be using expensive makeup products and heavy skincare products? Of course not, they don’t need it however….there’s nothing wrong about a child wanting to play with and experiment with makeup, and skincare just for fun. As for skincare, it’s self care…..just like how we have to wash our bodies everyday and take care of our bodies….well, the same goes for our faces because we should wanna take care of our faces. I just think that kids need to do actual research on what products would work best for them, as well as go to a real dermatologist. I think a lot of us grown adults need to stop making these videos because it truly makes me wonder what the actual goal is with these videos. Is the goal of these videos to showcase their “bad attitudes?” If so, that starts with their parents, a lot of these parents have bad attitudes and don’t really try to raise their kids….Is the goal of these videos to get kids to stop using expensive products? If so, there’s way to do that and to teach them that without making videos to practically shame them, and tearing them down. Or is the goal of these videos, to shit on them and tear them down so much that they eventually end up hating themselves, losing all of their confidence, and have no self esteem regardless if they wear makeup or not? Society and social media already makes these kids feel insecure about their looks…..Gen Z, and millennials don’t wanna be the reason that Gen Alpha ends up hating themselves for life over this.

The problem starts with improper parenting and social media. When we were younger, we didn’t have access to easily see what products the grown-ups were using. The only way to see what was trendy was by flipping through a teen vogue magazine at the grocery store or finding a computer, usually at the library or a computer lab, and searching on Firefox lol. Kids now are being influenced by adults. There needs to be an emphasis on child friendly forms of media, since kids aren’t watching cartoons, reading, or playing outside as much anymore. Also, I don’t know about you, but I only started to know about Victoria’s Secret and Juicy Couture after I hit puberty, before that I used to always wear GAP.
@alyssarose281810 ай бұрын
When I was a kid we used to get lip balms from the grocery store, it would either be baby lips, lip smackers, or eos (when it became more popular later on). The problem is that kids see all these fancy things on social media and think that they need it, when in reality, they’ll do just fine with some Vaseline. They have such easy access to the internet, which makes things worse, it’s like a positive feedback loop. When we were younger, we could only see the trends in a teen vogue magazine or on Firefox at the library/computer labs. I wasn’t aware of any trends until I was older, and wore mostly GAP for all of my childhood. I have no idea what OP is going on about when it comes to VS and Limited Too, because I didn’t even walk into those stores when I went to the mall lol. I still don’t even feel comfortable walking into VS. 😂😂 I didn’t even own makeup until I turned 16, and even then, it was just a lip gloss, 3 lip balms, and I liquid blush that I bought myself for my birthday. At 17 I owned things like concealer, mascara, lip tints, blushes, eyeliner, and a tinted moisturizer, but I had my mother’s approval with every new item I wanted to purchase.

Otherwise, if they're just minding they're own business using the testers properly and shopping for products then it should be fine. But I NEVER EVER EVERRRRR would do the disgusting things to the testers and all. The things the Sephora workers have to do and deal with that. That’s not what they are getting payed for. Also I agree what 10-12 needs anti aging cream 😐 that makes your skin WORSE. They buy all that cause it popular and they want to show off to their friends and act cool and all. But most products are making your skin worse and you want to keep buying them to cover up the mess the products create. The on,y skincare 10-12 ages close to that should only be using like a cleanser or face cream like CeraV and for makeup I say that girls in that age gap should at max curl their eye lashes and maybe we’re like a slightly pigmented blush if they want the sensation that there wearing makeup. 😅 thank you for reading this. From a former 11 year old/12 year old girl.

As a 13 year old who has been to Sephora I’m so sorry for these people who do this to the testers. It’s disgusting and I am so disgusted by people even my own age doing this to testers. They’re ruining it for everyone.

As a 14 yr old, I remember visiting Sephora just to grab the new Lanige lip glowy balm when I saw these kids looking at the ordinary (which the ordinary can sometimes be very bad for kids) and drunk elephant polypeptide cream. I agree with this a lot.
