SEPTA: Broad St Line Local & Express (Train Race)

I started recording at Tasker-Morris and the walked over to the express train at Walnut Locust for a little train race between the local and express to Spring Garden Station.
Afterwards, i get a loud horn blast from a T/O at Spring Garden going southbound to AT&T Station.

@havenas1020 Yes, I believe SEPTA took the conductors out sometime in the 1990s. When the line had conductors, they would occupy the cab at the back of the train. They'd pop the doors as soon as the train stopped. With no conductors, the driver has to get up and go over to the door controls, causes a short delay for riders. FYI - the 4-track main on the regional rail north out of Market East also offers train races, frequently during the rush when the expresses run.

When did they put in the "doors are closing"? That's not original to these cars, the original sound box would just put out a double-tone when the conductor would hit his door-close button. In around 1989 I heard the tones on some cars getting well off key, so maybe these old boards just died.
