As of this past weekend, the 2002 New Flyer D40LF's are officially out of service. Which means the fleet as of right now doesn't start until 1:00. I did a video dedicated to the recently retired bus here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/moanYWuKh7Jqmbs&t

November 2022 update: 2002-2004's are gone, 2005's are being phased out at the moment.

SEPTA has some high quality buses in its fleet for sure. I hope down the line they consider buses that permit Multi-door boarding, particularly on the articulated buses. Could speed up boarding times instead of bottlenecking everyone at the front door.

do they still ever run the electric buses? i don't take septa much if at all anymore.

As of 2023 we are down to 3 d40’s left as 8080 was retired and sadly scrapped. The de41’s still got time left. 8345 is retired and gone. The BAEBRID’s be popping up after like 2-3 weeks. 3170 and 7450 are still missing in action. 5613 gets to live for some reason? The proterra’s are never coming back. And finally septa did something horrific to 8101. Seems about right to the septa fleet of 2023 lol. If dash sees this then he will be confused of what I been typing for 2 mins

I was just in Philadelphia on Monday filming the buses. I may return to film the 417(njt). Great video though!

Thanks!! I like this one. Question: didn't the 23 used to be a Trolley?
@DashTransit5 жыл бұрын
Yes it was. As was most of the numbered routes.

Well done and for the 800s when operating in diesel generator mode they seem to sound like a bigger diesel lawn mower or a Cummins QSK equipped bus
@RRansomSmith4 жыл бұрын
That's cuz its a motor powered by a diesel generator. It's not a full engine.

The most interesting bus in septa’s fleet are the PROTERRA ALL ELECTIC catalyst E2 busses. (13:24) I didn’t know septa was there yet . I mean they DO extort enough fare from everyday working class citizens & school children with their vice grip on philadephia public transportation to fund such an innovative bus model.Interesting to know 🤔

The electrics were paid for with grants from the FTA and PECO to get electric buses (that's why they're covered with PECO ads). Fare payments cover day to day operations, everything else is covered by capital and federal funds and occasionally Grants.

@@DashTransit Yeah, I thought they were more or less a gift. They only use them on the 29 or 79 since they’re among the shorter routes, which is good for the battery. ANYTHING is better than the old AG trolleybuses that were running on Tasker, Morris and Snyder back when I was in high school (Furness, 1992-96). Good LORD, the old trolleybuses were rattle traps! But I still remember their electric hums...
