Great video! Very nice collection of CoCo acquisitions. The disk drive and controller came together as a package, “Color Disk #0 Kit” in the 1983 catalog. You could get a second drive sans controller for a little less 💰 That CoCo 3 is pristine, I love it. Congrats on your CoCoSDC…it’s THE modern device to have with the CoCo. Looking forward to your next videos!

Thanks! I appreciate the information on the disk drive and controller coming together. I'm such a Color Computer noob LOL! Agreed, this CoCo 3 is in really great shape. As mentioned in the video it does have a couple minor dings, but nothing major. I'll be going into a lot more detail about the machine in it's dedicated video. The CoCoSDC is amazing! I do need to update the firmware on it from when I originally picked it up back in October 2022.

Thanks! The CoCo 3 is in really nice shape for sure! I'm such a noob when it comes to the Color Computer line, but I'm learning. I did have friends back in the day who had them, but I always poked fun at them with my Commodore 64, but now as an adult I see the charm and fun in them! I still like my C64 better though :-)

Dungeons of Daggorath is a fun game. It's starting to grow on me. As for the CoCo 3 being so clean, indeed. I really lucked out getting such a nice looking machine.

I also never had a CoCo back in the day. I was and still am a Commodore 64 and Apple II kid, however I did have a couple friends that had CoCo machines and also TI-99 machines. Now as an adult/big kid, I see the charm and fun of the CoCo line of computers.

Yes, me too. Am a huge fan of the C64 and SX64 which is what I had. I used to talk to my cousin about my computer and he ended up getting an Apple iic, which I got to use at his house and I liked that one too.

Glad you enjoyed it! Hard to believe that it's been 25 years (1998) when I got the SX-64 from a family friend. They were the original owners and as you can see, took very good care of it and I've made sure to keep it nice all these years later. I really do love it.

Seems like Dungeons of Daggorath is a favorite for a lot of early Color Computer users. Word on the CoCo streets is Dungeons of Daggorath is the "killer app" for the computer LOL!

Great SepTandy video! I didn’t know that you could upgrade the CPU in the Coco 3. The disk drive is neat; I don’t think that there as many disk drives that were released for Coco computers as there were for other Tandy computers.

Thanks for your kind words! Indeed, there are a few upgrades you can do to the CoCo 3. Upgrading the CPU to a Hitachi 63x09E CPU helps with a lot of homebrew games and also running some arcade ports too. As for the disk drives for CoCo computers, I'm not sure since I'm still a Color Computer noob LOL!

Very cool! As I have told you many times, I cut my teeth on a CoCo 2 I got for my fifth birthday. I have a CoCo 3 my now-wife bought me for Christmas two Christmases ago. I also invested in a SDC... very handy device. I have a 512k upgrade board, but so far I've been too chicken to attempt installation. It really unlocks the potential to run some wicked games, however, with 512k! I think I'm going to go home and play with my CoCo 3 when I get off work now. As always, great video, man!

That's great your wife picked up a CoCo 3 for you. Sounds like she's a keeper. Which 512K upgrade did you go with? I went with the TRIAD 512K SRAM upgrade from Cloud-9. It's actually a pretty upgrade to do.

Unfortunately the boxes are no longer for sale. I have about 50 left of the original printing of 2,000. I'm going to be saving them for trades. I did make one, purposeful, change to the box design. The top flap is no longer an auto-lock. That closure tears if you open it without great care. Instead I put in a secondary flap to keep the top lid sealed. Also you pronounced Daggorath incorrectly. It's not "ROTH" it's 'RATH". Jeez, you need better CoCo friends. (smiley)

You did an amazing job on the boxes for sure! Just for comparison I need to find an original box to see this auto-lock feature you speak of. Apologies for pronouncing Daggorath incorrectly. I blame the crazy font the marking team chose to use LOL. As for needing better CoCo friends, you've got that right :-)

@@geekwithsocialskillsThe new box has an auto-lock closure on the bottom flap. You see auto-lock's on everything, you just didn't know the name before! I worked in printing/packaging way too long.
