September 30, 1990 - the final game at Chicago's 80-year-old Comiskey Park. A very emotional day for Sox fans as Carlton Fisk, Ivan Calderon, Frank Thomas, Bobby Thigpen and other favorites made a final lap around the stadium.

Nancy Faust's final playing of "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" at old Comiskey Park was faithful to the Steam original and exactly how she performed it during her first eight years as White Sox organist from 1970 to 1977. She almost exclusively played an altered, more gargantuan-sounding version of it from 1978 to her retirement in 2010.

Was there. Shame they (the owner) Didn't at least keep the old front wall of the stadium from dugout to dugout and incorporate with the neighborhood

They needed that space for the exterior ramps for the new ballpark. As it was, the outer walls of the old ballpark were crumbling, which is partly why it was painted in white to begin with. The old Comiskey Park was falling apart, it was time for her to go. Circle of life.

@@mcorivervsaf the wall could have been repaired. Much older structures are restored , thousands of years old. And they could have kept it even with a ramp. Slightly reconfigured

@@mariocisneros911 You seem to forget that baseball is a business. The original Comiskey was past its time, and needed to be replaced. That exterior wall of the old ballpark was crumbling, along with the rest of the ballpark. Why do you think it was whitewashed to begin with? The bricks were deteriorating, and that outer wall was painted white to disguise the fact that it was falling apart. It costs millions of dollars just to maintain the old ballpark. There is no point of keeping an old wall, to appease the old timers who miss the old ballpark. So, if they keep one wall up, who is going to maintain it? The owner? The City of Chicago? That would be a massive waste of time and money for all involved. Furthermore, as I mentioned before, the space was needed to put in exterior ramps for the new ballpark. That was a design flaw, I will admit, but it was necessary for anyone who is handicapped or disabled. You still have the home plate area, which marked where the Sox once played, but other than that, the original Comiskey is gone. It had to go, there was nothing else that could be salvaged. You gotta move on.

Sad that Comiskey is gone and yet the tourist trap on the north side still stands. Thank you Nancy Faust for a fitting send off!

@@Polack-ml9fh At least Frank Thomas (the Big Hurt) got to play there, even if it was just for one season. I went to about three games in the Old Comiskey, and one in the new.

Scott Bradley-Even that 'tourist trap,' along with Fenway Park, will eventually come tumbling down. Nothing lasts forever.

You could tell the 1980s were over. 2:21 Look at all the police on the field. Never again would we see fans storm the field in MLB once the 1990s began!☹️
