September 2024 Railfanning in Cincinnati, Ohio; Featuring CSX 1982 and CSX 1875!

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Cincinnati, Ohio! Today's video compilation of Queen City Railfanning features three heritage units on a couple Sundays of railfanning here in Cincinnati, as well as other busy action at the Hill. On the first day at the hill, Cincy Railfan Productions and I saw a very busy late-afternoon with a couple of awesome catches. The first was a rebuilt Canadian National SD75I that was converted to a SD70ACC. This was my first time in a long time seeing a freshly rebuilt locomotive that was not in a paint scheme. Later that day, the final train of the day (NS Manifest 123) featured Norfolk Southern 4822, which reads "Moving the Weight of the World" on its side. It is a rather neat locomotive with red striping instead of white striping.
The second great catch, and for that matter, the third great catch of the day was the second "foamer special" of the year with the Seaboard System Hertiage Unit and the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Heritage Unit on CSX manifest M511. This was the second time I caught two CSX heritage units on the same train, and the first one I saw was also at this very location back in January with the Monon and the New York Central leading CSX autorack train M216. This was my second time seeing the Seaboard System leading a train and my first time ever seeing the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie. I now have seen eight CSX heritage units this year alone, which is pretty great considering how new they are.
In addition to the two heritage units, another hilarious and great catch was the enthusiastic CSX conductor on the northbound manifest M510, and shortly after that were a pair of good ol' Dash 8-40CWs leading the Indiana and Ohio (I&O) manifest train back to Norwood with a Southern Railway boxcar. As many of you may know, the sun set on the CSX Dash 8's at the end of 2023, with many being sold off to shortlines and regional railroads, and seeing two of them in action here today was a tremendous bonus to seeing the heritage units.
I must say, this was a pretty great month of railfanning once again here in Cincinnati with the three heritage units in the span of a month. I hope to see more CSX heritage units in the last few months of railfanning here in 2024, and would ultimately like to see ten of them before the year is over.
