@@Prasad001 I had my surgery 6days ago..... It's little hard to have water or liquid food until they remove the nose pack. For me, they took it out after 2 days. Those two days you've to really be strong and tolerant. After that, once you get removed, you'll think you'll be freed, but no. They discharged me at that day of nose pack removal after having me for 6 hours after the removal for checking any bleeding. After that, I got little little bleeding very rarely for two days. Then eventually everything got dried and rough. Today I went for check up. They cleaned my nose with some water like solution in syringe. After that cleaning process, within 2-3 hrs, everything detached from inside and came out...... Now I'm freeeeeeeely breathing like never before. Huh 😌 such a relief after a week of this procedures. But this cleaning should be done 3 times a day (half an hour before meal B-L-D). But once itself I'm feeling great. After all cleaning process I'd feel even better I hope.

Had this done a week ago along with a turbinate reduction surgery. I was under general anastesia, however (probably due to the turbinate procedure). I had some mild problems with throat pain (from breathing tube placed while under anastesia), mild nosebleeds, and lots of mucus. The ENT prescribed Hydrocodone for the first few days, so it was manageable. The worst thing was the sniffly nose. You cannot blow your nose for 1 month after the procedure and you just have to dab your nose. It was more of a nuisance than pain. If anyone has this procedure coming up, don't worry! It is very mild compared to other operations and you'll be up and running in a week. Good luck!

I had this procedure about thirty years ago after being diagnosed with a twisted septum. I had to go private because the problem wasn't noticed by the specialists I saw on the NHS. The surgeon was surprised by this and why they hadn't picked up on it! During the consultation I was basically given the option of either waiting another 12 months on the waiting list or having the surgery in two weeks time. I was in so much discomfort that I chose the latter. It wasn't cheap, but well worth it! I left the hospital the next day and still remember how fresh the air smelled! I was able to breathe much better and also my left ear did not feel blocked. The surgeon told me that I may need to have it done again later in my life. I think he was right because the same problem may have come up again. I'm just waiting for an examination. Well, it was good for thirty years, so I'm not complaining! I'm 67 now.

My nose is pretty even it was just the inside that was extremely crooked but you'd definitely have to get a rhinoplasty on top of the deviated septum surgery to straighten the nose on the outside. Cost in Australia was pretty cheap, I have private health insurance so about $200 for the procedure and the rest was covered by private heath. The anesthesiologists was about 500 dollars though so that was the most expensive part of it. definitely worth it Im almost 2 months on and feeling so much better!!!

I only took 1 pain killer and that was after my surgery and today i just took some Tylenol. If you're thinking about it, get it done because I can already breathe better even with the splints in. I had this done back in October 2013 and it was horrible experience. I ended up in the back in the hospital this night of the surgery because of serve bleeding. The septoplasty wasn't as bad as the turbinate reduction. My nose would gush blood for weeks after the surgery and I had to be fully packed twice after coming home form the hospital. Even over a year after the surgery,the roof of my mouth is still sore to the touch. Note to anyone having it done, expect a hard time taking meds or anything by mouth for the next few days after the surgery if you have full nasal packing. I felt like I was choking on everything i tried to drink or eat and I mean EVERYTHING. While I can breathe better I wouldn't do it again.

I do not recall ever having the ability to breathe through my nose after enduring a childhood injury during a basketball game at the age of 11. I kept putting off this surgery for about 6 years until one day I decided to just get it over with.. I had my deviated septum surgery + turbinates 6/30/2023 and I am on day 8 of my recovery.. despite the swelling, the bruising, and the pain I still believe I made the right decision because today I experienced breathing through both nostrils for the first time! the air passing through my nostrils tickled my nose and brought tears of joy to my eyes.. If you are suffering from a deviated septum and are questioning the procedure... just do it ! it will change your life for the good. good luck ! hope you have a speedy recovery.

To be fair I watched this video before my surgery and it did look pretty savage, but at least I fully understood the operation; hence less panic when you see cuts and stitches in your nostrils. :) I'm a month on after surgery, no pain killers or nose bleeds, walked out of hospital the same day. So not as horrific as some of these comments. Anyone who has been offered a septoplasty should go for it.:)

Just came to say I've done it yesterday in the morning. This is my second day of recovery. PostOp is not painful but rather a bit annoying. Throat Pain, I guess because of tubes while operating and afterwards because you breathe on the mouth only. The second day of recovery is much better. Pain 1 or 2/10. Will take of splints in 6 days I think and can update you. In general you don't feel a shit so don't be scary to go for it. I only remember going to sleep after anestesia. And next minute I am walking up in the room to a nurse telling me it all went good. I paid 1500 euros in Bosnia for this Op. It is not scary at all you will not feel much pain it's just a stupid sense of stuffed nose and having to breathe through mouth. I can't wait for the day to take off splints as they say it is the best feeling in the world. Also, I will update you on my life improvements and everyone here tells they noticed them.

I got this done (+turbinate reduction) 3+ years ago and it was life changing! For me, it was reccomended because my septum was badly deviated (it zig-zaged basically blocking both nostrils), and also I have allergic and exercise-induces asthma, so the doctor said it would definetly be beneficial in my case (more air flow during exercise, more filtration for allergy and better breathing altogether). I can't imagine how I lived before, I remember I couldn't breathe through my nose for more than 10-20 seconds before feeling lightheaded. Now I do 40+ minutes yoga/meditatons only breathing throug my nose!! I'd say the final reasul appreared after one year from the procedure.

It just feels like a a lot of pressure. Bending down or lifting anything is a hard no lol. I sleep sitting at an incline because if you tilt your head back, all that blood will rush to your throat and it’s just really bad. Ive been mostly using straws to drink water and mostly eating soup. Obviously after the surgery and the day after I was bleeding, so I had to constantly change my bandages every like 15 min. By now, it’s mostly clear with hints of pink. I mostly breath from my mouth but i’ve started to breath just a little from my nose from time to time. I have these plastic stints that are stitched in my nose so I’m not allowed to blow my nose but I gently clean inside with some q-tips. My teeth ache also after the surgery and the day after. It’s pretty much nonexistent now. The nurses warned me about the anesthesia before and after the surgery constantly. So when I woke up with a little burning in my forehead and throat I knew it was from the medication. It’s since worn off and I’m okay. It’s kind of easy to get sick after the surgery. You’ll feel a little groggy. Try doing some light coughing and deep breathing exercises. Just to make sure that stuff isn’t traveling down to your lungs. that’s pretty much it. I’m excited to heal more and be able to breathe lmao

I am 26 and had septoplasty with turbinate reduction and endoscopic sinusitis a week ago, was discharged in 5 days after the surgery. The surgery took about 1-1.5 hrs and was done under general anesthesia so didn't feel a thing. I had splints and not nasal packing, so there was at least some air going through my nose. They provided me with nose drops (BGX solution) so that my nose doesnt get clogged. For the initial two days, even if I just sit straight for 5 mins, blood would start slowly dripping from my nose. So had to mostly be resting in a slanting position. But after that it just happens around twice a day. Splints were removed a day before discharge and that also wasn't painful. There was no significant pain in the nose throughout. Though overall there were painful things common to all surgeries, like pain in the mouth because of breathing tube used in general anesthesia. And also the pain from the IV drip used to deliver antibiotics and pain killers. Be sure to the drops/spray or nasal rinse regularly to clean the dried up blood. Because if you dont clear it, you will feel an irritating pulling sensation when you try to eat something or smile :)

After 20+ years of sinus infections and headaches, I finally went to see an ENT Specialist at 41. After examining my nasal passages, she asked me if I ever sustained a head injury. I recalled a bike accident in college when I flipped over my bike and hit my face. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital with a mild concussion. My doctor suggested I deviated my septum as a result of the accident. It totally makes sense to me because I started having sinus issues shortly thereafter. I had suffered over 20 years with throbbing pain and infections. Now, nearly 30 years later, I can honestly say I have not had one sinus problem since. Don't suffer like I did for all those years. See a specialist and get treatment. It really works!

I just had this done on Monday. I was in surgery for 2 hours but I had some other things with my sinuses they were doing. I felt okay until a few hours I got home and I had a massive headache. I ended up getting very nauseous despite the nausea patch I was given. I threw up a lot! Today is post op day 2 and I have only taken half of a Percocet and have been relying on Motrin bc I do not want narcotic induced constipation but I'm in a lot of pain right now. So I will take another half later. My nose is very dry and my skin is so oily for some reason. This is not easy at all.

just got this done three days ago, the pain is more annoying and uncomfy compared to real pain. my tonsils hurt bc of the post nasal drip, but the most uncomfortable thing is the splints in my nose. they’re deeper and just starting to dry out, so i feel them more. mostly my head felt heavy and my inner ears are sore. total pain was about a 5/10 for the first 3 days. ik it looks scary but guys if you need it done, please do it’s. why suffer the rest of your life when you could suffer just a few days for relief for the rest of your life? go for it okay?

I got this done and I remember waking up during surgery to them using the osteotome and mallet and I felt the pressure of it knocking in my nose but no pain. I was on so much drugs I just didn’t give a fuck I remember lmao surgery went well though, I could breathe very well and my sleep apnea went away. I recommend doing this surgery, don’t be discouraged by how it looks on video.

For anyone wondering, this is an EXTREMELY painful surgery. I have a relatively high tolerance for pain and I felt suicidal during the first couple of days after the surgery. The peak was when they removed the packing. However, from the third day onwards the pain was about 70% less and after a week it was totally gone. If you have a severely deviated septum, they probably will not be able to fully correct it with endoscopic septoplasty, like it my case. Although, I can already breathe much better than before.

I think I’m in the same boat with my ENT confirming it won’t completely resolve my issues. Do you happen to have sleep apnea as well?
@Tidus39604 жыл бұрын
@@Xound_ Didn't have sleep apnea. I still slept well despite having an almost completely blocked airway through my right nostril.

Sapphire that’s really lucky, I’m definitely the opposite with severe sleep apnea. Hopefully the surgeries resolve it, your review on the pain of it all have me worried, the ENT suggested I have the surgeries seperate to help. Appreciate you responding :)
@Tidus39604 жыл бұрын
@@Xound_ It's indeed really painful. Your teeth and throat may also hurt in addition to your nose due to the mouth guard and breathing tube they are required to use during the surgery. Not to mention the feeling of nausea from the GA for the few hours after the procedure. Nonetheless, you'll get over it :)
@Chris1021022 жыл бұрын
probably up to the surgeon as to how painful it is, I had this, an FESS and turbinoplasty and the only pain is when I touch it, even then, not that bad. Punch me in the nose then ok you got me good.
@twoleftfeet9626 Жыл бұрын
I had this surgery with turbinate reduction done 18 months ago here in the UK. I had NO pain after surgery. Some discomfort, but NO pain. You can't blow your nose for a week, and you won't be able to lie completely flat for about 4 weeks because you will feel everything pulling in your nose. I had no splints, and no packing (they don't use it here anymore) I had to wear a pad underneath my nose for about a week to mop up the goo. I was passing a lot of scabs through my nose for about a month (they don't warn you about this, and some are pretty big) but after 4 weeks it suddenly stopped and that was it. Even 18 months on, I still can't believe I can breathe so well through my nose. My sleep has improved, and the hayfever season was a LOT more tolerable. I wish I'd had this done 20 years ago, rather than waiting until my 40s. I have a low pain threshold and was amazed I was in no pain. I took zero painkillers after the operation as they were not needed.
