VC finding unicorns are far and few between but when found they are exponential in return compared to the total sum of their portfolio. Peter Thiel mentions the power law. 80/20. Expect 80% of investments to fail. But that 20% which is high-risk becomes not only a win but the next breakout success like FB, Google, Uber, etc.

Are you using hyperbole here? Or are you just unaware of how statistically improbable that example is ... (1/6)^20 = 1 over 6^20 = 1 in 3.66 quadrillion .... so no, there will not always be someone who got lucky 20 times in a row. But that's always been the nature of VC. They have the lowest strike % of all investors but seek to make up for it through (hopefully) extremely asymmetrical payouts. Finding a unicorn is FAR lower than 1/6 ... in reality, it's a lot closer to 1 in 50 because 9/10 startups FAIL.
