Until recently, ESL didn’t seem to have a very deep music pool from which to play during the ad breaks. Sera was one of the songs they had and it played very frequently - it has a distinct chill vibe and a melancholic energy to it (also see the lyrics) so it very quickly became a popular meme in pro cs:go twitch chat - so much so even the casters or the “text guy”; the person who updates the banners in ad breaks, sometimes made references to it in between match summaries. Thus, a new meme was born.
