I think the Belgrade Waterfront project is good in the sense that it is modernizing a part of the city. I think we should have more modern areas in Belgrade, while also preserving the old ones. However, my problem with Waterfront is that it is owned by foreign investors. This I do not like because I do not want Belgrade to end up being owned by international billionaires rather than Serbians. I is fine to have some districts that have been financed and owned by investors, but as foreign interests in Belgrade increase, we should be careful not to sell too much of our country. With that said, I hope you are enjoying your stay in Serbia and I wish you both good health and happiness.

@@sekiro6976 No they don't live from 300, mostly DON' T. You lie and caricature a lot. In Serbia, only 20% of people work for 300 or less Euros. That is why the average is 520 Euros with literally the cheapest prices in Europe. If it were as you say - the average would never be 520. There are 20% of people who really work for that much but are in a large minority. Honestly, none of my friends, acquaintances, relatives, no one works for 300 Euros. The vast majority have more. That caricature of politically one-dimensional haters is sad to say the least. Thanks God there are very few of you and that is why the people have read you and cleared you from the political scene. That auto-chauvinist note is expressed in you. In Serbia, almost every child has an android of 200-500 Euros and a computer, everything is better in Serbia today than in 2008 or 2010. But you are some blind from hatred.

Actually, a lot of serious political analysts claim that the Belgrade Waterfront investment is just money laundering from previously obtained HUGE amount of money by the Serbian ruling party during the period of 10-15 years prior to this, and that this construction business is performed under the 'ownership' (only on paper) of Eagle Hills, when the money actually came from Serbian budget. That's why it is so controversial, people have seen through these hidden intentions and don't want to be a part of that. On the other hand, one cannot deny that it will look absolutely amazing. Cheers to you, lovely people!

Fun fact: Serbia's president is trying to make an economic union between Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, North Macedonia and Albania. If that comes to life, all the borders between these countries will be gone and you will be able to freely go for example from Belgrade to Montenegro's and Albania's coastline without border control, it will be so fast and amazing. Also they will be building a fast railway system to Greek coastline. Much more options to explore and much better connection to other cool places in the central and southern Balkans.

For now its 1.8 million square meters btw and its expanding to 3.1 million square meters when you calculate all the parks and the waterfront area they will do. Also most of apartments there were sold to Serbians, statistically speaking around 80%. So yeah, they can easily afford it, specially when you think that 60% of the young people in Serbia are actually outsourcing in stead of complaining like the rest of them! :D But I would avoid the people who complain how life is "shit".. Coz life is gonna shit for them, no matter what! Enjoy your stay, we moved here 6 months ago, we love it.

But, city is full with unfulfilled people who blames all around, hate all around and that's their way of misery they call life. I'm sick of them. Yes. Problem is the way how it is built, rather then design and prices beyond reach of majority of Serbians. They premised investment worth of 1 billion USD, but they invested 30 millions USD. Serbia gave away to foreign investor the most valuable land in the city by dismantling old railway network. City planers were excluded from the project, Serbian laws were amended, people were evicted from their property. Someone's property was literally bulldozed overnight by masked thugs, Serbian police don't want to investigate, but we know who had motives - the ruling party and their friends from Emirates...

But it can be either great and a huge benefit for Belgrade if handled with care for the Serbian People and it's culture, but if done wrong as to create a divide the people and create some elite haven for foreigners it could cause an uprising and those foreign investors will be forced out of Serbia

We don't hate the buildings themselves but rather what's behind them ;) Eagle Hills didn't invest anything in the project, it was tax payers money and this was made to launder it. Materials used are cheap, and Serbian "Government" gave the land for free to "Eagle Hills" witch is the most expensive land in south eastern Europe... There is clear evidence for all of that but we're formally an anarchy right now because parliamentary elections were invalid, so there's not a court that can validate any of it... It's sad what politicians have done to Serbia. :(

People "hate" BW project in most cases because there werent any referendum of any sort what should there be, what kind of structures should be build. They (investors from Emirates and our government) just came in, tore some old buildings, removed old Central train station and started building those huge blocks of apartments, hotels and malls. Its about lack of democracy in short. It is what it is, no going back now, I just hope it will be somewhat nice when all finished.

I don't think it was that. I mean no one expected a referendum about that, we never had referendums about stuff like that. @@zoranknezevic348 I know, but people seems to forgot what democracy is. We dont elect people to be a feudal lords which later do whatever they want, but they instead are elected to be a representatives of their constituency aka citizens. There were voices which urged for more green space at BW area, more culture venues like Opera house or anything else than Dubai-sh hotels and apartment blocks. Good thing for now that there are new jobs, construction is booming and will see how the rest will look like.

Oh this is nothing compared to wht EMAAR is going to do in Albania. You need to come back again in Durres by 2025 when the biggest marine port in the mediterrean finishes. The master plan of the project is already shown and its gonna begin constructing next month. Trust me, it looks bloody incredible. The waterfront in Belgrade as ive seen is just a few tall towers and other things for the river view.

One must understand Serbia has a turbulent past, expecialy the last 30 years. The fall of mighty Yugoslavia that resulted a bloody civil war, fueld by the west in the early 90's. Later on the NATO bombings from March to June 1999, again from the west, expecialy USA. That decade threw back Serbia 20 years. So people got used to old deteriorated buildings, not having money, not being able to travel around and don't really trust the west. This changed with the younger generations, but you have the old generation which can't really grasp the fact that times are changing and modernization is inevitable. Built by the rich, built for the rich. Simple as that.

Odd how only Beograd is internationally mispronounced, yet every other city in the country goes by it's original name.

How much did Belgrade Waterfront pay you to make this subtle advertisement? At least be honest about your video sponsors. You guys lost my respect. Sorry.

This isn’t a video sponsor, we just went to explore the waterfront and get some clothes from the mall but unfortunately most of it was closed so we had lunch instead 😊
