As a dark skined black women with big lips and natural hair, I've been bullied since I was a child about my natural feathres. We cant keep blaming other people as to why certain people get procedures done (surgical or fillers or makeup contours). We have to learn to love ourselves and not put too much thought into how others view us. If the public's option is too much to handle then maybe being a public figure is not for you unfortunately. Years ago, I was looking at one of the shopping channels, and Serene was on there, promoting a black dress with a matching shawl. I was so excited! I wanted to support her business, so I ordered one!! I couldn’t wait to receive it. Let me tell you, when I opened that package, and saw and felt that material, I was bitterly disappointed!! I took it to work to show my co-workers! How can someone, who makes so much money sell something so cheaply made. Needless to say, I returned both of the pieces with the quickness. And I wrote exactly why I was returning them. I even wrote for them to show/tell Serene about her cheaply made clothing, and that she should be ashamed of herself, for allowing that to be attached to her name.

I think the problem with Serena is the fact that she doesn’t know her face and the way she applies make up. I truly wish dark skin black women, especially those who are in the spotlight embrace their god given features, skin tone, and natural hair like many black women used to do. The lightening of the skin, narrow nose jobs, long blonde hair and wigs doesn’t cut it for them. It looks clownish to me. This colorism issue should be a thing of the past, but it has gotten worse over a short period of time. I personally don’t like the way Serena looks, but being darker skin myself, I understand why she did it. As a MUA in my professional opinion,Serena did pretty good with the car makeup. Those two small tubes that she was holding was actually the concealer which is why it was slightly lighter. Serena always looked amazing with much less make -up and a more natural look. She probably feels a lot of pressure to make herself look more glamorous but she really needs a good make up artist who’s worked with the likes of Naomi Campbell or Kelly Rowland to bring out her amazing skin tone.

People will criticize her no matter what because she's a dark skinned black woman with an athletic physique. ...and since when were Serena's natural lips considered big?
