The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The 2021 US Open saw Russia's Daniil Medvedev and Great Britain's Emma Raducanu claim the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first major title, with 18-year-old Raducanu becoming the first-ever qualifier to achieve the feat. The 2022 US Open main draw is scheduled to go ahead between August 30 - September 11.

I've always loved point constructors. Justine could construct a point no matter the surface, it seems so many players today cannot and wait for something to happen. Iga and Ons are two exceptions. The game misses the battles between SW and JH because those two were/are supreme shot makers. I wish the US media had given JH the love she deserved. What a talent! and, her winning % vs SW (7-8) is the best of anyone else (which to me, is a measure of her greatness).

The intensity of chasing grand slams took its toll on Henin that she retired I think a year or two later after this. Just goes to show how much Serena, Steffi, Martina, Chris have sacrificed for the sport. The balancing act required to maintain ones place at the top of the sport has been a struggle even more so now with the likes of Osaka, Kyrgios, Andreescu, to name a few.

We'll never know. Henin had the potential but she had pushed herself so hard physically that she didn't have much left in her I fear. Serena was certainly lucky not to have many other players close to her level through her career. But her achievements are fully deserved.

if you actually look at all the matches from their series, Henin was the only player that hot /could hit a similar number of winners as Serena. Serena normally finished with rather more winners than Davenport and Venus, and /far more/ winners than Clijsters, Sharapova, Dementieva etc. for me, Serena and Henin’s level of talent was very close - Serena *herself said that Henin was ‘flashy’ and very talented, back in 2001. Henin was the only player that made Serena edgy, imho. i have watched all their matches many, many times, especially when i was doing my initial training .... Serena definitely comes out very differently than when she plays Sharapova, for example. In Serena’s mind, if she plays well, the match will not be close against Sharapova - and she can afford to treat her with contempt. Against Henin, i always felt that Serena was very conscious of playing ^another all-around shotmaker.

Justine was always ALWAYS a better tennis player than Serena ... Better forehand and of course a far superior backhand (the best ever) But Serena had firepower, never a great tennis player (she couldnt even come to the net) a very onedimensional player but she dominated with power and fear and that was all it took (and also Justine was never afraid of Serena and that made a difference)

@@kc9509 There's no point of comparison when the reason for longevity is their health. Serena played longer but also suffered from a series of injuries. But she made comebacks successfully. On the other hand, Justine retired for the second time due to her injury sustained in Wimbledon Open.
