​​​​​​​@@thedevilsingsinthechurchsc8707 This match is a indication why Venus never won another grand slam. Venus lost to the eventual champions at the US Open in 05, 07, 08, 09 & 10. It was all mental with Venus. She didn't play the US Open in 2006, so ever year she played at the US Open 2005-2010 she lost to the eventual winner. She just couldn't close out big matches against the top players. Venus also lost a close match at the US Open to the eventual 2017 winner Sloane Stephens. Would Assumed she would learn from her losses with all the years and experience she had on the WTA tour but she never learned. I remember the build up before this match I knew Serena was going to win she just seemed more tenacious than Venus.

This USO was a turning point in Serena's carreer. From this moment on, she improved even more and on this improvement she built her future GS wins, so many of them, after turning 30. Amazing athlete. Everyone else would have stopped there, but she went on playing and winning :)

This is my least favorite match of Venus whole career. To me this match solidified her choking matches away the rest of her career. She had so many chances to win this and would have gone on to tie Serena with 8 slams a piece. She’s not looked comfortable against Serena in big matches since and is always pressing.

@@ca6660 their h2h was 7-7 and Venus beat her at the US Open the previous year and beat her in the YEC later that year. Jankovic mostly had success against Venus on clay courts.

Serena was always going to have more slams than Venus. Serena is just the better player overall. Serena stepped her game up and Venus wasn’t able to keep up. It happens. Since this Serena has brought her best tennis against Venus at the slams.

It's not about heart. Venus always fights to the last ball. Venus wants to beat Serena just as much as Serena wants to beat her. The difference is that Serena is mentally stronger in the big moments, while Venus cracks.
