A couple experiences love at first sight and leaves it up to destiny to bring them back together again.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
After the long-delayed Town and Country, director Peter Chelsom turns in his second 2001 effort with this love-at-first-sight romantic comedy that revolves around fate, destiny, and chance. Jonathan (John Cusack) and Sara (Kate Beckinsale) are two New Yorkers already in relationships when they meet one another, each reaching for the last pair of cashmere gloves at a department store. Over coffee, they strike up an intimate conversation, and Jonathan thinks they should see each other again. Unconvinced, Sara arranges an elaborate series of "fate" games; if they're meant to be together, she reasons, she and Jonathan will receive some sort of sign in the future. Flash forward several years, and the two are at opposite ends of the country -- Jonathan in New York and Sara in San Francisco, both engaged to be married. Still, neither can shake the memory of their chance encounter, and they both enlist their best friends (Molly Shannon and Jeremy Piven) to help them find their true love again. Serendipity had its Gala World Premiere at the 2001 Toronto Film Festival.

probably the best romantic movie out there. the way john cusack and kate beckinsale have sparks in their eyes is so realistic it really makes me believe they are made for each other. the chemistry is so good that i do not even question the 10 year time span. i am really thankful for this movie. watched it like 2 years ago for the first time and it literally made me feel good for a whole week. this has something magical.

I also realized that the few times I've watched it. The movie is still one of my favs, tho. Ion exactly know why but maybe because of the nostalgia it gives me. Although the Serendipity is cliché asf, I still love the feeling that this film once thrilled me when I first watched it (the 12 year old me honestly doesn't care about the predictability of such a thing). ​@@kristodalipi8325 c'mon its a movie. Isn't it about Serendipity and it is shown that the 2 are thinking about that night as they proceed. As it shown Cusack is checking every love in Cholera book. Though Beckinsale is not shown collecting 5 dollar bills. And this message has been given lots of time. Though in the movie I feel it should have been shown that the 2 other partners get to know about this secret. Bit probably the makers did not want to challenge the sensibilities of the audience and played safe. I just wish they had allowed the theme of this movie to play to its fullest. I would have made the movie an all time great. But in the end its just good. But good enough.

for me the movie is great :) actually at first i thought it was selfish of them to find each other when they're both engage with different person but overall it reflects human behavior. their personalities was like a mirror to a human soul when it comes to love, it's either you'll turn yourself to a stubborn looking for your pipe dream or marry someone and pay for eternity of empty-ness that the one you marry can never ever fill (Coz you know even though human beings have some striking resemblance to each other we still do have some differences that makes us unique). I mean their is no harm in the message of the movie, It just display how our actions affects our future, its all about decision making that we do everyday. and i am not saying go to NY and bump to a stranger days before Christmas, like what Sara said in the movie "soulmate is a very crucial term to use about what's happening to your life" but its not a crime to do what makes you happy even if it means breaking your fiance's heart for the fact that you've been dating for like countless years/ living together and he still doesn't have any idea of what your finger's size is (It kinda breaks my heart co'z the movie showed how Lars take Sara for granted). no hate guys just love the movie and NO I didn't come here because of BTS and other stars.

This is my favorite Christmas movie that isn't actually a Christmas movie. But I've actually talked to other people about it, and we all think of it as a Christmas film. It's so funny because only the beginning sequence takes place at Christmas time. (And the final 5 minutes.) Oh well. It's still such a fun film and I normally don't like RomComs, but this one is fun and nostalgic. And if you're ever in NYC....Check out the real Serendipity and have some frozen hot chocolate. Yum!

I understand this movie. Same thing is happening to me now. The main characters are crazy and nonsensical just like me. There's this woman that I saw months ago and I can't seem to get her off of my mind. How is this even possible? I don't even know her name.. but there was an instant connection -- it was more spiritual than physical attraction. It's been a month and I can't stop thinking about someone I just met once. It's crazy. But something's telling me; that we will see each other again. I don't know when or how. I just know and I'm positive we will meet again somewhere. This movie is real.. it happens in real life too - it happens to me.

At the end of the movie at 1:24:00 during the passionate kiss, there are lots of rainbows. Similar to fireworks but much more delicate. I missed them because of the kiss. But when I slowed it down to .25 speed, I saw them. So heartwarming.
