Id love to hear a doctor's perspective on what her mobility would actually be like with the glass in her arm still vs out, because yes she'd bleed out, enough people have spread that message, but if it gave her better mobility/use of her arm there would be something to be said for her taking it out to rescue the other person/get herself to safety because the limited time you have before bleeding out is more time than the infinite doom of not being able to potentially escape a burning building.

Most often it is best to not pull an object from a wound. Not always! I had a "sliver" of metal from an IED stuck in my lower leg, a bit above my boot top. Most of the shrapnel was stopped by my body armor and other PPA, however, I had some minor wounds. There were only four of us, and we were in danger. We weren't sure how soon other soldiers would get to us. Another NCO suggested I should pull the piece of metal out of my leg, otherwise it might get shoved in deeper. As it turned out the rest of the patrol, and then the QRF got there in reasonable time. I probably should have left the metal splinter in until I got treated at the BAS (Battalion Aid Station). But in the moment it wasn't clear if I might need to fight back before reinforcements arrived. It seems that the police Sergeant character assessment was the fragment might do more damage if she left it in while she tried to rescue others, and herself in a burning building. Also, she was probably also partially in Shock.

I know this is TV, but just saying, if you ever get a nail or other sharp object impaled into your body DO NOT PULL IT OUT! Stabilize the object and DO NOT TOUCH IT until you get to a hospital. While the object is still inside your body it puts pressure on the wound and arteries, slowing or even stopping most of the bleeding. Obviously you're still going to bleed, but if you pull that object out there's nothing stopping the blood from gushing out and you from death unfortunately. TLDR: If you get stabbed don't take it out or you might die within seconds :)

Ok, a few things 1) A building that size ABSOLUTELY needs to be sprinklered. Even if its an older building, any renovation they have done to that building would have triggered something that big to come up to fire code. 2) While fire storbes are activated, there is no fire alarm 3) Given the size of that broadcast studio their occupant load would have liekly required 3 or 4 exits out. And those exits are required to be placed remotely from one another so that its impossible to block all the exits without intentionally trying to do so. Without the sprinklers, it shouldnt have been more than 100 feet, illuminated by a battery powered light and sign 4) Speaking of lights, there should be emergency backup light packs on the wall to provide illumination in the event of the fire alarm triggering or blackout. 5) the placement of that office is questionable. Depending on its use and occupancy, it shouldnt be possible for it to exit ONLY into the broadcast studio, as that would break the intervening space requirement 6) Depending on how they classify that studio, its likely that there would need to be a rated partition between the A-1 tv studio and the B office which would make that transfer duct illegal without an automatic smoke damper
