Sergei Polunin BBC News 8/12/2016

Considered to be the two best ballet dancers in the world, Sergei Polunin and Natalia Osipova have been compared to the legendary Rudolph Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn.
This year's Edinburgh International Festival sees the two perform together.
Will Gompertz reports.

I'm happy that he's decided to (if given the chance), dance with the Royal Ballet again. Sometimes certain things come at the wrong moment and we're fortunate enough to cease another opportunity. I wish him nothing but the best. Incredibly talented dancer.

My favorites! They are a cute couple. I am so happy he didn't give up dancing for now. I think it's very mature of him to dance with the Royal Ballet again, if the opportunity arises. I hope he can do a variety of things in the future and express himself artistically while still working with the Royal Ballet as well. He is just so extremely talented and stayed so down to earth; that's rare. I love to listen to his interviews. He is very thoughtful and intelligent besides being gorgeous. I wish them/him all the best. He would really deserve to be happy, he worked so hard!

She is spectacular! Seen her do characters like Anastasia or her incredible rendition of Giselle with Polunin? Or Kitri in Don Quixote? Her blistering turns and elevated jumps she is EVERYTHING one could want from a dancer; character, actor skills and technique.

It would be interesting to see him break new ground in dance instead of going back to ballet. His dancing in the Video Take me to Church combined ballet with gymnastic moves and I had hopes he would go in that direction. I think the various moves in the floor routines and various apparatus could be utilized to great effect in dramatic productions. Seems like it would be more fun to push to see how far you could go rather than performing specific moves, ballet seems a bit rigid. Good luck to him in whatever he is happiest with. He is a wonder.

possmom8 I would rather he kept working with someone like Russell Maliphant and then go on a world tour. (A girl can dream.) Going back to the Royal Ballet seems counterproductive to his further development, and it won`t make him any happier (or less bored) the second time around. It hurts to even hear him say it. Contemporary dance seems to suit his personality so well. More freedom and challenge. I loved "Silent Echo" at the end of "Dancer" even more than "Take Me To Church".

+possmom8 I think he should concentrate on camera works. Movies, advertising, musicclips. When I see him in a recorded normal ballet performance he looks somehow a bit bland, but when he dances for filmscenes or shows his face on photos then he appears interesting and with a special attraction. In front of a camera he's got the X-factor, on stage he hasn't (my opinion).

K3r0411 somehow i think they cut his words and he said he would work with ROH again if they would want him to, but on his terms, with Polunin Project or something like, not return there as principal…just my impression of his recent interviews.

Yrjo Ynkery I think if he went back to the ROH he would feel like a loser. Because it's like as if he ran away and shouted "I can do it on my own! I don't need you to survive and have success!" So if he went back everybody could see he didn't make it. And when he looked into the mirror then he would probably see a rueful, decent and tamed cog in the machine. I think there are times in life when you know you must give up, but that's the trick in life: you must know when it's necessary or maybe it's never necessary. But you should never give up too early. I can understand if he went back after he had tried with full power and lots of projects and a 60-hours week of working but no success. When he wouldn't know how to pay his rent and food anymore. But as long as circumstances are not that terrible he shouldn't give up, because arts demand a lot, most times everything. It's different when you're an average man who wants to have self-employment, those people can jump off the train a bit earlier, if they want to. But an artist should fight near to the point he crashes.

Sergei is the most amazingly talented dancer, but I have to say she is nothing special and I have seen much more talented females. She has a very bland expression all the time unlike Sergei who has the ability to create a character not only with dancing but expressions as well. Having seen this compared to more recent clips, he has lost so much weight he looks really gaunt in some and when he works topless his ribs are really standing out, but he does still have excellent muscle tone and mass and well he is just gorgeous, and probs could just do with some good English cooking which I would be honored to cook!!!!! I still cant get a copy of Dancer from anywhere I live in the Isle of Man and there was no showing over here so has anyone got an idea where I can get it from??

Nothing special about Osipova? Lol. She's only considered one of world's best ballet dancers, hailed internationally as an exceptional, genius dancer, who can pour emotion into basically anything without compromising the technique, and who has a stage command matched by few.

Your judgement seems to me unfair. Please look at Natalia in Russian TV - show "Bolero". She is something special even in Russia, which has so many world-class ballerinas. Also, in duet you can't to tear apart dancers and dissolve a chemistry between them. In my opinion, emotionally Natalia and Sergej are on same scale as Nureev and Fonteyn. As for combination technique/age/power they both are even better.

as a ballerina she is hmm okay I guess... Her vibe in general is that bothered me, and still does. Watching Sergei interviews he was always happy, smiley, chatty, with special glow. Watching her in the interview -...looks so down, depressed, evil kinda (face expression). I watched them doing an interview a year or so ago and it looked to me like she is bringing him down...he was silent, serious, sad looking... :/
