Stunning technique - what a beautiful dancer he is! This is such a hard feat to achieve and he manages it consistently so well … am i the only one who wishes he still danced these classical roles?
@IndiaInk3 жыл бұрын
I think it's safe to say most of Sergei's fans love to see him in classical roles. And Sergei himself loves to dance them when he is given the opportunity to. Unfortunately, classical productions are expensive to produce, so that limits his ability to perform them with his own company. But as you probably know, if all goes well, he'll be performing "Romeo and Juliet" with Alina Cojocaru at the Royal Albert Hall in December. And now there are hints that he *might* be appearing in Giselle in early 2022. Now that some theatres are opening up to performances again, hopefully we can see him perform a few classical roles throughout the year like he was doing in 2018 and 2019 (Coppelia, Spartacus, and Raymonda to name a few he performed in.)

How many times have i watched - - Polunin and Zacharova - - as they danced this romantic ballet - - Giselle❓Once - - twice - - or three times - - and perhaps - - a few moments more❓And everytime I go there - - it feels like - - I am being transported - - to another time and place❗Alas - - perhaps short of going - - so far as - - to burst into tears - - I must remind myself that - - it is but - - just - - a light - - pleasant dream❗Oh - - but it's maestro Polunin - - yes - - dancing - - moving in a way quite graceful - - or dazzling - - he is Poetry in motion - - Entrechat Six - - and all❗Thanks again @ I I for posting.

I know I’d love to see him dance these classical roles again. I’m sure MANY others would too 😉. Keep wishing! He is only 31, there is time.

@Fiona Erleigh Exactly. 🙂 Hopefully it’s encouraging for people who don't follow all his interviews to know what isn't always made clear in brief sound bites - that although Sergei has many ideas for making the ballet world better for dancers and he enjoys challenging himself with a variety of styles of dance - he says he loves dancing classical ballet and knows how much his fans enjoy seeing him in these roles. I've gotten the impression that, as he's been able to explore a wide range of opportunities and has experienced more freedom of choice in his dance that he has actually become more appreciative of dancing classical ballet. It definitely doesn't seem at all improbable that we will get to see him in more of these roles. (And he's in such form now, after getting a rest and then being able to perform regularly this summer!)

Yes dear India, you did it again. I cried watching this. Such a rare godgiven talent, this beautiful man. And so sad and lonely in his ballet learning years in London and later still, in Russia, untill he released himself from the burden of the strict balletcompany world. I'm no longer on the fan sites because the female group leader seemed to hate me without reason, I can't stand negativity like that, so immature and useless, but I love Sergei Polunin and always will. Thank you again.

Some of these conductors should have rehearsed the slower time required!

I was wondering about that - the slower the music goes, the more entrechats he can do - the number varies between 24 and 29 i think …
@IndiaInk3 жыл бұрын
@@bumble707 Fiona is also referring to the fact that the height Sergei reaches means he's in the air longer than is likely customary for the orchestra. So in order to match his beats - they need to slow down!
