Isn't that ironic she suffered terribly and what her poor spirit needs is loving and caring from people who value her. Her community don't appear to love, care or value her. God knows all this and I pray He will heal her as much as she can be. None of what she suffered was her fault. I pray she puts herself in The Lord's hands and knows there is no sorrow in heaven. He will wipe the tears from her eyes.

I’m not saying that Josephine was Garry‘s accomplice by no means. But if she had not participated in some of those horrible acts, she would not have been able to convince him to let her get out of the car that night that she called the police which led to the others being found. She ended up signing away the rights to her two children from what I heard on another KZbin channel because after getting out of there she wasn’t mentally fit to raise her own kids. I’m glad she used her head and got them out of there.

I see comments like yours every now and then on KZbin, Facebook, and Reddit talking about belief in claims of abuse - the default being to simply believe everything. In the context of knowing someone is a serial killer - abuse seems hyper important as a sort of warning sign. But your (and the similar comments I've seen) are not about this person (Gary) but people in general, right? That said, I don't want to misunderstand here or assume what you mean, so like are you saying that you believe literally anything anyone says? Or do you mean just about abuse? Or do you mean believe only people you don't think have anything to gain from lying (like attention or money)? Or is this a political/social stance maybe, that women wouldn't lie about being abused or that if a man were to defend himself against an accusation, *he* must be lying? Just a personal experience/anecdotal evidence thing where you made a claim that you didn't like that others treated skeptically? I am curious what the mindset is here, because overcorrection is not usually the best course of action when it comes to policies of behavior or punishment as circumstances are not taken into account. Gary here is a serial killer, he is not like Joe Everyman walking around that you work with or see driving on the road. He's got some mental and emotional extremes that led him to do horrible crimes (that fascinate us, we're watching this thing after all). It is alarmist to an extreme that is basically indescribable to think that every guy out there is potential serial killer, or even that he might hate women. That seems like a harmful assumption, kind of like assuming no women would lie for attention/money. To wrap up, I understand abuse happens. The physically violent abuse would seem to skew by numbers as being perpetrated by men at women and children. There are awful, terrible, horrible men out there that escape justice being done - sometimes by their victims telling conflicting stories when interviewed, sometimes by some legal technicality, sometimes by sheer luck/incompetence by someone in law enforcement or social services. On behalf of all men that are not those guys - please do not believe all women and please do not assume that just because of my genitals that I'm the enemy or guilty of something.
@undertasty
@undertasty 3 жыл бұрын
@@conneremer4241 Well you certainly took a defensive stance, didn't you? And you have some valid points, but mostly this comes off as an extreme backlash to a larger conversation, and you certainly projected a lot of assumptions to a very simple statement. One major one being that I only meant women should be taken seriously. I never said that. Statistically, women experience more sexual and/or other type of violence than men, but those statistics are probably not very accurate, given how usually men are less likely to admit they have been victims. But looking at the numbers, in the US one in five women are raped in their lifetime, 81% of women and 43% of men experience sexual assault or harrassment. Those are horrifying numbers, and I'm not talking about the gap between genders. No-one should be assaulted, so all of that is a tragedy. And one of the saddest parts of that is, the knee jerk reaction from law enforcement to family members to the community in general is denial. No-one wants to believe these horrific things happen, and the victims get a lot of victim blaming and shaming, both men and women. It makes healing and building yourself back up a lot more difficult. That is what I wanted to emphasize. I never said that everyone with a penis is some predatory monster. I never said only men commit horrific acts on others. I never said men and their feelings don't matter, or that they are never victimised too. If someone, man or woman, tells you they have been abused, take it seriously. The odds that they are lying are really quite slim, and if they are lying, usually they have a slew of other problems and a history of lying, so it is not impossible to spot that. Very few want to be seen as victims, so very few have anything to gain from claiming such things. And if you are dealing with a person who has been violated, you not listening and not believing them will do extreme harm to someone already distraught and vulnerable.

People are quick to empathize with this woman but when studying the actual case (as we did for criminal law) it was shown that she participated in the majority of the abuse and only admitted it AFTER they gave her immunity. I tell people all the time to study the case before making assumptions because it's not as it seems when being reported. Many of those women died because she lied on them in order to gain favor. If she really suffered from it she wouldn't have kept instigating violence just to stay in his bed with him. She even stated that they would have talks about the women and he would tell her things and she would often agree not out of fear but because she was trying to go home. If I went to a house and smelled death, I'd know in an instant and ANY reason other than "oh there's a dead animal in the garbage that I had to shoot" or something similar, I wouldn't be leaving until I searched every inch of that house. If he wouldn't let me (because I understand he doesn't have to) I'd be sitting on the dude until I knew 100% that nothing shady was going on.

The women should've had the delightful chore of beating and torturing him to death... If that's how things were, then it would be solely up to the victims and their own conscience. Personally I feel like the death penalty is the easy way out. He should have to wake up every day to r##e and torment from other prisoners. THAT would be fitting I think.

I actually oppose it,. I’ve got nothing against people having an opinion though and can understand it. I just think that no justice system is impeccable enough to warrant taking someone’s life. Our political systems simply do not deserve it. Too much power is never a good thing and this is proved over and over again with corruption and cover ups. These perpetrators are mentally deranged people who need placing in secure hospitals (not prisons). The other point is that babies aren’t born evil. Society makes them this way. Less of the state sponsored murder and more of the child protection/social education services please and it’s not just the poor who create monsters. Many rich and educated families go under the radar because they are so rich and educated! You also have to wonder why this subject isn’t even spoken about as something that needs to be addressed as well.

I'm only for it in extreme cases like this one. I think the evidence should be INCREDIBLY, damning, like this one. I'd also require the defendant to admit to the crime, as well as all police interactions with him recorded so there's no evidence of a forced confession. And finally psychologists evaluating him and determining that he's too far gone to be rehabilitated. Which I think they would probably determine that with this case.
@gorillaguerillaDK
@gorillaguerillaDK 3 жыл бұрын
I have no problem being a strong opponent of the Death Penalty! It isn’t the job of the State to murder its citizens! Are they criminals who can’t be rehabilitated, or criminally insane, it’s the States responsibility to keep citizens safe from them, and them safe from themselves! Murdering criminals is an act of revenge, based on emotions - but true unbiased justice can’t be based on simple basic human emotions. You can’t claim to value human lives, and at the same time sanction murdering criminals!

I have a vivid memory of being required to attend this religious purity event, and young women were compared to new and used cars depending on the degree of their sexual deviance/impurity. I am NOT a car and as a person with a multifaceted existence and identity, I am more than an object serving a functional purpose for consumers. So I apologize if my own personal trauma caused me to overreact unnecessarily! I'm not saying my experience is the same as this, but it definitely struck a sensitive nerve. I just think that if a term describing a certain group of people has been warped over time to communicate an offensive and insulting meaning, it's the least I can do. It's not inconvenient or demanding to change my vernacular. Unfortunately, I don't think it's only 12 year olds contributing to the issue. The prevalence of immature adults never ceases to astonish me. :) But thank you for the discourse! Always a nice surprise to have rational, calm exchange in the comments.

This is surreal watching this. As a child, he lived in the same apartment complex that we lived in for one year. This was on 58th Street in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia. The estate of Cardinal Krol was right across the street from us. Even then, I sensed it was something strange about him. He had several girls living with him, although they never seemed to be there against there will. I used to deliver the newspaper to his apartment and there was times when I went to collect the weekly payment and the girls who lived there answered the door. Two were sisters and they were both pregnant at the same time, which even as a 12 year old, I knew was weird. The were both slightly slow, and I later learned that he picked up many of his victims at a place called Elwyn Institute which was an adult school for learning disabled. The other thing I recall about him was that he always had several cars. And since we parked on the street, parking was at a premium; especially in the winter. Anyone who knows about city parking when it snows can attest that if you dig space out and put a lawn chair or something to mark it, that space better be there when you return. Well, he violated one time, and after he argued with my Mom about it, my uncle came around the corner and made him move his car. About 10 years later, I was working in the Stock Market. I got to work one morning and saw his face on the front page of the Inquirer and Daily News. Infamous indeed, even in a city like Philly.

So his career was like Silence of the Lambs, but with less Ed Gein and more Leonard Lake, plus a bit of Willy Pickton, i.e. that notion that people are cattle. What a fuckin' nightmare being, sitting there improvising tortures in his breeding pen full of terrified prisoners. When you first described the hole, I wanted to scream in anguish, but didn't only because that'd be rude to the neighbors. you've got some of the best true crime content on KZbin, dogg

@@leelooweewoo Yeah, I guess so. In the seventies, a lot of kids thumbed rides. I did not have a normal childhood so I was taught to NEVER thumb a ride, or pick up a hitchhiker, or walk around at night with my friends. My dad was a homicide detective and he really dealt with some bad stuff. So we were often affected by it. For example, one day he came home drunk and threw all of our hairdryers out of the window, ranting and raving. It turns out some girl, that day, had used her hairdryer, while soaking in the tub. She dropped it in and fried herself. After that, we were no longer allowed to keep or use our hairdryers in the bathroom.

Yes. A different time. Back in the 60's you cold go out and play all day without any worries of being taken. Today it's scary to let your kids out to play in your own backyard with a privacy fence all around. Things changed big time in the late 80's and 90's. Killers have always been around though. With the news and communications between police stations like it is now we hear about them more.
