I would have preferred him getting the family ending, Sam telling him to look for love. They should have followed Marvel's example

I thought Deans death scene lasted too long... on first watch I kept getting pulled away from Dean saying goodbye to Sam towards Jensen saying goodbye to Jared/show. The more I watch it the less that happens but.... I did like the call backs to season one. I loved when Carry on was played, and of course the boys being reunited in heaven (altho I thought Sam should have arrived aged). I am happy with the finale.

Aye, it was long running show so his goodbye had to be long too. The longer he took the more it hit me how it was always him & Sam, because after so many times them dying and coming back. It was showing like this is it. But honestly, Carry On with the female vocals I would say hits harder than original in this episode.

The only happy endinng Dean was ever going to get was 1) Sam getting out; 2) Peace. The only way he could have peace and that Sam would get out is through death. It was the perfect ending for him, no matter what anyone says. I just wish they had shown us more of what happened with Sam, vs Dean driving around in Heaven. The impact of his death would've been more if they hadn't shown us his entry in Heaven until the end when Sam shows up. Also, that terrible Neoni song being the last version of 'Carry On' SUCKED and was DISRESPECTFUL to the fans and to Kansas.

I can see what you the mystery of heaven being revealed after Sam's death by Dean catching him up kinda like bobby did for Dean. Or Sam could have been the one who died and Dean has to make peace with it and starts living for him and live the life Sam wanted. Could have been a Spinoff called Supernatural : Afterlife of a Hunter, we see how Dean struggles with the life but remembers Sam causing him not to choose being a Hunter. Also yeah for the original band it was kinda disrespectful but in the moment the og version wouldn't have match the mood or theme or help get the feels across and emphasis "THE END". Think about as the angels singing to Sam as he is taken away, has to sound some what angelic
