What's the difference between this and a Micro Miniature style connector such as the Amphenol 2M series? That this is fully or partially backwards compatible with 38999 connectors?

Amphenol’s Series Five connectors are a new Micro-Miniature circular series that improve on the advantages of both 2M connectors and D38999. They will not be intermateable with any existing product series, but will have lots of key features that make them easy to design in on new platforms! Stay tuned because a full features overview will be released on March 9th that should offer a lot of clarity on the design and why this new connector accepts no compromises.
