What I love about this show is that it doesn't try to be more that is has to be. It explores how grim the galaxy is turning in the eyes of deserters who know nothing of anything else but war. All without touching the saga.

I loved the talk at the end of the video. I love this passion that you have for movies and TV shows, there's this light to you that's just so beautiful, the way that you're able to see how all the pieces of a story fit together, and this beautiful way you share your own thoughts and experiences with the world. It's always a pleasure to listen to what you have to say. You're beautiful Imon, always.

Caleb changes his name and refrains from even activating his lightsaber for a very long time. “How is the [programming] well known?” Besides the chip and Order 66, they didn’t hide it. Obi Wan was explicitly told in EpII that they were modified to be less independant than Jango, to be totally obediant and follow orders without question You’ve seen AZ-3 before! He was the one helping Fives in the arc where he finds out about the brain chips I keep having to remind myself you haven’t seen a certain thing, so you’re only familiar with Saw Gerrera from Clone Wars, and now this All the Bad Batch have chips, but Crosshair’s was the only one that was partially active I’m honestly not sure what Omega’s modification/defect/enhancement is. I thought it was being female, but looking into it, that’s a _result_ of the ehancement. •There are two other things, but I’m not sure one qualifies as an enhancement. Tech did say she had a heightened state of awareness, but he says that’s not unusual for an enhanced clone, so likely just another result “I guess I got lucky [with the blaster]” To mostly quote Fives: _They are one and the same. Same heart, same blood. Their training is in their blood._

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="650">10:50</a> it’s well known because it was one of the first things Obi-Wan was told about the clones from Taun We/The government in episode 2. And he reported all that to the council. I think it just because common knowledge that the clones were designed to follow orders.

OK Imon! WE.ARE.HERE! We've seen the two Jedi a the start before. The Master, is Depa Billaba. She's in a bunch of Jedi Council scenes in the movies. She and Obi Wan look at each other and talk through the Force in The Phantom Menace when Qui-Gon and he report about Naboo and meeting Anakin. You saw her in Ahsoka's training episode in Tales of the Jedi. The scene with Masters Sinube, Yoda, Plo Koon, Obi Wan, and two other Jedi watching her when Anakin runs in late during Ahsoka's official "test". Those are all the Jedi who are influntial to Ahsoka's development. The two other Jedi are the ones we see at the start here. They also make a cameo at the start of Clone Wars season 7 when the announcer is explaining the state of the war. great reaction miss snow!!!

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="249">4:09</a> yeah, it sure is 😭 saying this moments before you know what is painful. One of my favorite things about BB is the aftermath of not just Order 66 but the war and transition into the Empire in general. I love how the clones are handled, its an incredibly resonant and horrifying take on what it would be like to be subjected to the chips and living with what they did or didn't do, and what their brothers did, too. On another note, this might be a bit of a weird thing to point out, but i noticed the patches on your face and I have the exact same ones haha. Its nice to see others with imperfect skin online if that makes sense. Also, when you commented on neurodivergence- yes, absolutely. I think the bad batch are pretty easily mapped to things like this. Echo is an amuptee (and a cyborg essentially) (and he arguably has PTSD/CPTSD) Wrecker is born physically different (bone structrue, etc) from other clones, and Tech is very commonly claimed as rep by the autistic community. (I personally see him this way as an autist myself). I love the found family dynamic of all these outcasts being even more prominent with the nature of cloning. It took me a while to understand why Echo would leave the 501st for the bad batch, but from the lens of disability and outcasts, it makes perfect sense. Rex would always have had his back, but he can't really understand. Echo's original squad is gone, and he needed more than just Rex. The Batch fills this role, even if Echo is still in-between them and the 'regs' in a lot of ways. The bad batch has many differences from the standard they live in in general. But those are the ones currently/first visible. Just because they have skills related to their disabilities doesn't make them any less unwelcome in the new, standardized, hollow Empire. Which most definitely, the Empire is completely built from real life fascism and regimes. Particularly in the aesthetics, which have a lot of references to Nazi Germany I believe. Which unfortunately absolutely applies to the present. Anyway, glad to see you start this series! I can understand that some may prefer watching Rebels first, but I think that method and the chronological one both have their merits. You may miss out on connections to Rebels doing this (like Caleb) but there's the benefit of the transition between the war to the rebellion happening alongside the watch order, too. :) Edit: one last thought then I'll stop rambling 😂. One of the things The Clone Wars Series did right away that had not been done with the clones was give each of them individual humanity. You see this by how immediately, the clones are frequently shown without their helmets on. One of the most harrowing things about the Bad Batch is seeing how that individuality and humanity is almost immediately taken away. It's back to the regs having their helmets on by default, not showing their faces, differing appearances, or names. In this episode, Kamino is filled with clones all marching in perfect patterns, helmets on. There are no paint jobs, no groups of clones hanging out around a radio or working on their gear together. I think what is most upsetting about how the clones are treated here is how the Empire took away everyone's personhood.

Hey, Imon! Excellent first episode. I liked how even the title card demonstrated continuity with "Clone Wars". We get a second glimpse of Depa Billaba and Caleb Dume aka Kanan Jarrus last seen in "Tales of the Jedi" watching Ahsoka train. Depa was seen in live-action in the Prequels and her surviving Padawan becomes Kanan, the lead in "Rebels". Return appearances by Tarkin (still an Admiral), Saw Gerrera, AZI-3, Nala Se and Lama Su. Glad to see AZI-3 made a new friend in Omega after his experience with Fives. Difficult to ascertain Nala Se and Lama Su's agendas. Is it proprietary pride in their craft, protecting a lucrative contract, distrust of Imperial control? They weren't overly fond of the Jedi and their spirituality being that they're a science-oriented people. They also saw the clones as a product rather than sentient creatures. They seemed to believe Tyrannus' pretext for the inhibitor chip and undermined Fives' efforts to expose the truth in order to protect their client's wishes. Have they had a change of heart after seeing the fallout? I noticed Filoni refrained from showing which Jedi died on Kamino to prevent attributing yet another death to Shaak Ti who most frequently oversaw matters in Tipoca City. Lol. She already has four deaths under her belt! I can only guess what makes Omega special but she's already shown she's a pretty good shot! So we lost Crosshair. I wonder if they can save him or if he's just the first of the Bad Batch to go down?

Great show, but it was released after Rebels, so a few Rebels tie-ins you are going to completely miss. Like the young Jedi in the opening scene. He's been sprinkled in the end of Clone Wars and Tales of the Jedi also, but he has ties to Rebels. Few other episodes have Rebels ties you won't get, and probably won't remember when, or if you get to Rebels. I enjoy your reactions and know you'll love this show.

The characters definitely carry neurodivergent traits, specifically Tech, but in various ways with the others. What’s especially realer and such a good additional layer to character depth is that they’re basically all war veterans and all deal with ptsd in some way. It’s so fascinating seeing this play out in the Star Wars universe as they try to live a simpler life, while on the run. Definitely one of my favorite SW shows and I really hope we get to see them more somehow

Order 66 and the Rise of the Empire never get any easier to watch, no matter whose perspective they show us. If you were especially eagle-eyed during Tales of the Jedi, you might have noticed that Caleb, the Jedi Padawan of Depa Billaba, was actually present during the scene where Ahsoka was being tested with the training remote droids. And AZ is the same medical droid who helped Fives investigate the inhibitor chips in The Clone Wars Season 5. Regarding Omega's status as the first female Jango Fett clone - that's certainly true in a biological sense, but from a social perspective she's actually not the first! In the novel Brotherhood, by E.K. Johnston, Anakin and Obi-Wan actually meet a transgender clone trooper, who was dubbed "sister" by the other clones as an affirmation of her new identity. Anakin offers her some words of support as well, saying "The Jedi are all about transcending things. I don't think we can complain if you've transcended gender." Then again, Omega doesn't appear to be subject to the same age acceleration as the other clones, so perhaps she actually was born first! I love that this show gives us a look at how the Republic transitioned into the Empire after Revenge of the Sith, and how some things changed immediately while others didn't, and all the different ways that the people of the Republic, including its loyal soliders, reacted to those changes. Of course, the process of the Republic becoming the Empire had really started long before this point, but still.

There's a plot-line in the Marvel comics where they make a clone of Wolverine using two of his X chromosomes. X-23 iirc, or possibly one of the Kids in that Logan movie. It may be just movie logic, but it's not unheard of as a literary tool for having clones with different sexually dimorphic gene expression.

<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="292">4:52</a> Caleb and Belaba's Order 66 scene was already done in the Star Wars Kanan comic series (quite differently) before this episode came out btw. I liked the scene in the comic a bit more. It didn't have the Bad Batch in it and was set at night, at a campfire with them (the 2 jedi and clones) all bonding shortly before the order was issued. The clones in the comic also had a light red color scheme on their armor, unlike here.

Looked like the kid gave Hunter a stare like he was forgiving him. I'd hope that's how he reacted. Hunter had every chance to kill him, but he disarmed himself and took off his helmet. "Not again", implying cafeteria food fights happen all the time, lol. For any other sniper, that knife shot would be borderline impossible, but Crosshair's skill is, literally, anything in his crosshair, aka, sniper expert.
